FS2004/FSX/P3D Fred Olsen Curtiss C-46 1970
FS2004/FSX/P3D Fred Olsen Curtiss C-46 1970. This is a repaint of the C46 in Fred Olsen Lines 1970 colors. The freeware C-46 by Libardo Guzman and Tom Gibson is needed for this repaint. The famous Norwegian shipping magnate; Fred Olsen, formed his new airline "Fred Olsen’s Flyselskap" in June 1946. It was a nonscheduled carrier, which offered aircraft leasing, passenger and cargo charters, calibration flights, and contract service flights. They started with DC-3s and in 1958 five C-46s joined the fleet. Also, many of the company’s services were undertaken under contract to SAS, the national carrier of the Scandinavian countries. Fred Olsen Lines was focused mainly on cargo flights, and in 1965 their fleet had three C-46s and one DC-6A/B. Two more DC-6s were added to the fleet during 1966-67, followed by a Convair CV-340 in 1968. In 1969 Fred Olsen Lines' emphasis was to offer executive passenger charter services with their new Falcon executive jets. However, this special service did not work for the company, and in 1972 Olsen sold the two Falcons to the Royal Norwegian Air Force. So, the focus was back to Cargo, and in 1974 The first of many L-188Cs joined the fleet. The 1970s and 1980s were quite good for the airline and by 1986 the emphasis was shifted entirely to cargo charters. In 1997 Fred Olsen's airline ceased operations. The reasons offered were the loss of maintenance contracts, and difficulties in making a profit in the Central European freight market. This repaint is of C-46 LN-FOR, one of three C-46s operated by Fred Olsen. This repaint was tested on FSX-SE. Textures are 32bit bmp. It should work on FSX, P3D v1-3, and FS2004. FS2004/FSX/P3D Saturn Airways Douglas DC-6B 1963
FS2004/FSX/P3D Saturn Airways Douglas DC-6B 1963. This is a repaint of a DC6B in Saturn Airways 1963 colors. The freeware CalClassic DC-6B by Greg Pepper and Tom Gibson is needed for this repaint. Saturn was founded in 1948 as "All-American Airways" and, as a supplemental carrier, it flew cargo and tour flights. It's main business was with the U.S. military. In 1964 it got the authority by the CAB to operate transatlantic flights. Then, in 1965 AAXICO, a major military contract supplemental, submerged itself into Saturn. Tragically, two DC-6s were lost in accidents in January 1967, of which one was fatal. Later that year, Saturn became a public corporation. The fleet by 1968 comprised of DC-8-61s, DC-8-55Fs, DC-7CFs and DC-6As. In its first year of Jet operations they got a 49% increase in revenue. By 1971 Saturn was the 5th largest U.S. supplemental, and in 1972 they received their first of 12 Lockheed L100-30 Hercules. In 1974 Saturn got into merger talks with Trans International, and posted its largest net profit ever with gains of $4.9 million. The two airlines' application for the merger was approved by the CAB in 1976. Thus, on November 30 1976, the company merged into Trans-International Airlines (TIA). This repaint is of DC-6B N90770, which flew for them from 1961 to 1964. Textures are 32bit bmp. This repaint was tested on FSX-SE and should work on FSX & P3D v1-3. It should also work on FS2004. FS2004/FSX/P3D Overseas National - ONA DC-6A 1959
FS2004/FSX/P3D Overseas National - ONA DC-6A 1959. This is a repaint of the Douglas DC-6A (CB17 model) in Overseas National Airways - ONA 1959 colors. The freeware CalClassic DC-6A CB-17 model by Greg Pepper and Tom Gibson is needed for this repaint. ONA was originally formed in 1950 by George Tompkins to undertake overseas contracts on behalf of the USAF. Douglas DC-4s were initially used, with DC-6s joining them later. However, due to underbidding on contracts, ONA declared itself bankrupt on October 29 1963. After this, the airline was extensively re-organized and began operations once again in October 1965, with a fleet of 7 DC-7s. Soon after, in June and July 1966 the airline's first jetliners joined the fleet in the form of DC-8-50Fs. After a 1966 ruling by the CAB, ONA was granted permission to undertake inclusive tour charters, affinity group charters, and single entity charters to transatlantic and Caribbean markets. This was a godsend to the airline and it started to become quite profitable. Over the next decade, the fleet expanded to include: L-188s, DC-8-61/63CFs, DC-8-20/30s, DC-9-30s, and the granddaddy of them all; the DC-10-30CF. During the winter of 1975/76 tragedy struck. Two ONA DC-10s were lost in accidents in the space of two months (November 1975 & January 1976). This was a major blow to the airline and its image. This, coupled with financial difficulties, led the the filing of its second bankruptcy on September 7, 1978. That was the final nail in the coffin. This repaint is on DC-6A N660NA, which joined the airline in 1958, ans was sold to AAXICO in 1961. Textures are 32bit bmp. This repaint was tested on FSX-SE and should work on FSX, P3D v1-3, & FS2004. By Ted Giana.127 downloads

DC-7-CF N293 was purchased from Northwest Airlines in 1962 and was with ONA till 1964 when it was bought by Sudflug. FS2004/FSX/P3D Overseas National - ONA DC-7 1960
FS2004/FSX/P3D Overseas National - ONA DC-7 1960. This is a repaint of the Douglas DC-7 in Overseas National Airways - ONA 1960 colors. The freeware CalClassic DC-7 model by Greg Pepper and Tom Gibson is needed for this repaint. This repaint depicts ONA DC-7 N321A, in 1960 colors. It was purchased in 1958 from American Airlines, which probably influenced this choice in livery for this aircraft. It eventually left the fleet in 1963. Textures are 32bit bmp. This repaint was tested on FSX-SE and should work on FSX, P3D v1-3, & FS2004. By Ted Giana.116 downloads
