  2. FS2004/FSX Curtiss Hawk 2

FS2004/FSX Curtiss Hawk 2. The Curtiss Hawk II was essentially an export version of the XF11C-2 with a Wright R-1820F-3 Cyclone rated at 710 hp. Hawk II saw combat between Peru and Colombia, Bolivia and Paraguay (in the Gran Chaco War), China and Japan, Siamese/Thai Hawks fought against the French in Indochina, and for one day against the Japanese prior to a cease-fire being agreed. Tested in FS2004/FSX/FSX Acceleration. Original CFS2 model by "Thicko", upgrade by A.F. Scrub.

  3. FS2004/FSX Republic P-43A Lancer

FS2004/FSX Republic P-43A Lancer. Built by Republic, the P-43 was a modification of the P-35. It had an early turbocharger and was quite fast for its day. Roll was good but turn rate was poor. The turbocharger was not especially reliable and the fuel tanks were quite vulnerable, particularly in early models without self sealing tanks. 51 aircraft were delivered to China under lend-lease and a few saw limited operation with the American Volunteer Group. Tested in FS2004/FSX/FSX Acceleration. P43 Gmax model by A.F. Scrub.

  4. FS2004/FSX P-47N-2-RE

FS2004/FSX P-47N-2-RE "Chautauqua" and P-47N-5RE "Icky and Me". The last of the Thunderbolts to be manufactured in quantity was the P-47 N, a specialized long-range version designed for service in the Pacific theatre. The P47N had a new "wet" wing of slightly larger span and area. It gave excellent service in the Pacific in the final year of the war, particularly in escorting bombers in raids on the Japanese mainland. They were able to escort bombers all the way from Saipan to Japan and on many other long overwater flights. Tested in FS2004/FSX and FSX Acceleration. Gmax model by A.F. Scrub.

  5. FS2004 Bell P39N Airacobra

FS2004 Bell P39N Airacobra. The P-39 was one of the first planes to use a tri-cycle landing gear configuration. Typical was the car-like door to exit the cockpit instead of a sliding canopy, but didn't match the opinion of the pilots. The mid-fuselage placement of the engine made the way for the installation of the Colt M4 37mm cannon protruding out of the nose. Model, texture, VC, panel by F. Giuli. Gauges by other authors.

  7. FS2004/FSX Republic P-47M Thunderbolt

FS2004/FSX Republic P-47M Thunderbolt. With the advent of the Fieseler Fi 103, or V-1 missile, and turbojet and rocket propelled fighters in Luftwaffe service, a "sprint" version of the P-47 Thunderbolt was hurriedly produced to meet the threat. Air brakes were fitted beneath the wings to aid deceleration after diving on the quarry. The P47M topped at 450+ mph and 130 were subsequently built, these operating mostly in France after D-Day. Tested in FS2004/FSX/FSX Acceleration. Gmax model by A.F. Scrub.

  8. FS2004/FSX P-47D Thunderbolt

FS2004/FSX P-47D Thunderbolt. The big Republic P-47 Thunderbolt was one of the most successful and best-loved fighters of all time. The 'Jug', named for its bulky shape, was a monster of a machine, yet it was fast and manoeuvrable. The pilot had enormous power at his fingertips and knew that if his aircraft was hit by gunfire, he had an excellent chance of getting home safely. P-47D-25 Gabreski and P-47D-30 Tarheel Hall variants included. Tested in FS2004/FSX/FSX Acceleration. Gmax model by A.F. Scrub.

  9. FS2004/FSX Spitfire Mk v Daimler Benz

FS2004/FSX Spitfire Mk v Daimler Benz. Spitfire Vb serial EN830 / NX-X fell into German hands late in 1942. It crash landed on November 18th 1942 and was captured in good enough condition to be flown in November 1943, with black crosses in place of RAF roundels, to Rechlin for testing. After the Merlin engine was removed, it was discovered that the Spitfires front fuselage cross-section was very close to that of the standard Bf.110G's engine cowling. A new engine support was designed, and a standard DB 605A-1 engine was mounted to the firewall. Performance was found to be much better than the Standard MkV and Bf109F. Tested in FS2004 / FSX / FSX Acceleration. Gmax model by A.F. Scrub.

  11. FS2004/FSX Spitfire Mk Vb And Mk VcTrop

FS2004/FSX Spitfire Mk Vb And Mk VcTrop. The basic Mk V was a Mk I with the Merlin 45 series engine. This engine delivered 1440 hp (1074 kW) at take-off, and incorporated a new single-speed single-stage supercharger design. Several Mk I and Mk II airframes were converted to Mk V standard by Supermarine and started equipping fighter units from early 1941. With the advent of the superb Focke Wulf Fw 190 in August 1941 the Spitfire was for the first time truly outclassed, hastening the development of the "interim" Mk IX. In an effort to counter this threat, especially at lower altitudes, the VB was the first production version of the Spitfire to use "clipped" wingtips as an option, reducing the wingspan to 32 ft 2 in (9.8 m). The clipped wings increased the roll rate and airspeed at lower altitudes. Tested in FS2004/FSX/FSX Acceleration. Gmax model by A.F. Scrub.

  12. FS2004/FSX Spitfire Mk XVI

FS2004/FSX Spitfire Mk XVI. The Mk. XVI emerged as gradual evolution from the highly-successful Mk IX, inheriting the many minor modifications introduced during its production but otherwise similar in all respects except for the engine, being the American-built Packard Merlin 266, license-built version of the Rolls-Royce Merlin 66. The difference in service tooling between the British and American engines necessitated the introduction of the new mark, but Mk. IXs and XVIs were otherwise produced on the same productions lines, depending on the availability of the engines. Tested in FS2004/FSX/FSX Acceleration. Gmax model by A.F. Scrub.

  13. FS2004/FSX Seafire MkIIc

FS2004/FSX Seafire MkIIc WW2 fighter. In late 1941 and early 1942, the Admiralty assessed the Spitfire for possible conversion to naval use. The main structural change was made to the lower rear fuselage which incorporated an A-frame style arrestor hook and strengthened lower longerons. The IIc was the first of the Seafires to be deployed operationally in large numbers. These aircraft were built by Cunliffe-Owen and equipped with Naval HF radio equipment and IFF equipment as well as a Type 72 homing beacon. They had clipped, fixed wings and were powered by a low altitude Merlin 32 specifically manufactured for naval use. A. H. freeware model upgraded to FSX/FSX Acceleration. Tested and flown in FS2004/FSX/FSX Acceleration. Mods by A.F. Scrub.
