  1. I think you’ll find most (if not all) airports in Australia will be included and flyable, just like all the other airports worldwide :) Sydney will be the only “hand crafted” airport, but all the others will have generic buildings etc. You can still take off & land from all of them. Here in the UK, the only handmade airport we be Heathrow. All the others are still included though Regards Steve
  2. Really? Wow, thanks for that! I’m doing the night shift at work (having my lunch at the moment) I’ll download it when I get home, after some sleep (if I can LOL) Cheers Steve
  3. “at least 16gb of ram would be needed” I’d go for 32Gb - it’s fairy cheap these days anyway Regards Steve
  4. I bought P3D (v4) two or three years ago. Like you I didn’t want to say it was for education so I paid the full price, which was the right thing to do (nearly £200 if I remember correctly, certainly over £150) I enjoyed it for a while but then XP11 came along. Don’t think I’ll be using either now though because of MSFS Regards Steve
  5. You could be right Mark. There’s not going to be a subscription (as far as we know) and someone will have to pay for the servers etc. Saying that, it’ll be available on Xbox for the first time (not that it interests me) so they’re counting on loads more customers. Personally I think it’ll do rather well.. but whether they can generate money for ten years is another thing. There will be addons though.. I suspect loads of addons. Regards Steve
  6. Hi, I actually said I’m not using it at the moment due to being an alpha/beta tester of the new sim. I’m currently using three 43” screens & they work quite well. I do still like VR though and I look forward to trying the new sim when it adds vr (whenever that will be) I certainly agree that Mr Ghosttown should give it a rest. Let’s enjoy whatever setup we have and get on with simming :) Regards Steve
  7. The new MSFS isn’t a two year sim.. they say it’ll be a continuous project & will be updated for at least 10 years (that’s why they’re not actually calling it FS2020). The cost of it isn’t too expensive for most (not sure your location/exchange rate though?) & it’s a huge leap forward. You may change your mind in a month or two? :) Regards Steve
  8. Nope, sorry. No free sim and no discount. I too ordered it last week & I can’t wait. This question has come up so many times and I always think... “how many of us would have paid to test the alpha?” - I know I would have. I received the invite to test it back in February, right on my birthday! It was the best pressie ever :) It’s a privilege to be part of the testing process. I know you’ll barely have a month of testing but I bet you are thrilled to have been chosen? Many here would love the chance. Regards Steve
  9. I agree, great video. I’d be sold on VR if I wasn’t already. Regards Steve
  10. That’s great news :) I remember when I got the invite it took a while for it to appear on the Insider Hub too Regards Steve
  11. I’m sure you’ll know how to spot if it’s fake or not. Firstly there are usually obvious things like.. is it addressed to you personally or does it simply say “dear customer” or “dear client” etc Does it have spelling mistakes? Have you even applied to be an alpha tester? I can’t remember the address my (genuine) email came from. Some say it should be from noreply@microsoftstudios.com - maybe mine did but I honestly don’t know. I know the email started with something like “you’re cleared for take off!” Regards Steve
  12. I think it’s a case of waiting until it’s released & we will know more. By the way.. great photo, Regards Steve
  13. What’s not good enough? The FPS or the answers to the post? Either way it’s best to wait until it’s released. Not too long to wait :) Regards Steve
  14. I have to say I agree with you. Analogue gauges look much more realistic, especially in GA aircraft.
  15. You’re below the “ideal” specs but over the “recommended” specs. I would wait until release date & see how well your pc performs before upgrading. MIcrosoft aren’t even showing the ideal specs on their site anymore, just minimum & recommended - and you are above both If you did want to upgrade, I’d upgrade your ram to 32Gb. Regards Steve
  16. I read somewhere it’ll only be available in Europe “for the time being” Maybe they’ll ship it to the USA at some point but certainly not at launch. Regards Steve
  17. There are several posts about this on another forum. Some say that the keys have come from places around the world where the sim might be a lot cheaper due to the economy of that country. Others say the keys may have been acquired fraudulently (bought with stolen credit cards etc) Most agree that these key sites are probably not 100% legal or safe. You maybe able to buy from these companies safely but personally I don’t think it’s worth the risk. Besides, they are not official sellers of MSFS and it’s probably a better idea to support a Microsoft and buy directly or from an official distributor (eg Aerosoft) Regards Steve
  18. If we were to answer then our answers would be based on the current version being tested, not necessarily the final product. Obviously MS don’t want us to discuss it, as things we may say could be incorrect. Regards Steve
  19. Can’t comment I’m afraid, due to the NDA. Not long until it’s released so hang tight :) Regards Steve
  20. Hi Andy, you may find that you can actually download it on the 17th! At least that’s what my confirmation email said :) As an Alpha tester myself, all I can say is you won’t regret it. I can’t wait for the full release. Regards, Steve
  21. I’m not sure Covid has to do with it? As for the subject.. I personally think X-Plane has some serious competition now & MS will keep updating and improving it over the next ten years or so Regards Steve
  22. 180? That is expensive. Still, it’ll be worth it. I ordered (the Premium) the other day
  23. Your answer doesn’t really work. Going by those figures.... you will pay $59.99 for the standard edition...but we will pay $75 etc So I can see where he’s coming from, but as I pointed out. The uk price also includes VAT & we always pay the same in pounds as you do in dollars. It is a bit of a rip off but everything’s like that. Regards Steve
  24. I’m pretty sure you will need to register with MS/Xbox to fly MSFS. For a start, there’ll be updates etc to download, not to mention the online scenery. I don’t think signing up will be optional. Regards, Steve
  25. It’s always like this, whatever you buy from the states. VAT is included in the price remember. If it was a physical item you were buying (not a download) then you would also pay carriage and sometimes import duty. Sometimes even the carriers will charge an addition fee for paying the duty on your behalf. Regards Steve
