  1. Sounds very conclusive IMHO - if this is not a proprietary cable but a standard USB 3 do you have any others you can try in its place? For as 'pricey' as that Pimax is, you think they'd use very high quality components. You have every right to be displeased with their less than stellar customer service response so far.
  2. I suspect we are ALL anxiously awaiting some hard info on FS2024. Cost, computer system requirements, features etc.
  3. Welcome - but you have posted this to the wrong forum and have not provided enough info for anyone to answer. What flight sim?...... and post this in THAT forum, and\ what hardware.
  4. I'm not 'techie' enough to repond, but I do wonder if you can see any difference in actual game play at 65fps over 82? I "think" most movies run at about 24fps and am not sure if I would be able to notice a difference if a film went to 50fps? Does the sim 'stutter' or exhibit 'jerky' motions with the slightly reduced frame rate? Or is it just that your rate counter shows the reduction? In truth I've never bothered to check what my current fps rate is flying MSFS2020 so that is my perspective in this situation.
  5. I thought the helicopter opening scene and the series exteriors were filmed in Malibu Creek State Park in California?
  6. ""P" toggle for pause, if possible, should have been carried over into FS2020. Hate to use this time-worn cliche, but don't fix what ain't broke." Had Microsoft developed this new sim that might have been a consideration. As I've come to understand it, the independent software developer Asobo created a whole new flight sim without direct reference to any previous Microsoft flight sim, so nothing was "carried over". I could be mistaken?
  7. Hopefully the bug-fix team will put it into high gear because I'd say the probability of rapid repair of issues is going to decrease exponentially once FS2024 is released to the masses.
  8. As far as I know, no specific hardware requirements have been published for this planned new sim that is to be released for sale in 2024? But yes indeed many of us are waiting for that info.
  9. I got a message when starting the game about needing an up-to-date driver. Also went the GeForce route for my GTX1650 card. I've been running the same 2020 driver since I installed the card, so yes, I was 'due' -lol
  10. For the 1st time THIS upgrade changed many of my game settings for display, degree of difficulty etc. Made my Ercoupe near unflyable. I'm slowly changing parameters to get things back the way I like them. No, of course I never bothered to take screen shots of my settings choices - but I'm thinkin' maybe I should -lol '
  11. I 'think' most any peripherals that have basic USB terminations, and I don't see USB going anywhere for a mighty long time, capable under Windows 7 and up will function as intended. That said, I suspect my Commodore 64 stuff is useless. As Windows versions 'age out' needing a relatively recent OS on my machine would not surprise me. I mean, really, Windows 7 came out in 2009 in an industry where 6 months is an eternity.
  12. To keep this 2024 topic on topic, I have many of the previously mentioned 'enhancement' hardware items, and yes they DO increase the feeling of immersion in the sim flights plus they really are not PC hardware critical components. I have no worries about being able to use them with the 2024 sim, IF 2024 doesn't prove to require me to buy a new PC. That will determine whether or not I stay with 2020 or move on up. But hey - enjoy sim flight at whatever level your desires and budget allow with whatever sim software you like. It's all good and it's great that we have so many solid options to fly the friendly sim skies.
  13. Okey dokes, so it's a complete new version of MS Flight Simulator, in essence replacing MSFS 2020, using improved software engines, that also accepts the current 2020 planes, airports et al. Which leaves me very concerned that my current rig - "Recommended" level hardware - won't be able to run the new sim at an acceptable level. Hopefully Microsoft will post hardware requirements soon to answer that BIG question.
  14. Upon serious reflection and study I am left unsure about whether 2024 is offering all that we have now with 2020 PLUS a whole slew of new challenges, or if it is meant to be a 'flight challenges' game/sim leaving 2020 fliers to continue to roam the world and its airports in many and varied aircraft as we do now. I reckon time.... and Microsoft .... will tell.
  15. I wonder out loud if the XBox gamer community, which IS a HUGE cash cow community, started flying MSFS 2020 on their machines, caught some of the obvious flaws/issues and "complained" in a large enough voice to "motivate" Microsoft/Asobo to create the 'New and Improved', now with more electrolytes (homage to Idiocracy) flight sim version 2024? As they say, money talks and BS walks. I only hope it gets priced at a level my meager pensioner wallet can tolerate and that I don't have to scrap my barely three year old Desktop PC to play it.
  16. I suspect that many folks (like me) expected a longer shelf life/ best buy timeframe from MSFS 2020 than this? Of course I have NO idea if the newcomer is meant to be a 'replacement' to 2020 or merely a new flight game that consists of various specific scenarios without the global airport choice, aircraft choice etc that we now enjoy? I dunno but I'm certain I WILL know long before the time comes to open my wallet........ again. LOL
  17. Saw this trailer just now, presumably only for XBox? Flight Sim 2024
  18. For those who might be interested in purchasing one - here is the link to the guy's website who makes the units - Made in the USA too. GrassMonkey IR Headsets I started with his 60hz model in 2020 and have since upgraded to the 240hz Monkey King Odyssey. Works great and IMHO very affordable compared to the VR goggle systems. Worth noting that the headset is wireless for freedom of movement in the 'cockpit'. I am NOT in any way affiliated with GrassMonkey, I'm just a fan of his product.
  19. A quick note regarding OpenTrack, head tracker headsets and the like, IF you find the camera jumping around like it is possessed and it only stops when you go to camera controls and turn off Track IR? Like just happened to me a few minutes ago? Fret not, Open up your Windows 'Task Manager" - Control/Alt/ Delete - and locate Open Track. You will find likely that there are TWO open apps. END both of them. Restart OpenTrack and all will again be right with the world. Don't known how I keep making this dumb error, but it has happened a few times over the couple years I've had the head tracker gizmo. Fat fingers or too quick double clicking the old mouse I reckon.
  20. Happy shopping. Understand that my current setup is not a single purchase event. Rather it has resulted from a series of upgrades over the years as my limited budget has allowed.
  21. I can't afford a full-on VR setup so I use and like my affordable GrassMonkey head tracker gear. It really adds to the sim immersion. I have a designated button on my joystick and yoke to toggle between the inside and outside cameras. In outside view my speed, flap setting, throttle, direction etc are all visible as is of course the rear of the aircraft to confirm landing gear, flaps etc.
  22. Throttle is the rotating lever on the front base of the joystock.
  23. Keyboard and mouse IS a challenging approach. My 1st upgrade, before going to a full yoke/throttle/trim/rudder "cockpit" was to get a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick - about $30 USD on Amazon - really improves the sim immersion.
  24. MSgt, this Vietnam Vet says thank you for your service. As to the rest - Nels is no longer in charge here, so take him off yer fecal roster please. You suggest that no one will truly care if you leave or stay? I suspect in that you are correct. The GREAT thing about life is that it is a series of choices. You get to make yours, I get to make mine etc. and we all get to live with the consequences of those choices. I kinda like it here and plan on staying.
