As expressed by the OP, I am now closing this thread.

I'm not saying that Mark, but it's a real shame people just can't enjoy what they have without the need to put others down. For one, it makes for a toxic atmosphere and secondly, puts a lot of people off contributing to the forums (read the comments on the community article I published). You enjoy FS2004, that's great, I use it too (Glacier Bay and VOZ being my all time favourites), but I also dabble in FS2020 and my main sim, X-Plane. I enjoy them all, but that's not to say that one is better than the other, they just excel in different areas. Also, it's not about banishing people...it's about having an understanding of what the hobby is about - it's about simulated flight and the enjoyment we all get from it. Since becoming the editor of FlightSim.com seven years ago, I have interviewed a great many developers (mostly freeware), and the one thing which many of them mentioned, was the hope/desire that the community could be more supportive of each other. Many of those interviewed are no longer developing for the hobby, and for a few, I can tell you first hand, that it's down to the reasons above. At the end of the day, the hobby is what we all make it - it can either be a place where people go on and on about which sim is better, with threads being removed because of rudeness etc, or it can be one where we enjoy what we have, with the understanding that there are different sims for different people, and support each other in our wonderful and shared hobby. Is FS2020 a work in progress? Like X-Plane, Microsoft Flight Simulator is (at present) being updated and improved upon. This is something X-Plane users have enjoyed for over 20 years. 6 months or 1 year away? It's available to purchase now. Too early for computer build? Not at all. The basic requirements are not going to change. In fact if anything, performance will only improve. X plane 11 better? They both excel in different areas. From my own experience, they compliment each other nicely.

Hi Michael, There's quite a lot of negatively being put around by people who don't actually own it. In my opinion, the water in Flight Simulator 2020 is better than that seen in the Silent Hunter submarine sims :-) Cheers Dom

Oh...I lost many an evening after school playing this! Geoff Crammond went on to create one of the best F1 driving simulators of all time a few years later. Being a major fan of Formula One (and going to school with one of the drivers)...I lapped it up (pun intended) :-) Cheers Dom
