  1. So I am able to fly for about an hour or 2 before the. crash (freeze up) and BSOD and different codes each time.

I am running MSFS with no weather, no antivirus

I know it's not hardware cause I can run XPLANE 11 while multitasking on computer

As Tim & myself have said.. MSFS doesn’t like overclocking. Try dropping your CPU down to 3.8

With you getting BSODs then it’s likely to be hardware. I presume Windows is up to date?

  2. I did downclock it to 4.5 and it crashed, would going down to 3.8 make any difference.????

I can fly for an hour or more when it will crash while in cruise.

Are you getting any crashes or not.?

    THANKS

I don’t know if going down to the default speed of 3.8 will help but it might be worth a try. Afterall, MSFS doesn’t like overclocked hardware. I have had CTD’s previously, but not for a while.

  3. If you are using a laptop than I can understand why you might prefer a 2D panel. The new sim is completely different to all previous sims (& light years ahead!) but although many may disagree, it is better to run it on a desktop, or with an external screen at least.

I spent a small fortune on scenery when I used to fly FSX but now there is 1000 times more scenery built into the sim than I ever had, and it’s so much better.

  4. Hi,

I take it you have upgraded the pc but not updated your signature on here? :)

I personally fly in VR but used to use three screens, with the image dragged across all three. Not ideal but it works. I do tend to fly small aircraft, but never had an issue with virtual cockpits anyway. Assuming you don’t have VR (or TrackIr?) it’s just a case of looking around the cockpit with your mouse.

What is the payware issue? If it is aircraft..scenery etc designed for MSFS then you shouldn’t have any problems. You can’t use payware designed for previous versions though if that’s what you’ve been trying to do.

Edit: I see your new specs now :)

  5. Hi John,

I agree, reinstalling the Bell is probably a good idea. Until yesterday I hadn’t actually flown it for a while and I didn’t even have it installed so had to do just that.

Just had another go, mainly to check the loading time. From me selecting the Bell..airport.etc to it being ready.. took about 30 seconds! Don’t know if it made any difference but I launched the heli manager before launching the sim. When MSFS was ready for me to fly, the heli manager was set to realistic. I didn’t think I’d left it set to that yesterday. Maybe now it chooses that setting by default?

  6. You can save your flight anywhere.. either in the air or on the ground. Press Esc so that the sim pauses and the menu pops up. You can then either press the spacebar or the load/save option at bottom of screen. Only drawback is when you reload your flight you won’t be able to change the weather.

I’m sure I’ve read that there is a way to speed up the sim, but I’ve never tried it or looked into it. There is also a replay mode now. Think you have to enable developer mode first

  7. Hi Johny,

I’m not saying your ram is bad. The standard clock speed for ram is 2400mhz. Although your ram can run at 3600 (& is advertised/sold for that speed, it is technically overclocking. Ram sticks can vary in tolerance, so 3600 could be close to that. I have had problems with CTDs a while back and found that simply dropping the speed a little made all the difference.

If you’re not familiar with the bios though it might be a little daunting. I have to go to work now & am a bit stuck for time but maybe someone else could help.

I think 750w should be fine for your system, providing it’s a good quality psu. Personally I’d have preferred more but you should be ok with that.

I would also check if you’ve any addons causing the problem, as Bob (Plainsman) suggested

    Regards

    Steve
