As a real world pilot I feel one should definitely learn on an aircraft with the analog gauges. On the other hand, there are flight schools where only glass panel a/c (Diamond DA40) are used. This is great for those who move on directly to the commercial route and that makes sense. However, for the majority of GA pilots, a good majority will never sit behind a glass panel - and for this reason alone FS2020 should definitely keep a good balance between analog and digital displays. I think with time as the developers feel out FS2020, we will eventually see more of our lovely classic aircraft return to the skies in FS2020.

The quality and tone of the ATC audio is just outstanding! This will be the icing on the cake for 2020!

Yup, that is a huge advertisement for Icon aircraft making the cut. I live near Lake Ontario and there is an A5 that often flies by very low over the water.

I’ve always pondered over the terminology and I really think it needs to be re-ramped in light of exactly what you say. When you search the internet you will find the full range of descriptors. Game, simulator, flight simulator game, flight simulator, simulation video game etc. Clearly, if aviation flight schools use the program as a teaching tool with FAA approval, it is clearly not a game. On the other hand, Microsoft Flight Simulator is being published by Xbox Game Studios for Game Pass subscribers.

So true. Just taking in the new experience, regardless of favourite aircraft, missing that and this etc is not relevant at this point. The extras will come in due time with future releases and 3rd party addons. The leap in technology for weather, special effects, water simulation etc is something everyone should appreciate with this release.

From what I have seen if you do a lot of VFR flying, MSFS 2020 will be the bench mark because of the scenery details and the weather engine. Time will tell if the aircraft flight dynamics of 2020 will be as good as X-Plane.

I think once you have practiced following some instructions with the sim ATC, you should try VATSIM and then Pilotedge for the most accurate experience. If you keep following FS ATC, it is not going to give you a faithful and accurate representation of what true ATC is like and likely to frustrate as you learn the ropes. Some of the repetitive instructions you have been getting does not happen in real life. Flying is about repetition to improve your skills and with ATC it is about listening and multi-tasking with efficiency. We all learn at different paces. Real voices behind the sim ATC will give a world of different experiences and I am confident you will enjoy the ATC as your comfort zone increases with practice. Keep us posted and cheers as you proceed up the learning curve. Remember, a good pilot is always learning.

Remember, you are the PIC! The pilot in command does what is best and safe. Sometimes ignore Go Around! If everything is fine .... land and enjoy! Cheers!
