  1. Great news! I'm seeing more and more flight schools buying battery powered trainers all the time. In which case people living near or under designated practice areas suffer much less noise and air pollution than with internal combustion aircraft. Plus with the FBO being able to change battery packs between training flights, the need for down time while recharging goes away. So the training aircraft can be quickly readied for the next trainee., Soon I expect we'll see many FBOS switching out battery packs for battery fueled aircraft in transit. Stop for your $150 hamburger and then fly the next leg of your trip with a fresh battery pack. COOL!
  2. WOW! What a great blast from the past! And good to see peer01's face, well not great but interesting, as well. Does anyone have any idea if Peer is still alive and ticking? I "borrowed" several of the aircraft from his "hanger" over a several year period. Once he ghosted for a few months and several of us did sim searches for his "water-landed" (read crashed) aircraft over several waterways around the world. Then he showed back up again after yet another computer crash.
  3. Lady Liberty always looks great! But the star in this series is La Patrona!
  4. Great series Bill! I especially enjoyed seeing Mt. Rainier as well.
  5. Sweet aircraft and nose art as well.
  6. Great shot Bill! It reminds me of a great trip I got to take in the 60's. This old chopper guy did get to watch air to air refuel up close a couple of times while a passenger in a F-4! Amazing!! Michael
  7. SCARY! BUT YET BEAUTIFUL!! And I can only imagine the wonderful engine roar as well!
  8. One of my favorite inland places in California for sure. well shown! However from what I've heard RW, this year things probably look a lot more lush than what we see here or I ever remembered. Which after many years of drought or near drought is almost certainly a good thing!! Michael
  9. Have you overflown Loch Ness? Beautiful scenery, an ancient and long deserted but still accessible castle which the RAF still use for practice sorties from time to time on the bank, and lots of salmon farms floating in the Loch. And that's just as portrayed in P3D with ORBX. Three's probably a lot more detail in the new sim. Also don't miss the Isle of Skye which IMO RW was really much nicer before they built the bridge a few years back.
  10. I agree about takng down a Mig.. However I was referring to the swing wing Gruman F-4F Wildcats like the ones Joe Foss flew during WWII against Japanese Zeros off of Guadacanal etc.
  11. I agree with your thoughts on the sounds and sights of freedom. I also loved having F-4s, A-4s, or F-8s flying aerial support when making combat assault or resupply landings or drops. However I don't miss either F-4s or F-8s flying through the old blimp hangers at MCAF Santa Ana in the '60s even a little bit!!! That's why we had to start keeping a set of the doors closed!
  12. Hey JK! I was just reading a very interesting article on the Gruman F4Fs and the Marine Aces that flew them during WWII in Smithsonian Magazine Online. I wonder if you might post some Marine painted Gruman F4Fs someday? If you've already done that I apologize, I guess I missed that one. Michael
  13. Yet another great series of shots and responses! I love (sim) flying into, new to me, airstrips which is one reason I still subscribe to FLYING magazine.. I'll be looking at several of these as well. Michael
  14. Great Job Phlyer!! I enjoyed all of it! And it was a kick to see the Phrogs near a crater as well. Michael
  15. Both series are very well done and a positive addition to this site! I haven't been to Rome since the '80s but it seems to be holding up pretty well. (At least in the sim.) One advantage to going to Rome in the sim is you don't hear the 24 hour a day din of traffic horns. I think many/most? drivers there drive with one hand on the wheel, the other hand constantly on the horn!!
  16. Yes, One of my goals was to make a transatlantic trip on the Queen Mary II and return on the Concorde. Or make the trips in the opposite order. The Concorde was shut down before I had the chance to make either cycle.
  17. Gotta love formation flying! Especially with great paint! Well Posted!
  18. "White Shirt!!" Great shots!
  19. Great paints and formations as well!!
  20. Great flight! Whenever I think of BA I'm reminded of my first flight on a 747 from Boston to London on the "City of Westminster."
  21. Great shots ED-4! As to invisible structures, it'd be great if the people of the Ukraine had a few of those right about now! Michael
