That shot certainly looks close to what I remember flying over RW! And I consider it a depressing sight.
  3. It certainly looks the part! How's it fly?? I might be interested as well,.
  4. +1! Spin the gauges so If the gauge needles line up, then you're normal. If not verify why the outlier doesn't! So you don't need to read all the gauges, just scan.
  5. Nice shot. Does the rear stairway open?
  6. I agree. I'm also taking screenies, especially like at KCAG station. Sadly, I can't find them yet. Once I do I'll post a bunch.
  7. The temp part is story line. I'm still in Ky. But the time line is correct in Australia.
  8. I'm now (1/16) at YNSM. Since the time here is about 12 hours off of what I'm used to, and KY is about 10*F, I'm still having problems with the sleep and heat issues during Australian Summer. Yesterday I ended up napping for a few hours at YKNJ. Then onward to YNSM. I'll make a flight to the YCAG marker today, since I find no airstrip in P3D it'll be a flyover only. Then probably head on to YFRT. I'm taking screenies but they're hiding someplace on the hard drive & I can't find so I haven't posted any yet,
  9. Nope, I didn't make it that far. I made a loop to check out Perth then headed for YKNG. Got tired and landed on that little dirt strip and I'm ready to bunk out, Besides it's pretty stormy out, don't want to catch a lightning bolt. I've taken several screen shots but can't find them, ??? I've found shots that are years old but can't find any from today. If I figure out where they went I'll include them.
  10. Man my body has not adapted well to this time change. The watch on my arm says it's about 11:40 on the 15th in Kentucky. But the clocks here at YPJT say it's about 00:40 on the 16th. But the 70F here beats the heck out of the 07F back home! Lots of rallye folks still around though some of them left yesterday (local time of the 15th). Since I can't sleep I guess I'll head out and get some night flying hours. I'll probably make it to YNSM before I'm ready for a nap.
  11. I hope the "Club structure" is not too big. I hadn't planned on bringing a bicycle.
  12. Funnily enough that reminds me of several real world coast to coast trips in H-46s. We were ferrying H-46s from where they were built in Baltimore to Santa Ana California. Leaving Baltimore you could fly almost anywhere you chose in the east of the US, including Louisville Ky, out of Baltimore. But you had to eventually fly to the west coast. Midland Texas was the only place to fly out of to get to within our 250-300 mile range of another Air Force Base in the west of the state. So "Follow Me Trucks" were often loaded with Babes in Bikinis, plus chests full of beer, etc. to entice us to stay over night and buy their jet fuel there.
  13. Yeah, I raced a '71 240Z for a while, and played with Bob Sharp Racing. Then I decided to slow down a bit so I ran a 56 TR-3, not a 3A, a ":small mouth" TR-3 for a few years. Now the only fun ride I have is a supercharged 200+ rear wheel horse-powered NB Miata. And it's street legal. I love to surprise some of the locals. But it stays garaged in the winter.
  14. And the HondaJet comes complete with Me Ling as a 2nd pilot. Sadly, her mom sits all frumped up in the cabin in back so you need to sneak to get any loving, but she's worth it!
  15. Hey, You never know if you don't try things! People laughed at the Spruce Goose as well.
  16. WWV! I still have a small hand-held radio that isn't tune-able. It was designed to pick up WWV time broadcasts out of Colorado.. Long after I had to quit flying, because I couldn't pass the physical, I was pretty active in the Sports Car Club of America. (SCCA) Time Speed & Distance (TSD) Rally Series. Everyone used WWV as the time standard for scoring purposes.
  17. Yes, been there and done that,
  18. OK, I just found the CAG VOR. P3D shows it pretty well and there's a group of buildings nearby which look to be hangers, So I'm assuming that's YCAG. I took a couple of screenies but now seem unable to insert them. I'll try again later. Having said that, I still didn't find the frequency of CAG VOR. If anyone knows it. I'd appreciate hearing from them.
  19. What a lot of work to not just lead this event but also to post a Spotters Guide! Thanks so much!! However, after studying the route and especially not finding YCAG in my world as simmed in P3D, I'd like my entry to be Free Fly. I'll try to make all the route and throw in comments etc., but trying to do timed with different software seems unlikely to have success. BTW: I already asked Phrog, but does anyone know the frequency and call id or Lat-Long of the CAG VOR? That way I can at least view the area near where CAG is in your software. Michael (Rupert)
  20. Well done and well thought out! I think we'll all enjoy this event!! Michael
  21. Always helps to have friends in (Pardon the Pun) high places!!
  22. Nope Not I!!! That looks a whole lot like the vent for a Pilot Relief Tube!!
