  1. And the HondaJet comes complete with Me Ling as a 2nd pilot. Sadly, her mom sits all frumped up in the cabin in back so you need to sneak to get any loving, but she's worth it!

  3. WWV! I still have a small hand-held radio that isn't tune-able. It was designed to pick up WWV time broadcasts out of Colorado.. Long after I had to quit flying, because I couldn't pass the physical, I was pretty active in the Sports Car Club of America. (SCCA) Time Speed & Distance (TSD) Rally Series. Everyone used WWV as the time standard for scoring purposes.

  5. OK, I just found the CAG VOR. P3D shows it pretty well and there's a group of buildings nearby which look to be hangers, So I'm assuming that's YCAG. I took a couple of screenies but now seem unable to insert them. I'll try again later. Having said that, I still didn't find the frequency of CAG VOR. If anyone knows it. I'd appreciate hearing from them.
  6. What a lot of work to not just lead this event but also to post a Spotters Guide! Thanks so much!! However, after studying the route and especially not finding YCAG in my world as simmed in P3D, I'd like my entry to be Free Fly. I'll try to make all the route and throw in comments etc., but trying to do timed with different software seems unlikely to have success. BTW: I already asked Phrog, but does anyone know the frequency and call id or Lat-Long of the CAG VOR? That way I can at least view the area near where CAG is in your software. Michael (Rupert)

  10. Rockie & Bullwinkle were IMO a lot more up to date with RW happenings than most of the news at that time. They certainly made it more sensible to those who don't spend all their time fretting over it!!
  11. As I mentioned, my Baron is a Baron 58 with 550C engines. According to Wikipedia that configuration is rated for a service ceiling of 20,668' on a "Standard Day". Since it's summer in Oz and at least 30f hotter than a Standard Day, I'd say the almost 18,000' I achieved in my Baron 58 is probably very accurate.

  13. And possibly the difference in Barons as well. Wikipedia showed several different model years, engine manufacturers, and horsepower ratings for Barons. It's all what you happen to have.

  15. Okay, Since I entered my Beech Baron in the rally you made me wonder how it performs at altitude. It's rated at 300 hp per Continental 10-550-C. So outside Perth with 50% fuel, OAT 80F, 29.51 inches, and a 175lb. pilot, no luggage, we climbed out. Our maximum altitude was 17,200' doing 75kts with cylinder temps of 220C. This is using the P3Dv.4 stock Baron with the ORBX Australia scenery. And seems to be really close to RW numbers. Michael

  18. I was in the first H-46 squadron deployed to Vietnam, Hmm-164. (YT) "Watson's Warriors" at Marble Mountain. I don't remember hearing the term "Phrog" at that time. But then again there's a lot I don't remember about that first go round, Too many night med-evacs! The 2nd trip over, I flew H-34's as a "Purple Fox" in HMM-364 (PF) for a few months. We spent our free time trying to sneak around and paint, using a stencil of a fox on every vehicle any other outfit owned with purple paint of course. As I recall, we stenciled about a dozen Jeeps from various other outfits during one big meeting held by Lt. General Walt. Soon after that episode, mid deployment and maybe having to do with the spray paint job, I was transferred back to 46's in HMM-165. (YW) I remember that positing really well. It's when I broke my neck in a very hard landing caused by almost no hydraulic pressure, which sent me home and out of the Corps for good. I'm guessing the term "Phrog" came along after I was out.   20. There's a little more detail of YKNG with P3D and ORBX. The runway is unpaved, but there is a tower, And yes, there was another plane already parked there. Perhaps I'm already late as well. That's me with my Baron getting ready to return to YPUT for the event start.
