  1. X-Plane 8 And 9 Supermarine S-6B

X-Plane 8 And 9 Supermarine S-6B. The Supermarine S6B is a British racing seaplane developed by R.J. Mitchell for the Supermarine company to take part in the Schneider Trophy competition of 1931. It was the last in the line of racing seaplanes developed by Supermarine and followed the S.4, S.5 and the S.6. This X-Pane model is light and power is high. Expect a violent tendency to roll to the left on takeoff when leaving the water. The S-6B has no flaps so plan your landing well ahead with a shallow descent. Touchdown on the water almost in horizontal flight. Thanks again to Dataroots for providing the sound files. By Jacques Brault.

  5. X-Plane 9.70+ Fokker D-21

X-Plane 9.70+ Fokker D-21. The Fokker D.XXI was a low wing monoplane with a steel tube fuselage covered in large part by fabric. Following some of the standard Fokker design practice, it had wooden wings and a fixed spatted undercarriage. Power was provided by a Bristol Mercury radial driving a three-blade two-pitch airscrew. When it entered service in 1938 it was a quantum leap forward for the Dutch Army Aviation Group, which until then, had consisted of aging biplanes with open cockpits. The new Fokker proved to be an extremely sturdy aircraft capable of attaining a speed of 700 km/h in a dive. By Henk de Bruin.

  13. X-Plane 9.70+ SIAI-Marchetti S-55

X-Plane 9.70+ SIAI-Marchetti S-55. The Savoia-Marchetti S.55 was a double-hulled flying boat produced in Italy beginning in 1924. Shortly after its introduction, it began setting records for speed, payload, altitude and range. Even though its design was unusual, the Savoia-Marchetti S55 was a remarkably airworthy craft. The Savoia-Marchetti S.55 made a number of early crossings of the Atlantic Ocean at a time when doing so was still a very risky and challenging venture, starting when the Plus Ultra, a Spanish Dornier Wal piloted by Ramon Franco, crossed from Spain to Buenos Aires, Argentina, in January 1926, then Santa Maria under Francesco de Pinedo took off from Dakar, Senegal to Pernambuco, Brazil on 13 February 1927. 17. X-Plane 10+ Zerbe QuintaPlane

X-Plane 10+ Zerbe QuintaPlane. The Zerbe QuintaPlane was an unconventional early aircraft designed by James Slough Zerbe around 1908. There were two similar aircraft; the QuintaPlane which had five wings and the SextuPane which had six wings. At an airshow in San Diego the QuintaPlane hit a hole in the field and collapsed. Because of this, be very gentle when landing. The fuel range at default 1/2 is about 2.2 hours at full cruise. The included README has several photos of the QuintaPlane. By Billy Bargagliotti.

  25. X-Plane 9.70+ Curtiss R3C

X-Plane 9.70+ Curtiss R3C v1. The Curtiss R3C was an American racing aircraft built in landplane and floatplane form. It was a single-seat biplane built by the Curtiss Aeroplane and Motor Company. The R3C-2 was a twin float seaplane built for the Schneider Trophy race. In 1925, it took place at Chesapeake Bay. With 232.57 mph, pilot Jimmy Doolittle won the trophy with a Curtiss R3C-2. It has a fixed pitch prop set to coarse pitch for high speeds, this results in severe torque on takeoff. This means that if you jam the throttle forward, the engine power will torque roll you into the sea, period. By Ron Norvelle.
