  1. I recently discovered that on my Aerolite 103 (Nemeth Designs) the throttle slide would not function using either my joystick or my throttle quadrant. The mouse would still operate the throttle manually. This was unique to the Aerolite, all other planes I tried had no throttle issues. Some Google searching yielded the solution to my woes. I had to go into CONTROLS and add the throttle assignment to the Throttle 1 Axis selection for both the joystick and the quadrant. Leaving me with two assignments for the same basic throttle function. I do NOT know why the Nemeth Aerolite is looking for a Throttle 1 control rather than just the basic Throttle used by all the other planes, but it is what it is and making that change lets me fly the plane again, so Yay! lol
  2. Hopped into the small but noble C152 and took a nice jaunt from Orlando straight East to the Canaveral skid strip. Kinda breezy today which added a small fun challenge to the flight.
  3. Saw an ad for this setup recently and thought I'd share the VERY spendy neat gizmo - https://www.gforcefactory.com/?msclkid=f0cd87f2898811544bc5e4ecf3fd8325&utm_campaign=Selected+countries+%5BUSA%5D&utm_content=Ad+Group+%5BUSA%5B&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=bing&utm_term=flight+simulator+machine+for+sale Hey, all it takes is money - lol
  4. FWIW I appreciate that the OP is interested in quality 'low-cost' VR, which might be an oxymoron? I can only say that I am VERY pleased with the performance of my GrassMonkey Odyssey King IR head tracking unit. Great head motion tracking, no worries about eyewear, use your mouse and keyboard with ease and it adds a lot to immersion in the sim. https://grassmonkeysimulations.com/product/monkey-king-odyssey-ir-bundle/ NO it ISN'T a true Virtual Reality experience by any means, true VR is fantastic I am lead to believe, but the Odyssey also 'only' costs $120. Great customer service and assistance too.
  5. Thanks for the heads-up. I guess I'll have to watch the flight log much closer than I have been.... which is pretty much not at all - lol My piston GA flying is never more than 45 minutes to an hour per session, and often even less than that.
  6. Although I've been using and enjoying the sim since near day one, only very recently did I "discover" that unless I completely shut down the aircraft after landing none of my flight time is logged. So........ I've logged 2 years and 48.5 hours - LOL Oh well..... such is life. I now try to remember to shut the GA beasties down after arrival.... but I gotta admit it's not a priority.
  7. Thanks a bunch for sharing your expertise Tim. You are among the group of great folks who make this site the valuable resource it is.
  8. This website says it will test your PC for compatibility - https://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri
  9. I run the sim from my desktop PC. That means every time I want to use all the gear - not just a joystick - the yoke , throttle quadrant and trim wheel each have to be clamped to the desk, the rudder pedals slid over etc. While not back-breaking labor it is a minor nuisance. So off I went to Amazon and picked up this stand for all the gear. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DIQ3168...roduct_details It is an EXTREMELY robust bit of hardware and fit my Logitech gear perfectly. For my rudder pedals I had to use stout zip-ties rather than the supplied metal cross bars, but they are now attached quite firmly. I don't have a panel...yet - lol... but they included a beefy support bar and hardware should I ever get one.
  10. I have one I purchased direct from them around June 1st. I'll have to keep a wary eye on it I reckon. Have you contacted their customer service about the issue? Don't know if there's any relief available, but worth a try? Last resort of course would be to open it up and see if the potentiometer has come loose from the big wheel or can be replaced from an online source.
  11. To clarify, you have set the pitch axis within the Primary Controls function in MSFS2020? I know I had to 'dial down' the rudder response when I setup my pedals. I 'think' MSFS set the default for my Logitech yoke right out of the box.... but I'm not positive. It's been a while.
  12. MSFS 2020 requires that all aircraft be specifically created for it. Planes made for other flight sims, like FSX, will not work. Is your PA-24 an MSFS2020 product?
  13. This forum has helped me immensely since I first joined. I confess the thought of buying a membership to help support the great cause of this sim community didn't dawn on me until just a few minutes ago. MY bad. It's easy to do, it's simple to do, it's VERY affordable to do and I'm kicking myself for not doing it sooner. I encourage everyone to click on the MEMBERSHIP button - right there between STORE and WHAT'S NEW - and see for yourself. IMHO this place IS worth a few bucks each year to keep it running. just sayin'. Thanks for listening to my independent satisfied user's rambling.
  14. Since it is happening with all the aircraft, perhaps check under Basic and other Controls for that joystick to verify the twist grip is calibrated to give full rudder/nosewheel deflection? Remembering to Apply & Save any changes. In the air a rudder has a LOT of authority so not much deflection is needed as opposed to ground handling. Other than that, I got nuthin', sorry.
  15. Just a quick follow-up. I did end up purchasing the $35 product with NO regrets. It is very thorough, works with most all Asobo and other aircraft out of all airports. Pretty neat add-on IMHO. Great flight training tool that doesn't 'break the bank'.
  16. I went 'old school' and fired up the little C152. Departed KOSH, flew around the fine Wisconsin countryside, landed at Appleton and then an uneventful flight into Green Bay, skirting the storm clouds off to the West. The more I fly it the more I really like my FV trim wheel. Makes things so much easier. And my upgraded GrassMonkey IR cam is a treat. Don't have to turn off my dining room's LED hanging fixture anymore.
  17. AFAIK leaving them in place/ignoring them is a valid option and has no adverse effect on the operation of the sim? If you have a favorite airplane/only fly one airplane it will automatically be loaded as 1st in your hangar as the last plane flown.
  18. This year they now have FOUR great definition webcams running 24/7 to help enjoy the AirVenture experience. Give them a look-see. Hope to see you there this year. https://www.eaa.org/airventure/live
  19. I also have experience with RC helicopters, drones and real-world motorcycling. All require some measure of multi-tasking of controls. Helicopters like this one require constant 'flying' at all times which in Easy mode isn't all that difficult IMHO. But it's not as forgiving of inattention as say an ultralight. I still whole-heartedly recommend the aircraft. Recognizing that taking on the rotary wing machines isn't for everyone, and that's fine too.
  20. Yes, it has some less than stellar textures in the airframe structure but even at the 'Easy' setting it is a hoot to fly. I can see the challenge factor will exponentially increase going up the setting scale. Many liveries from civilian to Army to a full-bore M.A.S.H. aircraft included in the $35 price. I'm pleased with this recent purchase and look forward to learning to fly this beastie.
  21. Are you looking to sim fly with other sim pilots? I enjoy the solitude myself and don't view or use MSFS 2020 as a 'group' activity. I 'think' there are some organized gatherings in which you can see other airplanes in the same airspace? I dunno. I practice flying various airplanes out of airports of choice, but don't 'meet up' with anyone. Perhaps some folks who do use this sim for 'gaming' can chime in?
  22. I just wanted to offer a BIG thank you to Tim for the file mods for the Ercoupe. Brilliant work it is. The plane now flies - and lands - as an Ercoupe should. BRSim needs to get him on the payroll as a consultant says I.
  23. While I'm really enjoying flying this plane, I am experiencing some difficulty slowing the beastie down and landing. At dead idle it kinda refuses to lose altitude and then wants to float forever down the runways as if it were a glider, even at 40kts. Anyone else having this issue who can perhaps help me correct whatever I'm doing wrong? I've e-mailed BRsim Design but have not yet received a response. A known other issue concerns the canopy, which has no incremental opening. It's either full open or closed, and opening it in flight or for takeoff produces an airframe over-stress error terminating the flight. thanks in advance for any assistance.
  24. Larry is of course 100% correct. Nothing wrong with starting with an online or other at-home study course. When I was considering going for a Sport Pilot rating I picked up the Gleim offering and found it to be very comprehensive. And it IS a skill- teaching reality that 'unlearning' a bad habit is much harder than learning the right way the first time. For the record, I tallied the costs vs benefit of spending the thousands of $$ from my limited retirement discretionary monies on a Sport Pilot cert here in inner-city Chicago. Real world aviation as a realistic hobby lost out to my financial reality. I opted for the flight simming hardware listed in my signature and use it almost daily. lol
