  1. Thanks to both of you. I was running in windowed mode and therefore those options mentioned cannot be seen.
  2. Thanks. I have tried pressing the ESC key but that only returns me to the OPTIONS screen where you can select GENERAL, ASSISTANCE and CONTROLS and if I press the ESC key again then it returns back to the screen displayed before pressing the ESC key for the first time.
  3. Occasionally I forget to select a different aircraft from the one which 'defaults' after you start a 'flight' but cannot work out how to get back to the 'start' screen (the screen where you select aircraft, departure and arrival airport etc). Is it possible to 'navigate' back to that screen and restart the entire process or is the only option to shut MSFS2020 down and restart (which takes such a long time). Thanks
  4. Every time I start (boot) my PC (Windows 10) I get an XBOX app automatically start and display it's 'window' which I have to manually close. Remembering 'task manager' allows you to disable/enable programs automatically starting and I used it to DISABLE XBOX app services. My question is this - Can this be done within MSFS2020? It's a most annoying 'feature' obviously installed and enabled when I purchased and downloaded/installed MSFS2020. Would I have been asked did I want this 'feature' enabled during installation? I bet NOT.
  5. At the top right of screen I see what appears to be a name but if it is a name it surely is strange. The same 'name' is used when post scores when I complete a 'challenge'. Maybe it's my username? If in fact it is the 'name' given to me is there a way to change it to something a little more 'normal'.
  6. I opened my wallet took up the excellent discount and got the ORBX Sydney scenery. Actually a bargain right now. Thanks for the 'heads up' for using an add-ons manager. I assume you refer to ModManFX as it states it has been updated for MSFS. Anyway I downloaded and ran ModManFX and set the 'target' as the path to my community folder which I find strangely on my C: drive yet MSFS2020 is on my D: drive. It does not display the folder of A320 liveries I placed there manually a few days ago or the oRBX scenery I purchased and downloaded yesterday or does it only display entries for stuff installed using ModManFX?
  7. That could be the best option especially as it is on special and why not support a local industry. But what about areas not yet covered by ORBX for example Melbourne where once again there are multiple freeware scenery files to download some of which might overlap others. I have not read anything about scenery heirarchy in the community folder or what might happen if scenery files overlap each other.
  8. Finding freeware scenery for my hometown city (Sydney NSW) I find some scenery files are 'described' say as Sydney and others maybe just for say a landmark in Sydney (eg Sydney Harbour Bridge, Centrepoint Tower, Anzac Bridge) which the scenery file for Sydney might already contain. What happens if I place all these files in the community folder as there might be 'conflicts'. Back in FSX there was a method to create a heirarchy so that some files loaded in precedence to others. Do I need to be worried? Is it a 'suck it and see' eg add a scenery file, start up MSFS2020 and see the effect?
  9. I replying to Loki and referring to the version he uses. This is getting more strange since Loki appears to not have any problems regardless of of settings and internet.
  10. Hello Loki, good to 'hear' from you. Even though I don't have any real issues (only trying to assist) I tried what you stated (disabled ethernet and wifi network) BUT MSFS2020 will not start advising me to insert disk 1. Only if I have online functionality set to OFF will it start with them disabled. I downloaded and installed 'standard' MSFS2020 from the 'Australian' Microsoft store - https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/p/microsoft-flight-simulator-standard/9nxn8gf8n9ht?activetab=pivot:overviewtab Could it be that you have a different version installed?
  11. I do understand what you are saying. I merely was trying to help by making suggestions and setting out exactly what I did which works. I spent heaps of my time trying to assist. I have "buttoned my lip" for eternity!
  12. It is very strange (for you). Just to recap visually when you select GENERAL then DATA you must set ONLINE FUNCTIONALITY OFF (see image below) and ENSURE you SAVE AND EXIT to ensure those changes are saved.
  13. If you purchased MSFS2020 online you must have had the internet to do that. Did MSFS2020 ever work for you? I suggest you take your PC to wherever you did the installation via the internet or to a friends house who has the internet, start MSFS2020, set options to OFFLINE, exit and take your PC home and it should work. Sorry I cannot assist you any further.
  14. It has worked for me. I started MSFS2020 using a mobile/cell phone (which I set to act as a hot spot), set for offline then exited. Started up MSFS2020 and I was able to 'get in' and fly. The next time I tried it prompted me to insert the first disk again (even though I had set it to work offline). I wondered why. I then noticed that my model was connected (ethernet) to my PC and was turned on (I had no internet available) and wondered if I turned it off would that make a difference. I restarted MSFS2020 and it allowed me to run it (it warned me that there was no internet but did not tell me to insert the first disk). I downloaded MSFS2020 from the Microsoft store - it is not a steam version. If you say it still insists for the first disk AND you installed it from the Microsoft store I suggest you find an internet connection for your PC (link it wirelessly to a mobile/cell phone which is set up as a hotspot) and check that the settings are still set to 'offline' mode.
  15. Have you checked to ensure that any modem that your PC connects to is turned OFF. I too set MSFS2020 to run offline and it did. The next time I got the "please insert....". I then noticed that my PC showed that it was connected to my modem which was ON even though not connected to the internet. As soon as I turned it off and tried again MSFS2020 then worked. It seems to me that MSFS2020 'knows' that the PC is connected to a modem so assumes the internet is connected and tried to connect even though you have set it to run offline.
  16. I recently viewed a Youtube video on a cold and dark start and MCDU programming. During the procedure the author accessed the MSFS2020 data pages for the aircraft loaded/being used to find the COG (centre of gravity) and also allowing him to alter the amount of fuel and cargo etc. How does one access this 'page' when programming the MCDU? Thanks
  17. Strangely after setting my MSFS2020 for offline (because my cable internet had gone down) and was able to use it. The next time I tried if has mysteriously reset itself to work online. Is this a 'feature' of MSFS2020 (that setting to work offline only works once)? Added later TRICKY. Although my internet cable connection is down it appears that MSFS2020 is smart (not so sure if that is appropriate) to know that my MODEM was still on and connected and as such then tried to connect. I turned the modem off and tried again and it works.
  18. Thanks Loki. I was able to set up my wife's mobile/call phone as a 'hot spot' and connected my PC to the internet via that hot spot. I changed the settings and exited as her phone plan only allows for 1GB downloads/month as she rarely if ever connects to the internet. I did notice though that if when MSFS2020 starts and prompts for a departure andf arrival airport if you don't set that up quickly you get a "press any key to continue" and it never allows you to continue (I remember seeing another thread reporting this problem so that is a BIG HINT.
  19. My internet connection is broken and technician cant come for at leat a day. When I try and run 2020 I get prompted Please insert the Microsoft Flight Simulator Game Disk yet I thought an internet connection was only required for high level scenery. How can I run it offline? I purchased it as a download 4 weeks ago. Thanks John
  20. Thanks for your feedback. It is good to be assured that Asobo and FBW are working on the a320. I had concerns that what we now have will be 'it'. I did NOT know about FBW and will check that out. Thanks again I don't quite understand the Discord channel. When I open the web page it shows I am already logged in (my username, number and avatar bottom left of screen) and when I select user settings/my account it advises me 'unclaimed account' and when I select that and it displays my email address but when I select it it displays that the account has already been claimed.
  21. Just wondering does anyone know if the following could be part of a future update of MSFS2020 with reference to the A320 NEO. Any (cockpit) knobs/switches currently INOP (inoperative) be made operative. Pushback - this appears to be controlled (left, right, stop) by the pilot who seems to have enough to do at this time. XP11 has an addon which allows the path and length of the pushback to be 'preprogrammed' and as such controlled by the tug operator. V1 Vr callouts - could these be added in the future so that the pilot does not have to watch the speed ribbon or do real A320's not have this feature? Thanks
  22. Occasionally when I 'return' to the default cockpit view informational text is displayed twice - like double vision. What causes this and how do I stop it? Thanks John
  23. Hey TightGit when I next visit the UK (was booked for last September but had to cancel for obvious reasons) we must get together as I too am at that age. Maybe we can meet in the 'virtual skies' if we both fly in a multiplayer session one day - I am yet to get to try that out with 2020.
