  1. So, your Windows 7 FS2004 is there as well... Rename the fresh FS2004 to FS2004-Fresh Run it. If it crashes, copy the FS2004.exe from Fresh into the Win7 sim Run it.. Working?
  2. OK, lets try get back to a basic working version, as in post 1.
  3. Well said, Darren.. Not only does FS9 live, but I try to keep the legacy of developers that have been forgotten, alive as well.. Garry Smith, Edward Cook, there are so many that gave us fun! George Diemer, Greg Pepper, Manuele Villa, Jens B. Kristensen, I MUST always mention Bill Lyons, Kazunori Ito, Ron Jeffers, Mike Stone, Alejandro Villa, John B. Loney, Barry Blaisdell & Premier Aircraft Design, Kevin Espeseth, How can I forget the 'Lost in Space' add-ons from Ronnie Pendercraft, a perfect add-on for Carl Reddin's Space scenery... I actually have a separate Space install! there are so many... Their add-ons still live on...
  4. Hi Neil, As per the post at the top of the forum, did you: 5. Right-click the FS9.exe, select Properties 6. Select Compatibility mode, & select XP 7. At bottom, then select 'Run as Administrator' That should do the trick. But You confused me with all the renaming... So, you installed a fresh install into C:\ (NOT Program Files) You did the patch & no-cd crack & it all works. Did you do the above 'Properties' steps? Then you renamed it to MSFS_Fresh & it all worked Remember to rename the FS9.exe as well!! And it all works? Then you copied over your full install from Windows 7, also into C:\ (not Program Files) It should still have the original named Main folder & FS9.exe Do the 'Properties' steps as above, with the FS9.exe, then right-click it & 'Send to Desktop" Run it! So Now you have 2 FS9 installs, an original install, called MSFS_Fresh, with a matching exe, & you should have a 2nd install, from your old Windows 7, with it's original folder name & exe name... Both should work!! If not, we can try something else, BUT 99.99% should be working!!
  5. And we have the amazing Douglas Kallen's Bull Stearman & Robert Sanderson's Hurricanes... Stuart Green's Gromit, Mentors, Flamingo's, Volpars, Lunar Pilot, amazing unique Russian planes, such as the Myasishhev M-17 & M-55...... By the way, you'll probabably notice that I prefer oldies & unique stuff, no tubes or jets.. I'm no 'bus driver, with all due respect to those that are.
  6. Can X-Plane posts please go into the X-Plane forum? Enough with the X-Plane is better than .... or the reverse..
  7. Many thanks, I've PM'd you Awesome stuff!
  8. Before & After pictures as well, PLEASE!
  9. Maybe the community should hold their horses & just wait awhile, to see if what was promised, advertised is actually delivered. Maybe the community should take responsibility for their quick actions for buying something without checking if it is what they want, not what was advertised? Demanding better & holding Asobo to account? You rushed to buy the game 'as is'.. Dont blame Asobo!
  10. I'm not worried at all. Once the Xbox market opens up, sales will soar (to coin a phrase). As far as abandoning the software, well, sales are already done, so no loss. In the future? There has been more & more add-ons, both freeware & payware being released on a daily basis, so.. no doom nor gloom. Considering the complexity of the software, & the variation of hardware being used, it amazing how well the software is working.
  11. LOL, sorry, I thought you could not understand the instructions, hence the moron comment, so I tried, using small words to explain.. 1933 Australian win? I was not there at the time... was that the last time Australia won against us 'Bokke? Here in South Africa, we have a braai, we know not what a BBQ is!
  12. Why, o why did you all rush in where angels fear to tread to be amongst the first to buy into MSFS? I'm sure you all followed the beta testing comments of the status of the game? But... you wanted to be amongst the first to play! No sympathy & no pity party for those, relatively informed, but decided to dive in anyway! Mea Culpa indeed! Eyes wide open, you decided to buy into the Holy Grail.... LOL, BTW, how on earth can it be called a scam??
  13. Post #3 should explain but, if you cannot understand that, here goes.. 1. Download the FS9.1 update, that's the first file in post #, then run it. 2. Download the FS9.1 patch, the no-cd one, from the 2nd link in post #3 https://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads/files/15244/microsoft-flight-simulator-2004-v91-no-cd-patch/ 3. Go to your FS2004 folder, find FS9.exe, copy it (right-click copy), then paste it into a safe folder, for example, My Documents. 4. Double-click the file just downloaded. 5. you will see a file called fs9.exe 6. Drag that into your FS9 folder & Replace the existing FS9.exe. 7. Start the sim.
  14. FAR from dead, have a look what Tom is doing for us: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php/121244-FS9-rebuild & http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php/121236-fs2004-revamp-underway Great times ahead!!
  15. LOL, indeed. The only backup I've ever had, is a basic full FS9 install on a portable drive, that I use for multiple installs as well as for copying over stuff that I'm not happy with when testing. If FS9 does crash, occasionally, I've found that deleting the fs9.cfg sorts most stuff out. Also, I have a backup of my main Scenery & Add-on scenery folders, as I have been trying to find the best base scenery textures, so I'm throwing all sorts of stuff at the sim. So far, touch wood, being FS9, it shrugs off most issues. Did we not beat Australia 61-22 in 1997??
  16. Have you done the FS9.1 update? If not, have a look here https://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads/files/2795/flight-simulator-2004-update-v91/ Run & install.. then replace the FS9.exe (backup first) with this https://forum.flyawaysimulation.com/forum/topic/40795/fs91-no-cd-patch/ (simple copy & paste to replace) Obviously, no need to back-up the whole FS9 install at all! Nothing, apart from the original FS9.exe needs to be backed up!
  17. In a sim that I've built. MB326 Aermacchi 2 seater, I have 2 screens vertically mounted, representing a panel, then a big screen landscape on the nose, & another small screen landscape, for the rear seat scenery
  18. As I said, I'm not getting OOM's, & I'm also using the 4GB patch from https://ntcore.com/?page_id=371 This very little tool patches x86 executables in order to let them have 4GB (instead of only 2) of virtual memory on x64 platforms. This tool comes very handy for applications which need a great amount of virtual memory like games, 3D renderization, multimedia etc. To gain these 2GB, you just have to use this tool to patch the executable (*.exe file) of the software you want to have these additional GBs of virtual memory.
  19. Me again, I also found the model.moyd in a texture download, so I'm sorted.
  20. Hi Casey, where did you find the model.moyd? From which York?
  21. I've been using 2 screens for many years, with FSNav on the 2nd screen. I can also use it as a scratch pad type screen should I need to move pop-up panels or views there, but mainly for nav use.
  22. Once again, Mark, I agree with you. Anyway, I have a i5 8250U 4core 8GB RAM, 3392 Mhz clock speed. Works well for me & my FS9's, getting 60-90fps, on occasion, dependent on scenery & aircraft.
  23. There are quite a few microlights out there to be found. Lago had a collection, Bill Lyons with his Quad City Challenger ultralight, & a couple of others. I'll have a look in my library when I have a couple of moments..
