  1. One thing which would be nice (and it's something Nels and I have discussed), is for all members to have an avatar. Whilst it won't provide you with any additional kudos (sorry about that)...it does create a more cohesive community...which in turn benefits everyone. The same goes for filling in your profile (as much as you are comfortable with). Cheers Dominic
  2. They do indeed address the hardware directly...and it's one of the reasons why Boot Camp offers performance similar to a PC of the same hardware. This is quite different to say a VM (virtual machine), such as Parallels or VMware Fusion. https://www.dummies.com/computers/macs/mac-operating-systems/boot-camp-versus-windows-emulators/ Cheers Dominic
  3. Hi Bus Driver, Apple Boot Camp is a viable option...but the only problem you will run into, is purchasing a copy of Windows 10, which can often be quite expensive. For the same amount of money, you could probably purchase a refurbished PC with Windows 10 already installed. Of course...this would be quite a slow machine, but with the right graphics card (again a cheap one from ebay etc), you could easily get FS2004 going. To give you an example...when my nephew came to visit, I purchased a refurbished PC from Amazon so that he could have his own machine (this cost £69 with Windows 10 already installed). I then added a cheap AMD card from ebay...installed it, and hey ho...he was all set. I already had a spare monitor, keyboard and mouse, so if you don't have these...then yes, the cost can mount up. Basically though, you have a couple of routes you can go down. Yes, they both require a bit of time and effort to initially sort out...but once done, you'll have a great deal of fun. Hope this helps Regards Dominic
  4. Going by the specifications mentioned by the development team...you look like you're good to go :-) Your setup is a higher spec than Michael's, and he manages to run it just fine: https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/content.php?21037-Flight-Simulator-2020-First-Impressions Intel i7 6700 Nvidia GTX1660 16GB RAM Dominic
  5. My first serious foray into flight simulation came in 1987/88 when my parents bought me Flight Simulator II by Sublogic. I'm 45 now...and yes, it does seem like a long time :-) Cheers Dom
  6. Hi Chris and welcome! Flight simulation is all about having fun....so don't worry about what simulator you use :-) The majority of the people you will meet here are both friendly and helpful, so when you get stuck, just give us a shout. Happy flying! Dominic
  7. My wife actively participates in my flight simming... When there are any jobs to be done, she comes up behind me, shakes my chair and shouts... "TURBULENCE TURBULENCE" :D Sometimes in the evenings she'll sit next to me (always with a cup of tea and a few biscuits), and take in the scenery. She's a great girl...and to be honest...without her, my simming wouldn't be nearly as special.
  8. Lovely work as usual Roger...thanks for sharing! Dom
  9. I would absolutely go for the Boot Camp option (I successfully ran FSX and P3D for years as an Apple user). Even if the new simulator does happen to run in the VM, you are going to be severely hampered due to the fact that you are sharing resources. Dominic
  10. Excellent work Michael...well done and thank you for sharing!! Regards Dom
  11. Use the tablet in the cockpit...weights and balance :-)
  12. Nice one Mark, certainly impressive; thanks for sharing:D Dom

  14. Brilliant work Erwin...thank you!!! I actually had the opportunity to sit in this car when I was a kid, way back in 1985. It was on display in Milton Keynes, along with the General Lee from the Dukes of Hazzard. For two minutes...I was Michael Knight :-) Many thanks!! Dom
  15. After 127 downloads, let me be the first to say thank you for a truly fantastic model!! She is an absolute joy to fly...and perfect for my VFR flights across Scotland. Thank you for sharing with the community! Dominic
  16. Lovely work Neil...it was just like being back home :-) Thanks for sharing!! Dom
  17. Hi Richard, You can't go wrong with either as both have wonderful payware sceneries of Southern England. However...if you wish to try your hand at making own photographic scenery, then I would say to give X-Plane 11 a whirl. The reason I say this is because there is a wonderful tool you can use called Ortho4XP which enables you to create your photographic sceneries. On first glance it looks terribly daunting, but it doesn't take long at all to work how to use it, and there are plenty of tutorials on YouTube to help you on your way: Once you have the photographic element in place, all you need to do then is add your autogen: https://simheaven.com/ Once downloaded, it takes about two minutes to set everything up (really easy). Being from Scotland, I used Ortho4XP to create my own Scottish scenery in the article linked below. https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/content.php?20402-The-Need-to-Fly Have fun! Dominic

Roger I find these work well with FS2004: hde.zip Do a search in the file library for the above zip file and I think you'll be pleased with the result :-) Cheers Dom
  21. Why can't we simply celebrate the fact that a new simulator is being created?? If it helps to attract new people to the hobby, then that is both fantastic and exciting news! The new Microsoft Flight Simulator doesn't have to fail for you to enjoy FS2004...if anything, its popularity will only help to increase its longevity. Let's please cut down on the trolling...both Nels and I are finding it rather tiring...
