  1. Airzena Georgian Airlines Boeing B735

FS2002 ProjectAI TGZ Airzena Georgian Airlines Boeing B735. In the mid 1960's Boeing decided to develop a jet, smaller than the B727: The 737 has become the world's most successful jet airliner family. Announced in 1965 the 737 was originally designed for 60-85 passengers. But in the end Boeing decided together with the launching customer to provide space for 100 passengers. Many old parts of the existing B727 were used for the construction of the new twinjet (60% structural and systems commonality). Boeing decided to introduce a new location for the two engines, under the wings. This design made the 737 lighter in contrast to the B727. The 737-500 is the shortest member of the 2nd 737 generation also powered by CFM engines. All three models share the common aircrew type rating. The first -500 flight occurred on June 30th 1989.

  6. Delta Airlines McDonnell Douglas MD-11

FS2002 ProjectAI DAL Delta Airlines McDonnell Douglas MD-11. As DC-10 production was winding down, McDonnell Douglas began studying potential replacements. Originally, designers focused on merely stretching the airframe. As plans became more ambitious, the new design became known as the MD-100, the MD-XXX, and finally the MD-11. Although the MD-11 was essentially just a stretched DC-10, the new design featured many improvements, including winglets for improved aerodynamics, a redesigned tail assembly, a more advanced flight deck featuring an electronic flight instrument system allowing a reduction to two flight crew, and more powerful engines. Four variants were developed, the MD-11P passenger model, MD-11F freighter, MD-11 Combi combined passenger/cargo model, and the MD-11CF convertible model. The program faced repeated difficulties in the late 1980s and early 1990s owing to airline failures and mergers that resulted in the cancellation of many orders. However, 200 were completed by the time production closed in 2001. The MD-11's first flight occured in 1990.

  7. Delta Airlines Boeing B772

FS2002 ProjectAI DAL Delta Airlines Boeing B772. The Boeing 777 is the first jetliner to be 100 percent digitally designed using three-dimensional computer graphics. Throughout the design process, the airplane was "pre-assembled" on the computer, eliminating the need for a costly, full-scale mock-up. The airplane is larger than all other twinjet or trijet airplanes. It brings the twin-engine economic advantage to medium- and long-range markets. The 777 currently is available in five models: 777-200, 777-200ER (extended range), 777-200LR (longer-range), 777-300 and the 777-300ER. The B773 accomodates from 305 to 440 passengers. The aircraft is powered by Pratt & Whitney 4077 or Rolls Royce Trent 877 or General Electric GE-90-77B engines and cruises at a speed of 0.84 mach.

  8. Delta Airlines Boeing B752

FS2002 ProjectAI DAL Delta Airlines Boeing B752. Envisioned as the first of a new family of advanced technology commercial airliners, the B757 retains the narrow fuselage cross-section of the earlier models. General Electric or Rolls-Royce engines are available depending on customer preferences. The 757 is available in several models including the 757-200, 757-300 stretched variant, and 757-200F cargo freighter. About 960 total 757s have been built by 2001 with production still continuing.

  10. Kuwait Airways Airbus A343

FS2002 ProjectAI KAC Kuwait Airways Airbus A343. Launched in June 1987, the A340 entered revenue service in March 1993. Designed as a long haul widebody, the A340-300 and later -200 are free from ETOPS restrictions placed on many of today's popular twinjets. In keeping with Airbus' commonality policy, the A340 shares the same flightdeck (including side stick controllers and EFIS), plus fly-by-wire, basic airframe, systems, fuselage and wing with the A330. The flightdeck is also common to the A320 series, where the design was introduced. The A343 first flew in 1991. The aircraft has a wingspan of 197 feet 10" (60.3m) and a range of 7150 nm (13250 km). The aircraft is powered by four CFM56-5C4 engines and flies at speeds of 542 knots / 1,004 km/h / 0.82 mach. The A343 can accomodate 295-303-335 passengers in "high comfort," three or two class configuration.

  14. Kuwait Airways Airbus A306

FS2002 ProjectAI KAC Kuwait Airways Airbus A306. During the mid-1960s, a number of European governments and aircraft manufacturers discussed the possibility of pooling resources to develop a short-range commercial jetliner. After studying a number of potential designs, attention focused on the HBN-100 being developed by Hawker Siddeley in Britain and Bregeut and Nord in France. Finally, France and West Germany agreed to proceed with the project forming what would become known as European Airbus. Eventually, the conglomerate would come to consist of Hawker Siddeley (now part of British Aerospace), Aerospatiale in France, DASA in Germany, and CASA in Spain with Fokker in the Netherlands and Belairbus in Belgium as major subcontractors. The first design they agreed to construct was a twin-engined wide-body airliner to fill a niche between the B707 and B727, seating between 220 and 330 passengers. This design would become known as the A300. Although of typical airliner layout with a cylindrical fuselage and mid-set swept-wing, the A300 incorporate a number of advanced features for its time, including a wing full of high-lift devices and quiet, fuel-efficient engines. Despite slow initial sales, the A300 gradually made inroads into the airline industry and was being operated throughout Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and North America within a decade. Production of the upgraded A300-600 series continues with over 500 built by 2001. A300-600 with seating for 266 passengers in a two-class layout and a range of 4150 nautical miles.

FS2002 ProjectAI IBE Iberia Airlines Airbus A321-200. The A321 accommodates 150 pasengers in a typical two-class cabin layout, and has 3000 nautical miles range, powered by CFM56-5 or IAE V2500 engines. The Airbus A321-211 is a mid-size, short to medium range airliner which set new standards for comfort and reliability upon its introduction in 1987. The first "all electric" airliner it features a fly-by-wire, computerized flight control system. Advanced aerodynamics coupled with electronic engine controls make it both comfortable and efficient in the air. The A320 has enjoyed great success in direct competition with the Boeing 737. The Airbus A321 has a range of up to 3000 nautical miles, 185 passengers in a two-class cabin, and up to 220 passengers in high-density configuration, powered by CFM56-5 or IAE V2500 engines.
