After the system scan of XP12, it didn't find any faults, told me to start the sim, so started it and the error is still there, it crashed again. So now in the hands of Laminar techs, hopefully they can sort it. Col.

If it isn't one thing it is another, just got a popup when starting XP12, somehow the master sound banks is damaged and I have to re-install XP to hopefully fix it. Geez! I don't fanct going through that again. Col.

Well I just bought the Standard Disk version, still having a nightmare but that is another story. Why did MSFS go this route? What happened to the more simple way, you either download or disk install, it finished, you enetered the code, it then played, job done. I often think a team sit round the table and get their heads together and think how can we complicate it, maybe there is a method in it, because now you have to phone or send emails, get on to the chat etc, thus giving people jobs, even then you don't always get the answer. Got mine off XP. I often reset my router to clear it out and yes it does improve a bit, I have not a fast download speed anyway so have to make do. I was on the XP site and a few others were saying the same as me, their connection kept pausing, if they left it to run like I did next time they looked it had paused, I left mine overnight at first, next morning it had paused, after restart it had about 2 hours to go, paused again a few times saying 504 error. It was a pain so that is why I plumbed for the disks on this. Col.

Well partly solved the problem... Just uninstalled it. May try again when I get in the mood. Col.

Maybe you are right, best get on to them to stop selling the disk versions lol. To be honest I recently downloaded Xplane12, it was herendous, took over a day, the download kept stopping, I had to manually restart it plus it was slow so I didn't fancy going through that again, instead I got this lol. Col.

Yes done that it just shows 3 spining icons then after a while they stop and it says 'pending'

when the disks finished installing it took me to the miscrosoft store page there was an option for pre-order, I clicked on that then realised it wasn't what I wanted but in doing so lost the other option to possibly start the game or update. I put disk 1 back in and it took me to the store again but no option to start the game.

Yes done that just brings up FS2004 even though I have FSX and Xplane installed.

Found my library on the Xbox, it shows but won't let me click on ith there either. Col.

Do you mean in the microsoft store, that one comes up but not accepting any mouse clicks? Col.

I just finished the disk install, but I can't find where to start it, I looked on the Xbox thing, I found the part where it says I own it but I noticed I am not signed in do I have to joinn xbox or something? I have no icon as well on my desktop to go to thye game. Col.

I got my disks today, putting 2020 on a spare HDD (G) I created a folder on the G drive called FS2020, put disk 1 in and I selected it install there, it started and finished then got the popup asking for disk 2, put disk 2 in and it asked for the path, I selected the path but it says can't find it. I installed disk 1 again and same thing disk 2 can't find the folder. What have I done wrong please? Col.

I just put a 2TB HDD in the PC ready for when the disks arrive. Col.

I don't have my copy of 2020 yet but was reading the thread. I can sympathise with you Dave, I've been there a few times, it drives you nuts and like you in the end after a format and a new istallation and tidy up you do feel better. You promise yourself no more installing things I don't need... Then you do lol. Side issue Tim is a good man, he has helped me numerous times with problems I've had, he goes out of his way to help when and where he can. Col.

Hi Dan, I was thinking exactly that after I posted my comment above, I'm sure there are and will be more addon aircraft and scenery just like the other sims. I mentioned above I bought Xplane12 and after having issues I half wish I hadn't bothered and just gone for FS2020. My Grandson has the standard edition and he is happy with it and he too has got extra aircraft, so he can advise me as well. Pity we have to leave the disk in the drive with the disk version, hope they get a workaround for that, I have Xplane11 as well and every so often it askes for the disk to verify I have legit copy, I know it only takes a minute to do but annoying when you click to go then the screen pops up asking for the disk. I have the gold edition on W10, have you tried running it as Administator, right click then run as admin? Just a thought. Col.

I have this model, I got mine on a disk. sometimes when I add a new livery, I copy one of the other entries from the aircraft.cfg then paste it back at the bottom of the other then edit certain lines to the new livery. also many times a simple spelling error can cause a no show, or upper case instead of lower case letters, a missing full stop etc. Make sure the new texture name matches the one in the cfg, is the air file spelt the same, treble check everything. Remember to change the new entry number in the list, I have forgot that at times. Col.

Thanks David but I already bought the standard, it's on it's way, should have it by next week. I know what you mean though, you would think seeing as you are a valued customer already MS would cut you a deal. I once bought some scenery then later found out because I was a senior and on an old age pension I could have got it cheaper, when I contacted them they replied, "We don't back track on sales, any further sales you will get them on a reduced rate." Well that kind of thing puts you off any further sales, some companies fail to see it like that. Col.

Ty that was great, think I may just buy the standard eddition. As for new software, after tweaking both FS9 and FSX then getting XP11 it was a shock, and as you say a learning curve, still not got my head round Xplane. I have my sims on a seperate hard drive so if I get this it will joing them. Thank you for the links they were just what I was looking for, the standard will keep me going for a long time yet lol. Hi Yes I already have XP11 and I never have the disk in the tray buy ty for the heads up on that. I have it installed now but last night added more scenery, just one batch and left it to run overnight, again this morining it had stopped so had to set it off again. After it scanned it only had 18 seconds to run so it was almost done, just a few more files and it would have been complete, any got it now. I have had a few crashes, I can play for around an hour then then it stops saying XP not responding, one mouse or key press gets a pale screen and it locks my PC, even after numerous Crtl Alt Del to end the process it still hangs, I end up cutting the power.
