  1. As far as I know, and the older I get the less I'm certain about what I really KNOW - lol - Points of Interest are just that, the game showing you where stuff is. It does not track your "accomplishment" of flying over them. The sim does track the specific challenges you've completed.
  2. Sorry, not a clue, the runway shows up just fine on my PC.
  3. Regarding our beloved Meigs Field? Not Asobo, but a great FREE aftermarket download is available at - https://flightsim.to/file/4444/kcgx-meigs-field It installs and function with no issues... at least for me and my machine.
  4. Easy-Peasey install - just a few minutes at my internet speed and the game loaded without issue.,Did a short hop from Midway to Meigs in the 152. Worked fine.
  5. I have and use both type systems (have an Extreme Pro joystick of late). I use the joystick to make a quick & dirty flight in the sim when I don't feel like (too lazy - lol) attaching my yoke and throttle quadrant to my PC desk and getting the pedals into position under my feet. No contest that using the yoke, quadrant and rudder pedals makes for a MUCH more 'realistic' sim experience for ME. Real planes mostly use pedals.
  6. "Although I do wonder, as you watch TV and Youtube travel shows/videos, are you never tempted to check out one of these places in the sim?" Interesting question - thanks. Since all of these type genre are pretty much 'ground level' experiences, they don't really influence the choice to make a 'from the air' visit. But at the same time any information source could be the inspiration to see some place from the air on some subconscious level? For example I have flown over the Giza pyramid complex because I have enjoyed an interest in Egyptology most of my life and know they are right outside Cairo. So which came first - the chicken, the egg or the rooster?
  7. I am also a member of the 'seasoned' citizens at 72, some might say well past my 'use by' date - LOL - at least my knees sure are, which dramatically limits my mobility and desire to have to walk distances, which is almost the definition of European travel..... walking. I fly sims because it's too expensive to be a Private Pilot for real and I enjoy a life-long passion for aviation. That is the sole real life experience for which they substitute. For ME, it has zero correlation to actual travel. All my vicarious travel needs are well filled by Public Television and YouTube travel shows and videos. I agree that for many varied reasons vacation travel outside this Country or Canada has lost a lot of its 'charm', and Australia and New Zealand are simply too far and pricey (for ME) to visit.
  8. I don't have ANY accurate statistics ( and Yes- I agree with Mark Twain that "There are three types of lies - lies, damned lies and statistics.”) to prove or disprove what percentage of the well over 2,000,000 MSFS 2020 owners are experiencing serious issues running the sim on their hardware setups. I do not think it unreasonable to suggest that owners of anything seek out internet forums on which they can complain or vent their frustrations with whatever product it is, rather than seek out forums on which they can praise an item. This usually leads to the wrong perception that "Everyone is having major problems" rather than the reality that most owners of that thing are not. I happen to be in the group that has NOT experienced any negative issues with MSFS that were not of my own making due to unfamiliarity with how things work or my low grade PC components which I have since upgraded.
  9. Same update success story for me. 100% uneventful and as always I'm happy to see Asobo continuing to refine and improve the sim. I too kinda wonder why 'some' folks are having such issues with the thing. Seems like there must be some common denominator in their situations? I dunno, I ain't no PC expert ner nuthin' - lol
  10. While sitting on the runway, I go up to the top menu bar and select Camera - Pilot close is one of the options. I too use an IR head tracker but this particular airplane for ME does not start with the pilot sitting in the seat. Don't know why, and switching the camera takes just a few seconds so it's no big issue.
  11. Other than I needed to change the cockpit camera to 'Pilot-Close' to get myself in the seat rather than hanging off the left wing, the plane IMHO is a gem.
  12. I 'normally' get around 30fps =/- 5? I suppose? In truth I rarely check other than when fiddling with game/control settings. IMHO anything over 24fps is more than the standard for the movies I watch and surely acceptable for this particular sim?
  13. I'm enjoying this one the Aerolite 103 https://secure.simmarket.com/nemeth-designs-aerolite-103-msfs.phtml
  14. In this the 'Age of Internet Malware' I try to never click a link from an unknown source. NOT meant as an offense to the OP, simply stating MY bias. If others have clicked it and had no issues, please let us know.
  15. On MY PC yesterday, when I first fired up the sim I got the "X" software wants to make a change to your system" box on the screen, I clicked yes and within a minute or two the game began to load as normal. I checked and the version had been updated to 1.13.17.0 with no further action on my part.
  16. Thanks, I try to keep things "light". This IS only a game after all, nobody here is curing world hunger or any major diseases. As a lifelong EAA member and decades long tram volunteer at AirVenture Oshkosh, I can attest that female attendance at this real-life aviation convention is indeed 'less' than male, but still there remain a whole lot of couples and females in general on the grounds. Women in aviation are thankfully abundant.
  17. Just MY geezer opinion, and worth every penny it just cost you, I would think it preferable for Asobo to concentrate the bulk of their resources to correcting functional bugs/issues, scenery glitches and the like, adding a few more GA aircraft and even those airliner things, than purely cosmetic novelties like being able to enter the crapper of a jumbo jet - lol But that's just me, one of the very few people on this planet who truly matters...... to me. lol
  18. First time since the World Update, took a jim-dandy flight in my little Aerolite 103 along the river Thames. Took off from a small aerodrome south of the city, as I slowly neared the river, the POI markers began sprouting up like pine tees in a forest - lol I will doubtless be making some serious sight-seeing flight in the future. Very impressive IMHO.
  19. "The same pop up as in Xplane worked in FSX, why not keep it?" Because Asobo neither developed nor owned the rights to either sim? It is a new, unique approach to the genre, not an upgrade or rehash of any other flight sim. I could be mistaken.
  20. Hi - my name is Randy - I'm 72, heterosexual, retired, overweight and under-loved. Looking for a good woman who owns an GA airplane to share my life and my life-long passion for aviation..... please send picture of airplane.
  21. I've found the Aerolite 103 to be a real fun flyer. Low and slow to be sure and the flight dynamics do seem to mimic the real thing quite well from all the Ultralights I've watched at EAA AirVenture every year. The sole 'issue' I have is before takeoff I need to change the cockpit camera to 'Pilot-Close' or the view has me hanging from the left wing - lol IMHO it is good value for the $$.
