  1. FS2004 Scenery--Knight Inlet CF36 in BC, Canada

FS2004 Scenery--Knight Inlet CF36 in BC, Canada. Knight Inlet is a floating lodge that organises "nature experiences", ranging from close encounters with local grizzly bears to fishing. Knight Inlet is to the north of "the narrows" where the Inside Passage gets squeezed between the mainland and the island, and there is a chart section attached with a pointer to the location. Knight Inlet runs east-west, and the lodge is tucked into a smaller north-south offshoot, close to where the main inlet turns north. The water runway here is in the middle of the north-south offshoot, though of course in reality the "runway" is wherever the wind dictates it to be. The buoyed log boom next to the lodge is to keep escaped logs from drifting in and colliding with boats; float plane pilots keep their eyes peeled too. Most of the AI is from Vancouver Harbour, Harbour Air Otters and West Coast Air Beavers, plus a SeAir Beaver from Campbell River and a private Cessna from the nearby Minstrel Island. This is the second in a series of new and renovated float bases in BC (the first being Sproat Lake) and to cope with the AI demands FSAddon have authorised the inclusion here of a bunch of AI Otters and Beavers that were originally part of a payware scenery for the area. Thanks are due there. By Roger Wensley.

  2. FS2004 Scenery--Sproat Lake CAA9 V2 on Vancouver Island

FS2004 Scenery--Sproat Lake CAA9 V2 on Vancouver Island. This presumes you have already installed Sproat Lake CAA9 (SPROAT_LAKE.ZIP); it is not a stand-alone scenery. In the original post the traffic bgl was omitted. This is now included, as are the two AI Beavers that FSAddon yesterday gave permission for inclusion and use as AI with Sproat Lake. So if you already have the pay scenery they came with installed they will show up anyway, but if you don't then install these two and they will; just drop the Sproat Lake AI Beavers folder into your aircraft folder, and the traffic bgl into the FS2004 Scenery/World/Scenery folder as usual. This scenery now also includes a parked Grumman Goose amphibian as this was the plane that the Fire Boss would be operating in while fire fighting. The textures are what were available and are revised to at least have a Canadian registration. If possible a more accurate version will be posted at a later date. Drop the bgl's and textures into the already installed Sproat Lake scenery and texture folders and say yes to overwrite or replace. By Roger Wensley.

  5. FS2004 Scenery--Sproat Lake CAA9 Vancouver Island BC

FS2004 Scenery--Sproat Lake CAA9 Vancouver Island BC, Canada. Sproat Lake is in the middle of southern Vancouver Island, 6 miles west of the town of Port Alberni and 30 miles directly south of Comox Valley Airport. The lake is some 14 miles long and at the eastern end there are a lot of houses with docks and boats, and in the offshoot called Upper Sproat Lake it has the Sproat Lake Tankerbase CAA9, home to two Martin Mars firefighting planes. They are just huge, and their capacity for carrying huge amounts of water for fire fighting has kept them in use since their construction in the 1940's. They have finally been retired from fighting fires, having been first retired from military service in 1958.This scenery is made for use with Ultimate Terrain; there was another version made several years ago which either predated or ignored UT. This scenery is for the month when a Mars was being repainted before retiring to a museum as a military plane, date unknown but perhaps 2013? Because of hills adjacent to the lake the landing of the AI Mars may or may not take place, depending on wind direction and whether or not it flies into solid rock before landing. Take off and departure seem to be more reliable than landing, and there are other AI flights too. By Roger Wensley.

  7. FS2004 Scenery--Marsa Alam Airport Demo

FS2004 Scenery--Marsa Alam Airport Demo, Egypt (HEMA-RMF). This FS2004 project reproduces the Egyptian Marsa Alam International Airport (IATA: RMF, ICAO: HEMA) located on the Red Sea coast. If you are a holiday-flights pilot, this airport is a must have! In the scenery you'll find all buildings (airport, close surroundings and Port Ghalib resorts), hundreds of custom made detailed objects, static and animated vehicles and a photoreal airport background. Each scenery part and object (frame rate friendly thanks to the low poly design) has photoreal textures and everything is placed in the right position (which has been seen on summer 2016 at the real airport). English extended handbook is included. Watch the screen shot and the demo video on the Albysim youtube chanel and enjoy all scenery features (in this free/demo edition some features are limited). 10. FS2004 Scenery--Barrow Airport Update

FS2004 Scenery--Barrow Airport Update. This is a small addition to Wiley Post-Will Rogers Memorial Airport (PABR), Barrow, Alaska (AK), namely the ground runway signage on each taxiway, forgotten in the original posting. Plus the "installation" bgl of the static Piper Supercubs, which is required for them to show up. Just add the three . bgl's to your Barrow installation and say yes to replace for two of them. You already have the required textures. By Roger Wensley.

  11. FS2004 Scenery--James T. Field Memorial Airport

FS2004 Scenery--James T. Field Memorial Airport (CYCE) Ontario, Canada v1. This is an updated version of the original post of 12 October, revising and adding to AI, parking, rear fences, paths from apron to hangar doors, etc. It is complete in itself, or the parts can be used to update the AI (including a Lockheed Constellation at CYCE for interior modifications) and the CYCE scenery bgl's. The village of Centralia is in southern Ontario, 55 miles west of Kitchener and 25 miles northwest of London, close to the shore of Lake Huron. The population is miniscule. The housing shown in FS2004 to the east is the housing that was part of the original military airfield but shown way bigger than it is (or was) in reality. The airfield is ex-military and was previously listed as Huron Airpark before being officially named the James T. Field Memorial. The field is owned by Goderich Aircraft Inc, a company that fits out aircraft with new interiors including instrumentation, seating, and paint schemes. Their main customers are business jet owners, and the AI here is oriented towards Lear and a classic old airliner. There are now two runways in use, the third being closed and marked as such (though still listed in the AI for you to select one to land on). The main runway is 10-28 and just over 5,000 feet. The second runway is 16-34 and 4, 400 feet, with only identification numbers and centerline markings. There appear to be no apron lights, taxiway lights or runway signage currently installed. There is a small club hangar (and club room) adjacent to the main apron at the southern end, with GA parking, and there are two large hangars (one new) used by Goderich at the northern end. The remainder of the original large hangars are now in use as light industrial units unrelated to aviation, the most obvious of which is a garbage collection company with numerous parked garbage trucks. One of the hangars adjacent to the apron does incorporate what appears to be a new set of hangar doors (the red one) but it is unclear if this is actually in use for a plane. The control tower is no longer in use, and there is only limited snow clearance in the winter by Goderich; presumably they only clear it when they need to use it themselves. By Roger Wensley.

  15. FS2004 Scenery--Alaska South Slope 12 - Teller K54

FS2004 Scenery--Alaska South Slope 12 - Teller K54. There are four main northwestern Alaska towns which are serviced by Alaska Airlines, and from which local flights spread out. The northernmost is Barrow. Southwest of Barrow is Kotzebue, then Nome, and the furthest south is Bethel (not yet made). This is the fifth in a series for local flights from Nome, and it is on the coast around 55 miles east of Wales, and 55 miles northwest of Nome. There are two other airfields around a large lagoon that is almost totally enclosed from the sea, and Teller is on the eastern shore, just 15 miles east of Port Clarence and 5 miles southeast of Brevig Mission, both already posted. Teller has a population of around 230, down from the 5,000 or so in the early 1900's after the Bluestone Placer Mine struck gold. Tollef Brevik was a Lutheran missionary who was both a pastor and teacher for the Inuit in the area from 1894 onward, traveling from community to community but based in Teller, where the Teller Mission Church was later renamed the Brevig Mission. The name was later appropriated and used for the current village of that name; he was surely very well regarded by the local population. Unusually, it is possible to drive from Nome to Teller in summer, on a dirt road. Conversely, the road that shows in FS2004 to the north towards Brevig Mission (courtesy of Ultimate Terrain) does not in fact exist except in winter, when it is established on the snow by the tire tracks of users. The airstrip is southeast and 2 miles by road from the main part of the village on the spit, with a gravel runway 02-25 which is 3,500 feet of gravel. The AI is the usual for this area, Bering and ERA with some GA and cargo by Everts. By Roger Wensley.

  16. FS2004 Scenery--Alaska South Slope 11; Brevig Mission KTS

FS2004 Scenery--Alaska South Slope 11; Brevig Mission KTS. There are four main northwestern Alaska towns which are serviced by Alaska Airlines, and from which local flights spread out. The northernmost is Barrow. Southwest of Barrow is Kotzebue, then Nome, and the furthest south is Bethel (not yet made). This is the fourth in a series for local flights from Nome, and it is on the coast around 50 miles east of Wales, and 60 miles northwest of Nome. There are two other airfields around a large lagoon that is almost totally enclosed from the sea, and Brevig Mission is on the northern shore, just 12 miles northeast of the already-posted Port Clarence. Brevig Mission has a populaton that has risen to 390 in recent years. Tollef Brevik was a Lutheran missionary who was both a pastor and teacher for the Inuit in the area from 1894 onward, travelling from community to community but based in Teller, 6 miles southeast. the village now called Brevig Mission was founded at a later date (unknown to me) and took his name. The airstrip is just east of the village, with two gravel runways; 11-29 which is 3,600 feet of gravel and 04-22 which is 2,600 feet and with PAPI on 22. The AI is the usual for this area, Bering and ERA with some GA and cargo by Everts. By Roger Wensley.

  17. FS2004 Scenery--Alaska South Slope 10; Port Clarence KPC

FS2004 Scenery--Alaska South Slope 10; Port Clarence KPC. There are four main northwestern Alaska towns which are serviced by Alaska Airlines, and from which local flights spread out. The northernmost is Barrow. Southwest of Barrow is Kotzebue, then Nome, and the furthest south is Bethel (not yet made). This is the third in a series for local flights from Nome, and it is on the coast around 40 miles east of Wales, and 65 miles northwest of Nome. There are two other airfields around a large lagoon that is almost totally enclosed from the sea, and Port Clarence is on the end of the enclosing spit. Port Clarence was, until the LORAN navigation system went out of use, a Coastguard Station that had a LORAN transmitter, with an impressive mast that was 1,350 feet tall. It "was" as the mast was demolished in 2010, after the LORAN systems had been closed down in stages (LORAN-A in 1980 in the US, LORAN-C in 2010). In the meantime the runway had been lengthened to around 8,500 feet, and continued to be used by the Coastguard. Port Clarence has a population of 24, in theory, though presumably the census information refers to Coastguard personnel in the buildings of the LORAN station. The date for this scenery is anytime you like so long as it is before 2010 as the mast is still there. The AI includes Coastguard C-130 Hercules and helicopter flights, plus a weekly fuel delivery by Everts Air Fuel in a fancy color scheme (Wednesday) and a daily visit by Bering so Coast Guards can go to civilisation in Nome. 18. FS2004 Scenery--Merrill Field PAMR 2016 V3 With Fedex 727

FS2004 Scenery--Merrill Field PAMR 2016 V3 With Fedex 727. This v3 version of Merrill Field 2016 finally adds the Fedex 727 to Merrill Field, the error being totally the creator's but left as unreported by all but two of the downloaders. Testing on the computer of one of the reporting downloaders solved the problem, and revealed the requirement to have the aircraft "installed" on every users computer. User input is required, but only two out of a total of around 500 downloaders!? This is not a stand-alone scenery. Put the "Fedex727.bgl" into the scenery folder of your downloaded Merrill Field V2 or modified V1 and the 727 will be visible. You already have the textures in the scenery texture folder. 21. FS2004 Scenery--Alaska South Slope 9 - Wales IWK

FS2004 Scenery--Alaska South Slope 9 - Wales IWK. There are four main northwestern Alaska towns which are serviced by Alaska Airlines, and from which local flights spread out. The northernmost is Barrow. Southwest of Barrow is Kotzebue, then Nome, and the furthest south is Bethel (not yet made). This is the second in a series for local flights from Nome, and it is on the furthermost western mainland point of Alaska, Wales IWK. It is 110 miles northwest of Nome and on the eastern shore of the Bering Strait, with a view of the two Diomede Islands. Wales is a small village with a population of only around 145, strung along the beach on a single road. The airfield is at the northwestern end of the village, with a runway of 4, 500 feet of lit gravel aligned 35-17 and an apron at the southern end. There are scheduled flights by the usual Era and Bering Air, both of them originating in Nome and also visiting Shishmaref. The AI includes these flights along with Northern Air Cargo and GA. The runway is just long enough to accomodate a DC6 (as is Shishmaref) and the AI has been revised to include this, along with a revision of the parking at Shishmaref. To the southeast of Wales is Tin City, which was built as a base for the support of radar on the hills between the two. The radar is now automatic and unmanned and the base is unused except for the annual maintenance and fuel supply; now included is the hilltop radar and the remains of the cable lift, which was used to get the material for the original station up to the top from the beach below. 22. FS2004 Scenery--Alaska South Slope 8 - Shishmaref PASH

FS2004 Scenery--Alaska South Slope 8 - Shishmaref PASH. There are four main northwestern Alaska towns which are serviced by Alaska Airlines, and from which local flights spread out. The northernmost is Barrow. Southwest of Barrow is Kotzebue, then Nome, and the furthest south is Bethel (not yet made). This is the first in a series of airfields for flights from Nome, and it is Shishmaref, 125 miles north of Nome on the far side of the Seward Peninsula. Shishmaref is a village on one of a string of islands off the northern shore of the Seward Peninsula, with a population of around 560. Like other similarly-sited villages (Kivalina, for instance) it is feeling the effects of coastal erosion and there are plans for an eventual relocation. The airfield is just beside the village, with a runway of almost 5,000 feet of lit asphalt aligned 05-23, with PAPI on both ends. There are scheduled flights by Era (now renamed Ravn) and by Bering Air, both of them originating in Nome. The AI includes these flights along with Everts Air and GA. By Roger Wensley.

  24. FS2004 Scenery--Alaska South Slope 7 - Kobuk OBU

FS2004 Scenery--Alaska South Slope 7 - Kobuk OBU, DCK AK. There are four main northwestern Alaska towns which are serviced by Alaska Airlines, and from which local flights spread out. The northernmost is Barrow. Southwest of Barrow is Kotzebue, then Nome, and the furthest south is Bethel (not yet made). This is a continuation of the series for the flights from Kotzebue, 170 miles to the east where Kobuk is on the bank of the Kobuk River, and Dahl Creek is 2 miles to the north. Kobuk is a small village on the Kobuk River, like Ambler and Shungnak, but with a population of only around 150. The river is the reason for the existance of the villages as it served (and still does) as both a source of food and a transport route. The airfield is just beside the village, with a runway around 4, 500 feet of lit gravel and aligned 09-27, with PAPI on both ends. There are scheduled flights by Era (now renamed Ravn) and by Bering Air, both of them originating in Kotzebue and routing east to Ambler, Shungnak, Kobuk, and then back again. The AI includes these flights along with Everts Air and GA. The FS2004 airfield has been relocated by approximately a mile to the correct position, and the elevation accordingly adjusted. The Dahl Creek strip is publicly owned, with no maintenance and a deteriorating gravel runway that has not long to survive. The video shows how close Shungnak and Kobuk are. By Roger Wensley.
