Well, I have a few 'revamps' of FS2004 My Alaska install, is a complete revamp, as is my Golden Wings, as is my Space install. By adding to the original, using add-ons, the sim becomes a revamp of the original. Yes.. I have rebuilt the sim, using freeware. Nah, when I read the posts, I took it for granted that the revamp would be add-on based. Anyhow, I've always trusted Tom. no doubt there at all that he is developing add-ons, & obviously not a rebuild. Nasty, nasty, unwarranted & uncalled for. I'd like to see what you have done for our hobby & community, apart from publicly criticizing a well-known developer.
  2. Good news is that the Ford Tr-Motor site will be carrying on, thanks to SOH. Dont forget Bill Lyons's aircraft & downloads. Most come with a plane, a story, scenery & a boat or something else. He is also a 'forgotten' developer who made great stuff.. Perfect for GW!!
  3. Just a thought, maybe trying that Nellis at a different level in the library? Move it down? See post #13. I have a complete backup of a clean FS9 install in a portable drive, to cover things like this.
  4. Dont forget to have a look at http://ford-tri-motor.net/ There is enough there for a separate install, or combine with Golden Wings. That site will be closed down at the end of November & is very worthy of have a look at. Some special stuff there, Oval runways & ramps.

Hold your horses, It's obviously not a rewrite of copyright scenery, it will be an add-on, just like any other. I'm not sure as to how your thoughts arose that it will be a rewrite of original source code, & actually quite insulting to Thomas. We thank you for your service, as a forum policeman.
  6. Rupert, Maybe a reading of reviews & a bit of due diligence google research to see if MSFS ticked all your boxes for you, and maybe a bit of patience would have prevented your rant? Remember, with reference to your real-world flying, you do realise that MSFS is licensed as an entertainment product? So you possibly call it a game that simulates a simulator, I suppose. By the way, there are many thousands of users that find it very usable & flyable. You ask as to WHY they chose to change what their previous products were set up for? The simple answer is that those previous products were developed by ACES Gaming Studios, Microsoft's long defunct game designing studio. MSFS is being developed by an independent contracted company, very well established, called Asobo. Maybe you could have saved your $100+ by patience & a bit of due diligence. Mea Culpa.
  7. Hi all, I am having issues with ticking the boxes when trying to get into the site. Is there an easy way? It probably takes about 2-3 minutes before I can get in, with multiple box selections.
  8. I have 8 different installs of FS9, all running separately, obviously not at the same time, without any interference. As it is a different program, of course it will. One is made by Microsoft, the other made by Asobo. Just like Office does not affect Adobe Reader. They are totally different, in fact you can have installs of FS2004, FSX, P3D, MSFS, without issues.
  9. Odd indeed, I've never had any issues, & I've downloaded stuff within the last day or so, on 2 different PC's.

Sorry, enough said about this. Lips zipped.. I should have kept it in the house, & not chatted over the wall with the neighbors.
  11. And for me. Mmmmm, what browser are you using? I'm using Windows 10's Edge (latest).
  12. Very easy, I have 8!!, to keep it themed with different Spashscreens. I have Golden Wings, Alaska, Ford Tri-Motor Project, Heritage & a bunch of others. It also prevents scenery add-on clashes. Quick to do.. Copy & Paste your FS9 install. Rename the folder & the exe in the folder & send that to desktop as a shortcut. 2nd install done! also, scenery in 1 install can be shared to other installs. I just tell my Vintage install scenery library to get scenery from my Golden Wings.

I unreservedly withdraw my previous comments. I was far too quick & impulsive on the draw.
  14. Have a look at Howard's TNW, https://biggles11.wixsite.com/the-natural-world Worthy of a try. And I have a couple of other FS9 installs with different ground textures
  15. Well, they are Vintage scenery, nothing much else has happened since those vintage years. Mix that with Golden Wings & the scenery from Ford Tri-Motor, & you will have plenty to explore.
  16. BUT the Old Hanger is still out there.. http://www.sim-outhouse.com/toh/ Add-ons still available from there.. Especially The Virtual Schneider Project by Ralph Pegram, Bob Hazeldine and others. These files recreate the whole Schneider Trophy Contest of 1929 as freeware for FS2004. Thats aircraft & scenery.

I thought that I should bring this to flightsim.com.. On SOH, http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php/121244-FS9-rebuild-(merged-thread) Thomas Wood, of CR1 software, told us FS9'ers, that he was working on a FS9 'rebuild', with some innovative & unique features, as freeware to the community. His beta tester posted a YouTube clip of some features, from an early alpha test, & the video was promptly shot down on YouTube by a SOH member, of 7 years membership & 43 posts, & who also posted trash speak in the SOH forum as well. The result is yet another well respected developer leaving FS9, because of a troll. This, from Thomas.. I have decided to pull the pin on this development. My customer service girl is being sworn at, abused by people who obviously are against this development. Yes all calls are recorded at Cr1. They will be dealt with by the authorities. Also the amount of nasty emails and messages I'm getting over this is unreal. I work for one day on the sim, make a start how ever small it was in a direction that one else was able to do or wasn't doing and wham I get all this hate. Well the gig is cancelled. I don't need this kind of head ache...seriously. I also think its time for me to concentrate on my new projects, If people don't want this or have nothing better to do then bash designers then let the community die i guess because who needs it. Its probably time for me to retire from this and all forums. I dont think I will be back. I have good friends here but I can talk to them else where. You will have to get updates only from contacting me through cr1 or just wait for Nels at flight sim.com to tell you as he is a very good friend of mine. Seriously Im kinda done right now. Sorry but I was just having fun and it turned out to be nothing but a huge night mare! Bye
  18. Depends what you enjoy flying. If you enjoy the low 'n slow's, have a look at something different.. http://ford-tri-motor.net/ There are some great stuff there, also, look at what Shessi has done.
  19. Enjoy, Please keep us posted, with your FS2004.
  20. My apologies, I was confused for a bit, as I had not seen that contraction of the sim's name, which, by MS & Asobo, is normally contracted to be MSFS. Sorry for the misunderstanding
  21. I luv it when Windows tells us what to do, & nags at us when we dont listen.. UAC, as an example, no use at all, & I've always had it right down.
  22. Maybe the scenery sliders are set too high? Also, turn down the AI.
  23. Still not sure as to which sim it is.. Nice to know?
  24. Same way. you might have to move it down the list. That white spot clicking thing was first seen with Windows 7, I think, if I remember. Still foxes me, occasionally, after a long break. 'shrug' joys of simming..
  25. Awesome stuff.. Welcome to Cape Town. Stop for drinks at Ysterplaat (FAYP}? That's out local SAAF base, just out of view, to the left of the 1st picture.
