  1. I did a quick search but not really found the answer, I am thinking of purchasing 2020 and I noticed there is a Standard and Delux so is the difference besides the price of course please? I just purchased XP12 and I am half sorry, I wish I had plumbed for this instead, I already own FS9, FSX and XP11 and now XP12 so not new to the sims. Col.
  2. Well I Did try again later and again got the 504 error time out and to try later. So again I tried later and this time I got the optoin about the scenery so I de-selected some and just had one lot to load, it scanned again and this time it started the download. The spped and time kept flucutating from minutes to hours, at one stage it went to 9 hours then back to minutes, finally it finsihed and I went through the settings and now I'm flying. So far I'm happy with what I'm seeing but this digital download thing needs sorting badly., what crosses my mind is if for whatever reason I change computers have I got to go through this whol process again, if so I'm dreading it. Col
  3. I downloeded the demo to see what it was like, after a long download, only got a few mins to try it then got the screen to buy no other option but to buy. Anyway I decided to buy then proceded to download the full version, this took all day, very slow download plus it kep stopping, I had to manually restart it. Finally got down to 10 seconds then got the escreen 504 Error, it had timed out, and to try again later, so I did try again and it seemed to have scanned what I had so far then got the 504 screen again telling me to try later. Geez!!! Am I annoyed, you bet I am after waiting all day and paying out money from my pension to get this probem. Also the demo download took ages and during the download it was was including all the aircraft, seemed to be lots of scenery, and livery for the aircraft and much more, then when you start the demo you only get a few minutes so why include all that in the demo, what a waste of time? Col.
  4. Ha Ha, the laugh was on me, after struggling with the cables for the 2nd hard drive, I was putting the sides back on the PC and spotted another cable, it was hid behind a few more, so it was back to sort them out a bit better. I got FS2004 installed plus my backed up aircraft and scenery, tried one flight and all is well so far, probably FSX tomorrow the Xplane11. Col.
  5. I normally do Bernard, did you use the air file as well, not sure if that might help. I presume you followed it to the runway they take off vertical from there. Try another it might just be that one but I'm sure I have the CH-34, Ill check but I'm still setting up again. Col.
  6. Bernard I cheated on the Helicopters, I altered the CFG in the civil ones copied the Mil entries over. As for the seaplanes I did my own afcads, got a few dotted about, I only use them for AI, but fun to watch. Col.
  7. I just added another 1TB hard drive, I am formatting it as I type. It was a pain to install as the cable management was so good I had to undo some of it to get the cables to reach, I managed it by moving the DVDrom down a bay making the cables longer, also just changed the graphics card, the one in it wasn't that good. I put my old Nvidia GEForce GTX 1050Ti, it was OK with the sims last time, installed the drivers and up to date lol. Col.
  8. Yes we all have our own favourite way and if it suits you then that is fine. Going back further up the thread about VFR flying off, I have had them do that and no high ground in the way, they did it at every airport, so after that I just used IFR. This may have been a glitch in my setup that caused the VFR to do that I don't know, I said earlier if high ground was in the way ATC always told the AI to fly higher to avoid then lower when clear, it always worked for me. I use Traffic View Board to follow the AI plus you can hear the ATC talking to it if you click that button. I've got helicopters and seaplanes as AI as well, when I first started with helicopters they flew like a cessna but now got them vertical take off which is more realistic. If you go on MAIW (Military AI Works) you can download some choppers there and they do vertical take off, plus they have lots of other AI aircraft for both FS9 and FSX, take a look. Col.
  9. Hi Larry, I did have something on those lines on my old PC, but I didn't have the facility or the program know how to do system image. I had 3 drives, and put the sims on the 2nd and used the 3rd for backup stuff, like a big store of files in separate folders. The thing is I have Windows 10 in the 2tb main drive, so moving it might and knowing my luck will muck it all up lol. Col.
  10. Yes TY Larry, on my old PC I did have them on 2nd HDD, and true it was easier to manage but I never had a 2TB hdd before. I think I will take your advice mate and install a 2nd HDD then start the process of installing flight sims lol. Col.
  11. I just got myself a new PC: Windows10 pro, i7 3.30GHz, 16GB ram, Nvidia GTX650, 2TB HDD. I know loads of room to install FS9, FSX and Xplane11 which I have, would you recomend adding a 2nd HDD and install the Sims on that or just use the main HDD? Col.
  12. If you use AIFP3 there is a tick box in that too for IFR or VFR, I find that a lot easier to use myself. Also another tip if you do a TnG (touch and go), for exaample lets say you have it set to tng at 09:00 set the next time for it to stop to 4 mins after 09:04, you may find it will do two circuits then request to change and go back to it's destination. Asl if AIFP make sure you uncheck the TNG tick box for the return flight unless of course you want to to do TNG's on return, my self I like it to just land. Col.
  13. I have not had this issue of VFR not showing but for some reason my VFR fly to the destination airfield then veer off on approach and carry-on flying, they never turn back, they just fly off to neverland. Also I noticed with VFR if you have for example set the altitude in you flight plan to 6000ft and the aircraft comes to a mountain of say 10000ft it crashes into it. With IFR with the same flight plan ATC will tell the aircraft to climb to avoid the mountain and descend when clear, which is a nice touch. Going back to your problem John above may have hit it on the head, please get back to us with if it works or not. Col
  14. Hi Luke, I know it just bugs me when I want to keep things tidy seeing aircraft names in the list like it's a program. Col.
  15. Thanks but no thanks Paul mate, had trouble with them a while ago, I bought the full package and when I went to verify, it wanted me to pay again, got in touch with them and they had no record, I sent them the email confirming. Then they sent me a link to register it, the link refused, cut the story short after a few emails I gave up and counted it as a loss. I went online and a few more were having the same problem. Col.
  16. Must admit I never knew there was a dll for removing the jaggies, I am always trying to alter my graphics card settings. Must look more into it for that file, I would like to know if there is one for W10 and you mentioned the one for W7. Col.
  17. I noticed if/when I put FS on an external hard drive when I 1st connect it then puts stuff in my hidden files, also when I install a new aircraft from a download it gets listed as installed programs, I do have aircraft backed up on disks and pen drives which I can copy and paste but newly installed one get on the list. I guess that's the way the system works but wish there was a way to install without it going in the listed programs, just to trim things down I mean. Col.
  18. The file should be in the PC you copied FS from check on there. Col.
  19. Yes got a Virus checker, also slightly off topic I found my Windows 7 ultimate install, so just installed it, still setting it up. I put it on spare PC so going to install FS on it like I had once before when it ran OK, might just use this just for FS and avoid putting other stuff on it, I still have my saved aircraft and other FS stuff. Thank you guys once again for your help, will keep you updated lol. Col.
  20. Thanks D, After I formated my drive and re-installed first thing I did was check my back but as it happens my bank password is hidden along with a few others. relating to this subject when I was working there was a young guy came in out office to update some program his company had on one of our computers. He seemed OK and we got talking, during our convesation the virus subject came up and he said he had written a few and put them on the Net. I asked him why and he thought it was funny, he said it was fun, I ended up having a argument with him and I never spoke to him again after that. He had PC skills and was putting them to good use in his job but also doing malicious stuff in his private life outside work, so to him it was fun and a joke. Col.
  21. I found my Windows7 install disk, put it on a spar hard drive, but for some reasin it would not install the wifi drivers, I have wifi disks but it would not install, so no internet. Just out of interest I had another spare drive, I installed Windows10 on that and it didn't even need the wifi drivers I got the logon screen during the install, any ideas why W7 was having a problem? Col.
  22. Ty I'll look in to it, I'm now on Windows 10 pro after a clean install, not loaded FS yet, just more or less less setting things up.nothing fancy i5 4590 3.30GHz 8gig Ram 900 or so gig left on HDD. only prob is onboard graphics so probably only run FS9, the gpu slot is close to the power pack so not room to install one unless I seach for a really thin one but don't hold much hope there. Col.
  23. In the end I I wiped my hard drive and re-installed Windows, what a mess. The other site I got the download from was Flyaway, had things off there before no issues this must have been a bad on that had a hidden virus. Col.
  24. TY Charlie, Still got it, defender was useless, going to have to find a decent remover. Wondering if to just format the drive, and start again. Col.
  25. I recently Re-Installed FSX on this new PC running Windows10, it was running OK but I wanted to add a few more bits, I found some utilities on another site, I downloaded them then went to install one, I got a popup from W10 to say it was dangerous and not to install, so I tried another and same again. Then my PC went in to a daft mode, popped up screens asking to 'Allow' I couldn't cancel them out, then Defender popped up saying it had found some viruses, it listed them: Krypter Racoon & Wacatac. I tried to remove them with defender but defender wasn't accepting my mouse click, so now I'm doing a full scan, why do people do these things, do they think we will be impressed, just crazy. Any way rant over see what defender can do, failing that might need to buy a virus program. Col.
