FS2004 1953 United Air Lines B377 Stratocruiser. Part of the CalClassic Archive Project. The UAL B377-034s delivered in 1950 had less efficient Curtiss props and were never allowed to depart heavier than an early model C-97A. While in UAL service they normally used only airline grade fuel. They briefly flew California - Hawaii and some west coast internals, but never made a profit. They were sold to BOAC in 1954, soon taking over the London to Accra and Lagos services via Tripoli. After decolonization they wore the livery of Ghana Airways and Nigeria Airways serving London via Frankfurt, Madrid, Paris, or Rome. Some Lagos flights stopped at Kano. They were replaced by Britannias during 1959. A complete aircraft, includes model, panel, and sounds. This is the FS2004 B377 Base Pack, use this for panel and sounds for all liveries. For liveries other than UAL use the FS2004 B377 Update Pack for models and flight dynamics. By Greg Pepper, Tom Gibson, and FSAviator

FS2004 1958 United Air Lines Douglas DC-6B CB-16. Part of the CalClassic Archive Project. The Douglas DC-6B in United Air Lines 1958 jet delivery colors. The DC-6B was generally considered to possess the best operating economics of any piston airliner built. Passengers also appreciated their smooth, quiet ride. United had 43 DC-6B's, and used them throughout their US system. Flight dynamics for Pratt & Whitney R2800 CB-16 engines used on domestic aircraft. This is the FS2004 DC-6B CB-16 Base Pack, add other US domestic DC-6B liveries to this package. A complete aircraft, includes model, panel, and sounds. If your engines stop running after engine start, be sure to advance the throttles to about 1000 RPM. By Greg Pepper, Tom Gibson, Jens Kristensen, and FSAviator

FSX/P3D 1958 United Air Lines Douglas DC-6 CB-16. Part of the CalClassic Archive Project. FSX/P3D United Air Lines Convair CV-340. Part of the CalClassic Archive Project. The CV-340 made its debut with United Air Lines in November 1952. It had little in common with the CV-240, having a much larger wing and a longer fuselage to lift more weight. Improved transonic characteristics allowed it to cruise higher despite its greater useful load, surface area and drag. The larger CV-340 was more profitable then the CV-240, but when also powered by R-2800-CB16 engines it needed longer runways due to its greater weight. Of the 311 built, 102 were military transports for the USAF and USN under the designations C-131B/D and R4Y-1. Includes model, panel, and sounds. This is the FSX/P3D CV-340 Base Pack, add other liveries to this package. By Greg Pepper, Tom Gibson, and FSAviator

FS2004 Douglas DC-4 Operations Procedures Update. This package installs more realistic handling notes specific to military versus airline use of different variants in different decades. Multiple CalClassic Notepads become available for the first time. New VC and 2D panel content better reflects changes over time. The flight dynamics have improvements and add an extra engine variant. However, this increased accuracy requires higher levels of comprehension, judgement, and knowledge - all of which requires careful reading of the original Propliner Tutorial, the included C-54/DC-4 Tutorial, and the more detailed handling notes for each subtype. If you are not willing to make this effort, this update will do little to improve the original JBK C-54/DC4 V3 package, which should be used instead. PLEASE NOTE: This version also assumes that you are a relatively experienced FS user and know how to make file edits, etc. on your computer. This package is not designed for beginners to propliner flying. Again, if you are just starting out we suggest you install the JBK DC-4 V3 package. By Jens Kristensen, FSAviator, and Tom Gibson

FSX/P3D Continental Convair CV-440. Part of the CalClassic Archive Project. Belatedly intended to compete with the Vickers Viscount, the CV-440 Metropolitan made its airline debut with Continental in March 1956. With a significant maximum weight increase this allowed the CV-440 to make full use of 145 Octane AVGAS in R-2800 engines configured as CB-17s. Weather radar in an extended nose became optional. The earlier, less than fully successful and noisy, twin exhaust thrust augmentation system gave way to a much quieter single wide exhaust. Of the 199 built just over 150 went to airlines. Military and naval designations were C-131D/E/F and R4Y-2. One hundred civilian and military CV-340s were then upgraded to a similar standard. This is the FSX/P3D CV-440 Base Pack, add other liveries to this package. Requires the FSX/P3D CV-340 Base Pack for panel and sounds. By Greg Pepper, Tom Gibson, Wayne Tudor, and FSAviator

FS2004/FSX Sierra Pacific Convair CV-580. Part of the CalClassic Archive Project. The CV-580 made its airline debut with Frontier Airlines in July 1964. It was a Pacific Airmotive conversion of the CV340 or CV440 with very powerful Allison 501 turboprop engines as used in the Lockheed L.188 Electra. Maximum weight increased to 54,600lbs and airline conversions typically had high density seating for 58 passengers. Sierra Pacific in this era flew from California cities to Mammoth Mountain and other resorts. A complete aircraft, includes model, panel and sounds. FS2004 American Air Lines Convair CV-240 CA-18. Part of the CalClassic Archive Project. The post war CV-110 unpressurised thirty seat DC-3 'replacement' was poorly timed, but AAL invited Convair to develop it into a pressurized 2 engine 40 seat CV-240 creating the first pressurized twin engined airliner. The CV-240 made its debut with American Air Lines in June 1948, but only 171 of the 556 CV-240s built were for airline use, the remainder were varieties of T-29 flying classroom and 26 x C-131A Samaritan air ambulances for the USAF and USCG. By the end of 1952 the CV-240 was giving way to the much stronger, heavier, and larger winged CV-340. This version has flight dynamics for the Pratt & Whitney R-2800 CA-18 engine. Includes model, panel, and sounds. This is the FS2004 CV-240 CA-18 Base Pack, add other liveries to this package (not VBF liveries). FS2004 1959 & 1962 California Airports Scenery. Part of the CalClassic Archive Project. This file is not to be used for modern FS installations! This scenery provides taxiways, buildings and details as they were around 1959 and 1962 for airports with airline service in California (CA), USA. We've added custom Gmax terminals for 40 airports, usually with many other details included (a total of over 300 new Gmax objects!). We've also replaced the default buildings with library objects and added a few terminal details to virtually every California airport that was served by a major or local airline in the 1950's (for a total of 56 airports). FS2004/FSX AFCAD Files For 1962 AI World. This file is not to be used for modern FS Installations! Part of the CalClassic Archive Project. This file includes modified AFCAD files and exclude files to provide a simple backdate of default FS2004 airports. It includes backdated parking (using the "terminal turn"), aprons, taxiways, and runways. It sometimes includes shortened/removed runways and modified airport aprons. It does NOT include new terminal buildings, airport details, and other changes that would be included in a true scenery package. Some modern airports are removed. Refer to the Airport Changes text file (found in the zip file and in the FS2004/Addon Scenery/Propliner AI Traffic folder) for the older airports used instead of the current major airport in many cities, so you can plan your flights into the correct airports.
