  1. It should be C:\FSX only a single backslash. Also, you might have to rightclick the exe or desktop shortcut for the sim, & run as 'Administrator' & also maybe in compatibility mode.
  2. Allow me to be slightly different here... :-) Nothing wrong with a laptop at all! Obviously a lot more convenient. I have an Acer i5 4GB RAM laptop that works extremely well, as it should. Dont knock it, but I'm using FS2004 for various reasons.. It just works, without tweaking ad nauseum It will run a lot smoother than FSX on a 'normal' laptop The are, for me here in South Africa, great freeware scenery & aircraft that FSX does not have. Howard's free add-on really enhances the scenery For me, Golden Wings & the Ford Tri-Motor Project opens up a whole new range of fun stuff. I'm getting in excess of 30 fps, making everything smooth I'm running Windows 10, & all is perfect. The list goes on.... Cheers, Robin
  3. Why not have a Fantasy Division as well? Just for fun?
  4. Awesome stuff. It's nice to know that FS9 has not been forgotten. As we know, simming is more than just planes, & Space is our 'Final' frontier. I know its early days, but do you have any recommendations or ideas of craft? I was actually beta testing the late Garry Smith's Death Star project, with a hidden hanger inside. I'm sure VNASA will obviously be realistic, but Garry's projects was all about simming being a bit of Fact, Fiction & Fun, appealing to a different market. I recall, years ago, there was a virtual NASA VA. Any relation? Best of luck, & I look forward to more news.
  5. Erm... 56 pages of How to make FSX More Interesting.... & you say it this thread is not needed? Anyhow... Case closed!
  6. No problem. FS9 does not need a thread on 'How to make FS9 More Interesting'.. It's great as it is..
  7. Thank you Mr Policeman.. I was just offering interesting alternatives to the FSX community of which I also belong to. (sigh!)
  8. Hi all, I must admit I was getting very bored with my simming. The usual point to point flying & navigation was starting to become tedious & I was loosing interest, especially as my prefered set of wings are the 'lows 'n slows'. One day, in my internet browing, dont ask how I got there, I found The Ford Tri-Motor Project http://www.ford-tri-motor.net/ The late Garry Smith, (creator of many skins for our planes), created a whole bunch of sceneries for that particular era, with many textures as well, & Ive created a separate sim install just for his sceneries. There are some great projects that he has created, including India & China scenery, as well as a Black Hark project, with hidden runways. His philosophy is that simming should be a combination of Fun, Fact & Fiction. He also has created sloping runways. So, what are we looking for within our hobby? Some look for realism, others, including me, find their fun is in immersion. Yes, my rekindling of my simming interest was because of FS9!! This really does not make this interest any lessor than that in FSX or any other sim. Oh, by the way, we have built 2x simulators at our club.. an Avro Shackleton, & an MB326 twin seater, known here in South Africa as an Impala, a trainer used by our South African Air Force. We know that the immersion factor works, when real pilots 'bump' in their seats, anticipating touch down. We using real controls & seats within real fusalage with the Impala, the Shack is 95% scale to fit on a trailer. So, that all keeps our simming interest alive!! P.S. Dont knock it, but we use FS9 for the sims, because we have the correct flight models & freeware scenery that FSX does not offer. Regards from Cape Town, South Africa, Robin Yes, I know it's NOT FSX, but it rekindled my interest in simming.
  9. Aaron, I see your 55GB, & raise to 70.2GB for my 'Ford Tri-Motor' install. My Golden Wings install is sitting at only 38GB. I also have P3D, but that's collecting dust, as FS2004 just keeps on working, &, as I prefer the older, slower & lower planes, I do not have any Boeings or Bus's. My main sim (99%) is the Ford install. Just with the Ford scenery, including sloping runways & ramps, as well as a 'Death Star' floating base with runways, that I was beta testing for the late Garry Smith. I was getting bored with the usual point-to-point flying, when I found the Ford stuff with skins, scenery & various scenarios. So my Ford install only has that scenery, planes & skins,&, as it is also the repository of Milton's older stuff, as well as all Mike Stone's planes. I have also added all of Bill & Lynne Lyon's great stuff. I keep the legacy ongoing, as a tip of the hat to those freeware developers that have given so much to us.
  10. Hi & good Morning from Cape Town. I am one of Howard's very happy simmer, & i havedropped him a line to say 'Many Thanks'. I have built up a great relationship with quite a few freeware developers, as they are the foundation of our hobby. I had also built up a relationship with the late Garry Smith, & was a beta tester for him for his unreleased Death Star project, as well as his Timor ramps & slopes scenery. Guys, you are doing an amazing job. Many Thanks!!
  11. Over the years, I got bored with the point to point flying, so, I'm always trying new things, such as boats, cars & even trains. I witch between my P3Dv1.4, (no Dx10 on my laptop) & (dare I say it)FS2004 where I have all the add-ons from the Ford Tri-Motor project. They have ramps & sloping runways. Simming is supposed to be fun, fact & fiction, & I'm having a lot of fun.
  12. Many thanks, I've got them now. Dirk Stuck has done some great stuff. Kind Regards, Robin
  13. Now that could be fun! Can you please tell where to find the Model T Ford? As well as that vintage glider? Many thnks, Robin
  14. I agree with jgf. I also end up download what I consider to be interesting, & also end up installing much later. I have also built up a great relationship with quite a few freeware developers over the years, when I have either PM'd or emailed them. I have actually become a beta tester for a few guys as well. Yes, a simple thanks is meaningful to developers.
  15. Ok, any success with your scenery as yet?
  16. Try going to the scenery library, deactivate the sceneries, reboot, reactivat them, reboot, then they should be there. This keeps everything in your existing scenery library listing. Plan B is to delete them from the scenery library, reboot, add them in, reboot. Best of luck, Robin P.S. you went from XP to Windows 7?
  17. As Bob Dylan once said, "The answer my friend, is blowing in the wind!"
  18. Many thanks, I actually have FS9 (2x versions) as will as P3d on my PC. I've a Note2 with quite a few sims, including The Flight, Infinite Flight, Simple Planes (awesome), Extreme Landings & a couple of others. I'm always on the lookout for interesting sims & stuff.
  19. Anything decent for Android?
