  1. Try setting your rolling cache to 8gb (default), then set your Terrain Level Of Detail slider (Terrain LOD) to 100 and your Off Screen Terrain Pre-Caching to High.
  2. Do you have the Heavy Division B78XH mod installed? It's not supported any more and is known to cause all kinds of issues like this so please uninstall it.
  3. If you're using a 3rd party livery your friend may also need to have that livery installed.
  4. Thanks Bill, I'll stay tuned! I was waiting for the BBS Short 330/360 when the Dash 7 appeared - I'm into regional/exec turboprops and jets so the Dash 7 is a must-have really - the problem being that it's my wife's birthday and our wedding anniversary this month so what's a poor simmer to do?
  5. Great pics Bill, and not just because that TransWorld Express livery has my initials on the tail! I'm sorely tempted to buy this one but it's getting mixed reviews to say the least - I suspect that's mainly due to the lack of a manual. May I ask how YOU find the Dash 7 so far?
  6. Sounds like the Steam version is your best bet: https://store.steampowered.com/app/314160/Microsoft_Flight_Simulator_X_Steam_Edition/
  7. The steering settings are in the [Contact_Points] section, not the [Aerodynamics] section, so yes they apply to the Modern flight model.
  8. For any MSFS2020 question, YouTube has the answer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y--qSXEkr0E
  9. Hi @Ishrak98, yes those flight_model.cfg changes still apply, and I've also added these changes to the [FLIGHT_TUNING] section in the flight_model.cfg: ground_crosswind_effect_zero_speed = 25.2 ; crosswind has no effect below 25.2 feet per second ground speed ground_crosswind_effect_max_speed = 100.8 ; crosswind only reaches maximum effect above 100.8 feet per second ground speed ground_high_speed_steeringwheel_static_friction_scalar = 0.5 ; nosewheel or tailwheel steering effectiveness ground_high_speed_otherwheel_static_friction_scalar = 1.0 ; main gear friction
  10. The AI Aardvaark (AIA) Boeing 757-330 is an AI aircraft only; it shouldn't be flyable. Whoever has converted it did so for use in FS2004 because the Boeing 737_400.dll is a default FS9 gauge. You need to search for and install an FSX-native 757 model and panel instead.
  11. It sounds like your backup files are corrupted/incomplete or both. I would start with a fresh install of FSX, run it to check that all is well, and then re-download and install your add-ons from their original sources (freeware and payware) rather than trust your backup files.
  12. They've compressed the logbook because many simmers have hit the logbook storage size limit and can't record any more flights: From the release notes (link below): "Added logbook compression to fix an issue where the logbook stopped recording flights after reaching 16MB limit size." https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/release-notes-sim-update-13-1-34-16-0-available-now/610338
  13. As part of SU13, the logbook data has been compressed and it now takes 2-3 minutes to decompress. There's no progress bar on screen so it looks and behaves like the sim is frozen.
  14. If the sim still CTD's with no addon's whatsoever (aircraft or scenery), in totally default state, then this is a memory access fault as Jorgen said a few posts up. You could have a hardware fault such as a failing memory module, PSU or hard drive - but this shouldn't be the case on a new PC. I would definitely go with a corrupted add-on of some kind - aircraft/livery/scenery/landclass/mesh.
  15. This is a terrain LOD issue caused by moving the drone far enough away from the aircraft to make the terrain re-load and crash the aircraft. The only workaround for this is to turn off crash detection before using the drone.
  16. An incorrect ATC designator cannot possibly cause a CTD - what this indicates is a corrupted livery or a corrupted livery and model. I would recommend removing all your AI ERJ aircraft and re-downloading them from scratch. If it's not the ERJ's, it's another AI aircraft's livery/model issue - step and repeat as above.
  17. Have you verified and repaired your FSX Steam installation using the Steam app? To verify your game files please do the following: 1. Load the Steam platform and log into your account 2. Click the Library tab in the menu at the top of the screen 3. Click the List View from the view options on the top right of the screen 4. Right click on Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Steam Edition to bring up a popup menu 5. Click on Properties from the popup menu to bring up another popup box 6. Click on Local files from the popup box menu 7. Click on Verify integrity of game cache from the Local file options 8. Wait for the progress bar to finish verifying your files. Additional files may download 9. Restart Steam 10. Restart Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Steam Edition
  18. There's an MSFS mission tutorial in 7 installments here: https://flightsim.to/file/9805/mission-tutorial and quite a few FSX missions converted for MSFS here: https://flightsim.to/discover/missions?s=mission&category=0&sorting=0&page=1&filter=
  19. How can ISP speed be Microsoft's problem? I can't get an internet connection through Microsoft here in the UK because they're not internet service providers here, or anywhere else that I'm aware of. If you want faster internet, you pay your money and take your choice of what's available in your area - Microsoft have no control over that.
  20. MSFS2020 is an Xbox Studios game title, so it's funded by Microsoft and it's produced by Asobo Studios in partnership with Xbox Studios. The Windows version is a Windows 10/11 Application (App) and is emphatically NOT a Windows Program in ANY shape or form. Like it or not, it's the future.
  21. Since MSFS2020 is an Xbox title, you can set it to run offline from the Xbox App on your PC:
  22. Mine kept looping on the DC3 files - I quit the sim, deleted my Temp files, rebooted the sim and they finally downloaded. Now downloading the World Updates in Content Manager and Oh Boy! This must be the most thorough update yet - a very, VERY impressive Release Notes list this time!
  23. The Working Title CJ4 User Guide (available here) gives this information: DISCONTINUITY ▯▯▯▯▯ = Discontinuity. A discontinuity is a break in the flight plan causing separation such as from an approach or arrival. Normally, a discontinuity can be replaced or deleted however, a discontinuity cannot be deleted or replaced: After a vector (VECT) - you must drop the waypoint on the (VECT) or delete it. At the end of an airway when the next waypoint is not on that airway. Before a leg that does not have a defined starting point such as a DME-arc.
