How can I change FS cache location?
g7rta replied to lordciciu's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 General Discussion
Hi, sorry to hear you’re having problems. How big is your SSD? You can change the location of your rolling cache, but do you have that switched on anyway? Go into the options menu... general.. data... Scroll down & you’ll see the rolling cache options. You’ll be able to see if it’s on/off If it’s on, you can change the location by clicking the path. You can also change the size of it. Not sure this will help though as I doubt rolling cache will be on & it sounds like you’re gonna need a bigger drive Regards Steve -
Yes, the A320 does have wing views by default. Open the camera menu & click showcase, followed by FIXED CAMERA†(bottom of menu) You will then see 1-13 external views (you may have to drag the menu down a bit to see more) External 12 is the left wing view - external 13 is the right one Regards Steve

Multiscreen
g7rta replied to bobikdog123's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 General Discussion
The VFR map & ATC menu is one thing, but he was asking if you can undock all the windows & move them over, you can’t do it yet but hopefully it’ll be soon. I actually use three TV’s, I run MSFS in windowed mode with the display stretched across all three. It’s not ideal & the image appears stretched. When MS give us proper multiscreen support we should be able to undock the views.. so the front view would be on my main screen.. another view (left) on my left screen & another on the right screen. We just st can’t do that yet without stretching the whole cockpit across all three. Regards Steve -

pop outs

You can already do it with the VFR map but that’s about it. Multi screen support will happen in an update. Hopefully it’ll be soon :) Regards Steve -
The Bug Desk Is Bugged!
g7rta replied to Elvensmith's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 General Discussion
This came up many times in the alpha/beta forums. Apparently it’s supposed to mean waiting for a member of Asobo/MS to look at it. Should eventually say “solved†but this doesn’t necessarily mean the bug has been fixed. It simply means they’ve made a note of it. Confusing though isn’t it? Regards Steve -
Multiscreen
g7rta replied to bobikdog123's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 General Discussion
It will happen but we need to wait for an update or two. There’s an update due end of this week so you never know.. Regards Steve -
There are obviously plenty of bugs at the moment & they will be fixed. But to say such a thing isn’t really called for. There are many of us who love it & think it’s the best yet. It’s certainly a lot of fun. VFR flying is fantastic. If you don’t like it that’s fair enough but there are plenty who would disagree. Regards Steve

Where is the logic?
g7rta replied to 2cvNation's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 General Discussion
Hi JP, I say buy it! It’s such a step up from previous sims. Despite the comments on the Xplane forum, there are plenty of people saying otherwise. I think Austin has had a free run for the last 10 years or so & has become a bit complacent. He will be worried now. I bought MSFS from the MS Store. It took about an hour & a half to download, although it’s taking most people 4 or 5 hours. All depends on the time of day and your internet speed (I think you said you have a pretty good connection?) If you’re still in any doubt, get the $1 game pass and try it for yourself. By the way, I reported something missing to MS at the weekend. I’ve just had this interesting reply.. “Thank you for contacting Microsoft Flight Simulator support today. We are planning to have discreet World Updates that focus on a specific region of Earth. The current plan is to do this every 2-3 months. In order to really celebrate that particular part of the planet we are updating, we are also planning on creating some new hand-crafted airports, some new POIs and we will also attempt to provide some more activities … like landing challenges. We are very excited about this as it will – over time - spotlight all regions of Earth, which we hope will bring focus to areas that might not be a current aviation hub†Regards Steve -
Hi Andrew, I wasn’t insulted at all. It was kind of you. The honeycomb yoke really is good. It has two clamping methods.. two hand tight clamps & also a large adhesive backed suction pad (which can be moved & repositioned many times) I have mine stuck to the desk using both the suction pad and the clamps. I’m very impressed so far. Hopefully the throttle will be just as good. They certainly look good, with their landing gear, annunciation panel & trim wheel, all built in! Best regards Steve

Box version useles disc check
g7rta replied to chicago's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 General Discussion
I bought & downloaded from MS store. I didn’t even know I had an activation key? Like most people though, I did know that the boxed version requires the disc to be in. It has been commented in this forum & others many times over the past few weeks. Regards Steve -
I’d never even heard of this until now. Just checked it out.. it vibrates? It looks pretty good for the price! As for setting up the throttle...go into the control settings.. Choose the controller.. change the filter from Unassigned to ALL. Under throttle you want to look for THROTTLE AXIS. Ignore all the other throttle controls (like throttle 1 axis) Click the “search by input†box & then move the joystick’s throttle lever up and down so that it’s detected. (you may have to click “reverse axis†too) Save the settings Hope this helps Regards Steve

No weather control or VFR Map in game
g7rta replied to b3burner's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 General Discussion
I sometimes find that I can’t open the wether menu...ATC menu & even the copilot menu. What I do is to click “custom toolbar†(cog symbol on far right) then click “reset panels†All the menus work after that. Hope this helps Regards Steve -
RAM or Processor
g7rta replied to mokbubble's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 General Discussion
“I would go with the model with 16GB of RAM. Most modern games only use 8GB-16GB of RAM†Go with 32Gb if you can, as you are hoping to run MSFS on it aren’t you? A laptop is not the best choice but as you have said, you are buying a laptop anyway. Regards Steve -
Call Signs!
g7rta replied to Elvensmith's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 General Discussion
Do others actually see your callsign when flying in multiplayer? I’ve never seen any. In fact yesterday my British Airways A320 was parked up at Leeds Bradford when an EasyJet A320 came along side. Where it’s callsign would be there was a black rectangle covering it. Regards Steve -
Can anyone please help
g7rta replied to Apollo212's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 General Discussion
You need to go into the control settings.. Choose your controller.. change the filter from Unassigned to ALL. Under throttle you want to look for THROTTLE AXIS (assuming you just want to have one throttle lever) & for rudder, simply look for RUDDER AXIS Hope this helps Regards Steve -
MSFS Repaints
g7rta replied to Nels_Anderson's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 General Discussion
Thanks Nels! Some nice ones there. Regards Steve -
I personally would go for a desktop pc if possible, rather than a laptop. It’s so much easier to upgrade a desktop. Although 16gb ram is fine, 32 would be better. The 256gb SSD is ok, but I’d want more so I could also have some rolling cache on it. Also two drives is a better option.. one for Win10 and the other for flight sim. Regards Steve

Strange bugs But utterly love it !
g7rta replied to johnclift's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 General Discussion
“He wet his pants and rushed back to his car to go home and buy it“ LOL :) When I first saw the stone pillars (or whatever they are) I actually thought I was flying over a graveyard, but then realised there were much taller ones too & all over! Regards Steve -
Moving about MSFS2020
g7rta replied to FlyerDoc's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 General Discussion
No problem. The menu does appear in both windowed & full screen mode though (I’m guessing your Win10 taskbar is over it? I tend to run in windowed mode because I have the cockpit stretched over three screens. My Win10 taskbar is set to auto-hide so I can see the bottom menu if I need to. Mind you, there aren't many options so it should be easy to remember. To switch back & fourth from Windowed mode to full screen you press Alt+Enter Hope this helps. Happy flying! Regards Steve
