  1. I just remembered that I have set options for a MAXIMUM FPS of 30 yet FRAPS displays much more than that, anything up to 63fps depending on what is being displayed on the screen at the time. Now that begs a question? Is FRAPS displaying incorrectly? OR Does setting the screen fps(in MSFS2020) to a maximum have NO EFFECT? I tried pressing windows key and G and selecting performance but fps is displayed as ___ ie nothing. Do I have a problem or is this widespread ie doesn't work for anyone?
  2. I totally agree with most of what has been stated. Regarding Beta testing - I often have wondered if the beta testers actually tested extensively and noticed those 'problems' which have been raised over the past months but now I know that perhaps most if not all of them WERE reported by the beta testers but either ignored or shoved to the bottom of the list. I guess that Asobo had/have a list of bugs and 'nice to haves' as 'long as your arm' and it will take time to address them all BUT I just wished that more emphasis was given to known bugs than releasing more scenery - having said that I assume that there are separate 'teams' which works on bugs and scenery. I wonder if Asobo read this forum?
  3. Correction. The 'fraps' fps display cannot be dragged anywhere on the screen BUT you can choose to have it display at any of the 4 corners of the screen. Here is a screenshot with the fps marked with a red arrow (it is quite small so that it doesn't interfere with anything)
  4. I was unaware of this so gave it a go but I have the same issue. I select 'performance' and it displays CPU, GPU, VRAM values but for FPS it displays ___ I downloaded FRAPS which displays fps well and can be dragged to any position on the screen. I recommend it.
  5. Thanks neilends That link didn't help me but I have moved on and progressed and selected 'Explore Public Servers' and searched for MSFS2020 and found two joining one named Simverse. I searched for Gunpilot but it didn't find anything. Is his server private and if so how to you get in touch? Also I haven't yet found anything regarding chatting and voice conservations. I have a lot to explore.
  6. I (my brain) must be missing something as I did use that link and all it results in is - I have 'navigated' around the web site (selecting whatever there is to select and viewed whatever was displayed) but could not determine I need to do. Maybe I'm getting past it (although I am a retired analyst/programmer) or maybe Discord is not intuitive or a bit of both?
  7. Thanks for that. I already have Teamspeak installed (from many years ago) and wondered if there were any 'groups' using FS2020 and now I know and will check that out.
  8. An update on my previous reply. I decided to use a completely different email address which then registered so I now do not get asked to 'claim the account'. Strange that when I attempted to use my usual email address I was 'told' it already existed. Maybe I created a different account earlier. Anyway now to try and work out how to use it. Already I 'searched' for Gunpilot but nothing was found. How do I get information about that user?
  9. I too struggled with this lesson and did it a few times before I was able to complete it successfully. I ended up checking Youtube for a video on this lesson and watched it to see EXACTLY what the author did which I then tried to copy and eventually was able to complete it.
  10. Thanks neilends I started trying to use discord some time ago and registered and now when I start discord it displays my username, number and 'avatar' bottom left of screen. In the list on the left of screen I see HOME (obvious) then FS (Flight Simulator) then FS again (Microsoft Flight Simulator) ? (Project Mega Pack) which then lists heaps of stuff. I keep getting 'asked' to CLAIM ACCOUNT (eg - you can't join voice channels yet - you must claim and verify your account before your can speak). When I attempt to 'claim account it displays my email address and password (eg *******) is displayed and when I continue I am advised 'email is already registered'. I think this is what I found in the past and then just gave up.
  11. I have set up to use multiplayer and have seen other 'players' aircraft at various airfields. I have also googled the question about being able to talk to other users/pilots and it seems this can be done via DISCORD but I can't find any information on how to use Discord for pilot chat/talk. Could someone please advise where I can find either a video tutorial or text tutorial. Is this the best way to do this or can Teamspeak be used and if so where can I find 'groups' to join where FS2020 works?
  12. I also found out that each 'objective' MUST be completed so that it turns GREEN before subsequent objectives can be completed and this sometimes results in what you experienced.
  13. Hello I have experienced problems with another tutorial which I found was my mistake HOWEVER it seems to me that if you don't execute a particular 'instruction/objective' correctly then that 'objective' is not considered complete and the sim will not 'move' onto the next objective Each objective is displayed top right of screen and appears in WHITE and changes to GREEN when completed. You probably are already aware of this especially if you have completely all the previous training missions but I thought I would point that out just in case. If I was better at navigation (haven't tried lesson 8 yet) I would see if I have the same problem.
  14. I haven't experienced stuttering but have noticed lower than usual fps at times when using the flying tutorials even using the same tutorial. Some times the view outside appears to be jumpy like low fps and other times it looks smooth. I usually don't have other apps running at the same time. Next time it happens I will press CTRL SHIFT ESC keys (together) to see if there are any other apps which are using more than say 1% of the CPU.
  15. On further use of the 3rd training session I think perhaps if you don't have the throttle fully (100%) open there are 'problems' as I had the problem again earlier and can't remember if I pushed the throttle (on the joystick) 100% open and so ran it again and made sure it was at the limit of its 'travel' and then there were no problems. The instructor says to fully open the throttle and I think she means 100% open not even 99% is good enough. I will test this theory again later.
  16. Well it seems that there maybe not a bug in this tutorials as I have now been able to complete the tutorial without any issues. For unknown reasons I have found that the trainer some times does not proceed with the next instruction so it appears to me that I have not successfully completed the previous instruction although I cannot understand why. Maybe I just need to keep trying eg when I am told to line up with the center line as sometimes it works and other times it doesn't even though I feel that I am lined up. The Youtube tutorial mentioned before shows that the 152 was far from being lined up with the center line yet the author was able to take off and the instructor then issues the next instruction regardless of the fact that the aircraft was far from being on the center line. Oh well on to the next lesson (actually I will skip the next two as I completed those earlier - jumped ahead).
  17. I'll give anything a try again but wasn't expecting this would solve ANY of the problems. NO it made NO difference which I expected. HOWEVER I did notice displayed on the screen 'use joystick button 5'. I thought that I was pressing button 5 but in fact was using button 12 (change view button) and also the 'hat' switch to look left and right BOTH inside and outside the aircraft. I tried pressing button 5 (Toggle Smart Camera) and WOW the trainers voice then advised "everything looks good, no cross traffic, go ahead and taxi into position" something she (trainer) has never told me before so obviously she was waiting for press of joystick button 5 (instead of just scanning using the 'hat' switch). Anyway I moved onto the runway and lined up and she then instructed me to apply full throttle etc etc and I started to take off - same problem HOWEVER this time after I was re positioned and took off and was instructed to pull back (elevator) I was able to take off woth NOT the same error as I described before. Now 'back to the drawing board' to try and figure out what is required so that I don't get "you are too far down the runway".
  18. I can't completely agree with that as they are 'at the mercy' of the total accuracy of the report. I can remember many years ago after developing an application and got a report of what appeared to be a bug. I walked the user through what they were entering on the keyboard over the phone a few times reproducing what they were telling me and could NOT reproduce the problem reported. I then went to their office and watched what they were doing and found they were pressing a key on the keyboard which they were not telling about. I am NOT 'sticking' up with Asobo (I have plenty of my own criticism of them) but known first hand how difficult it is to interpret a report fully.
  19. IMHO Asobo 'software engineers' use the top end PC's when testing/checking and so don't have much of an idea what is happening to us 'mere mortals' who can't afford top end PC's. Maybe they need to update PC Requirements ie minimum, recommended and ideal specifications. Of course settings can have a huge affect on load on the PC which in turn equates to temperatures.
  20. Thanks for the advice. I have lodged a bug report with the zendesk and interestingly received a reply to advise they they have added it to the Development Team's Internal Bug Tracker! BUT also - In the meantime, we’ll submit this ticket as Solved and contact you if we need any additional Information!
  21. Sorry I must have missed (reading) that one as according to https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/content.php?22216-MSFS-2020-Sim-Update-III-Now-Available IT IS LISTED. The current list of known issues at zendesk https://flightsimulator.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360016027399?input_string=bugs+in+flight+training+-+general+aviation+training is quite small and does not includes those listed in the release 3 notes and appears to be simply an addendum to the list. It seems in the future before wasting everyone's time is to not only 'google' "MSFS2020 LATEST RELEASE" for such things but ALSO to check the zendesk web site "known issues" which contains updates to the 'known issues list'.
  22. Thanks Tim, I have created a bug report as there didn't seem to be anything about this one. I have also bookmarked those web sites for I feel that it may not be the last time I find a bug (found 3 so far).
  23. Hi Tim, I was just creating a bug report at zendesk and during the process I got a link to display 'known issues' with the latest release (16 March) and it displayed (as well as other known issues) - Miscellaneous issues The Cessna Citation Longitude can be slightly below the glideslope as you get close to the airport Once activated, the Switch to Mach units knob won’t return to knots on the Airbus A320neo VNAV can overshoot the climb speed. Disconnecting the AP after take-off and re-engaging it will limit the overshoot impact Beechcraft King Air 350i does not change pitch with VS wheel when Autopilot is enabled. The plane continually loses altitude causing it to crash after loading into the Attitudes & Instruments Training Flight I could not find - Where did you see that?
  24. Thanks nsproles I am now wondering if ALL the tutorials have bugs! Also if Microsoft/Asobo know about this and when we can expect a resolution. Is there somewhere such bugs can be communicated with Microsoft/Asobo? Whinging about it to everyone else in this forum won't get it fixed. Can we get some input from those in the know?
