  1. I agree Michael, also they flew at night and finding their way plus being attacked and as you know a lot never made it back. I worked with a guy who was a very nice placid type of man, we learned he was a rear gunner in a Lancaster, his plane got shot down, he and another survived the crash and the French resistance got to them before the Germans. He actually went on a mission with them and they blew up a rail track, after a time he made it back to England, he never told any of us about it, we learned because the RAF were honoring him at a dinner dance and it was in the local newspaper other wise we would never have known. His name was Len Royal, he was a bit older than me and by now I guess he may have passed away as it was years ago.
  2. Well I found my old thread but sadly I lost a lot of my paints when my hard drive crashed, I still have some and slowly building up again, this was one that got lost, I also did another I thought I had posted that but I couldn't find it. Col.
  3. Jan all your screenshots are beyond amazing, I would love to have my sim looking half as good. You must have a top notch PC and graphics card to achieve that. Col.
  4. Resurrected one of my older threads featuring the modified Avro Lancaster (Lancastrian). Col.
  5. This is the Alpha Vickers Wellington Mk1 MK2 MK3. 1st flight was June 1936 and introduced in October 1938 then retired in 1953. She was a long range medium bomber that flew mainly night raids till 1943 then superseded by 4 engined faster and better armed Lancaster. Mk1 MK2 MK3 Col.
  6. This is the Avro Manchester, 1st flight was in 1940 and retired in 1942, reason she was Underpowered and unreliable. She was the forerunner of the famed Avro Lancaster, the Manchester was redesigned and powered with 4 Rolls Royce merlin engines, which she later became known as the Lancaster. Col.
  7. This is the Wings of Power Lancaster Mk1 Grand Slam, as you see only a tail gunner, and look at the under-belly, they converted her to carry a large bomb load. Col.
  8. They tried to make it as real as possible then it made me think how slow it was compared to fighter aircraft that they had to face, I know it had guns and it needed them as well, I only did a short flight and it took ages so thinking they had to fly over the channel, complete a mission and back must have been exhausting. Then there was the Grand slam version that only had a rear gunner, they reduced a lot of weight so it could carry a bigger bomb load from what I understand, (Dam Busters). Col.
  9. I have been trying out the Wings of Power Avro Lancaster MKIII, engine sounds are fantastic, she has as real as can be proper performance, flies slow/faster at various altitudes, real fuel consumption etc. Col.
  10. When that happens I sometimes copy the original livery and save it then clean off the original or the copy and then do my own paint scheme, after you are satisfied put back the copy/backup and add the new entry to aircraft.cfg Col.
  11. Sometimes I like the worn beat up look over the nice shiny models, they look more real. I know at air shows we get the old aircraft that have been looked after and are nice and shiny but there are times when that shoddy looking AC is your pride and joy. Col.
  12. Nice Michael, I see you have ship traffic too makes a big difference when flying over the water. Nice shots my friend. Col.
  13. Daryl is that FS2020 and do you have Orbx installed? If no Orbx then it looks good without it. As already said those shots are great mate. Col.
  14. Hi Michael, Yes I have Orbx on FSX but I found a converted one for FS9, a bit tricky to load and it did look OK for a while, then I may have done something I'm not sure but for some reason it kind of got distorted, so like I said above I installed FSGlobal and that looks a lot better, also I don't get the repeat tiles like flying over a giant carpet effect. Col.
  15. I too have the boxcar in a few versions, I love aircraft like this. Col.
  16. Hi Jan, yes it probably passed over there but it did leave from DeKooy, I do have Den Helder, I will do some AI around there as well. As for the scenery, I downloaded a converted version of Orbx, it was OK for a while but it started to stretch and look awful so I looked for something else. Then I was looking at some of my old disks and low and behold I had FSGlobal, so I thought 'Why not' and I installed it. So far so good, don't know why I took it off years ago but glad I kept the disks. Col.
  17. Ty Jan, This particular Heli was leaving DeKooy EHKD to do a TnG at a waypoint in the North Sea. Col.
  18. Been playing around a lot with some military AI, recently I got the NH-90, I came with just the metal grey but I wanted to change the SAR (Search and Rescue) version, so I altered the colours and did a bit of my usual fictional on it. She does vertical take-off too, flies nice as well in AI in FS2004. Edited: Forgot to say this is a Dutch mil version. Col.
  19. Lots of people mess up from time to time and we see posts where others say, "You will need to do a fresh install," or words to that effect. So if you have proof you bought it that should suffice in my mind. Even some of the flight sim online stores put your download in a place you can download again if you get a new PC or mess up along the way, so again what if your PC crashes and you buy a new one, do you have to purchase FS again? Col.
  20. As the title says, this section was lively at one time but posts now are far between, I am finding myself going on the other website for answers/replies. Col.
  21. Nice model, only problem I found was I couldn't see the runway over the cockpit, had to go outside mode to land, otherwise it's great. Col.
  22. Hi Michael, I spend most of my time in Xplane now, some of the aircraft sounds in there are way off, but I tried changing the sound and it isn't easy, not like in FS. Also I like to tweak a lot of my aircraft and tweaking in there is also not easy. Col.
  23. I downloaded 2 new textures for the Howard dga-15 by Paul Mort here in the library, they are all jumbled, what I mean is they seem to be upside down and/or horizontal/vertical so not showing right on the aircraft. I did try and turn the textures in all different ways but still they show up wrong, I left a comment on the downloads pages. Has anyone else got this problem? Col.
  24. Paints not working right, please advise. I can't insert image from my PC to show you on here, sorry. Col.
  25. I downloaded both flies for the Howard but the livery was all over the place, I tried turning the image vertical and/or horizontal but couldn't get it right. The default livery was OK. Col.
