I think it might be worth doing what Bob (Plainsman) has suggested.
Having a CTD is one thing, but if you’re getting the BSOD as well, then something’s not right. It usually means hardware, drivers, or incompatible software. What does it say on the BSOD. I don’t suppose it gives an insight to the problem or makes much sense?

Johny did you check out that post I told you about on NZXT? it appears, some say it could be the cause of crashes.

No, there are no bird strikes in MSFS.
Maybe one day :)

Yes, I would think so.
I had a slightly different message a short while ago “due to an unexpected error, we cannot connect..†or something like that. I guess it’s affecting most of us.
The sim did work ok a few minutes later so I guess it’s a bit intermittent

No problem. At least there’s nothing wrong with your system.. or the new headset!

I downloaded and installed NVIDA's update and now MSFS won't start, I get a message from MS telling me that I'm offline.
Of course I am "online", or I wouldn't be posting this. I have no idea what to do to get MSFS working again - any ideas?
It started loading after about 15 minutes.
I don't know what that was all about.

Glad you’re impressed! :)
Is it just MSFS that’s blurry? You will notice that the sim now has two graphics settings pages… one for PC (monitors) and one for VR - you might want to check out the VR settings.
Also download / install OpenXR if you haven’t already (from MS Store)
check this out..
As for MSFS settings.. you’ll find that VR runs better if you reduce the settings on the PC (monitor) options page to low.
Hope this helps.
Glad the boss likes it too!
Oh and also download and install the latest nvidia drivers (512.59)
I always go for the clean install option.

I could.. but our systems are completely different and I fly in VR - when you have a VR headset, MSFS shows two different option screens. One for PC and one for VR. I keep all the PC settings on low/minimum as VR works better that way. Of course all my settings on the VR page are on ultra/max.
I presume the overclock/monitoring program you are using is NZXT Cam? I’m not familiar with it myself but you may find this interesting…
As some of us said earlier though… try to avoid overclocking when running MSFS

My specs are lower than yours but I'm applying tweaks readily available everywhere I can easily hit 60 FPS in 1080p and maintain minimum of 47!! You will have no problems!
Out of curiosity.. what are your specs? Maybe you could add them in your signature?

You won’t need to keep changing views anymore :) well not so much anyway. You’ll just move your head around. I keep my keyboard nearby, always in the same place. I do use the cursor keys occasionally, for moving my viewpoint back/forward/left/right. I presume you’ll already have a key or controller setup for internal/external view.
Also I’ve got the spacebar setup to show/hide the toolbar (for weather etc) as simply moving the mouse/cursor to the top of the screen doesn’t work in VR. You have to bind a control for the VR Toolbar.
When you do get the Reverb (or whichever headset you decide on) one of the first things you must do is bind a control to centre your view, plus a control to enable/disable VR
Setting the “centre your view†control is essential.. before you enable VR for the first time. Many of us learnt this the hard way LOL
You load a flight.. activate VR… only to see a message in the headset “press the control to centre your view†(or something like that) then to realise you’re gonna have quit and bind the control first LOL

No problem.
I’m not familiar with the Logitech flightstick, but I don’t know why you would have to change it,. You get use to the position and feel of any controller. Presumably you don’t look down at the stick while using it?
I use the Honeycomb yoke and throttles (plus Siatek throttle for mixture and parking brake) I know exactly where they are, while wearing the headset. You soon get used feeling around.
The Reverb has its own (handheld) controllers. That might be what you have read about? I’m not sure if MSFS supports them yet, but I personally don’t like using them anyway. Their batteries don’t last long and I prefer to use my own controls.
By the way, check out VR FlightSimGuy on YouTube. He has some excellent videos on the G2 & other headsets,

The boss (wife), :) has given me permission to get a VR set. That being said, the question is, which one would work best with my setup etc...
My computer specs are listed below.
I am using a dual monitor setup (not sure if that is relevant), and I do wear glasses all the time (well, except when sleeping, lol)
I was looking at the HP Reverb G2
Thoughts??
Nice one boss! :)
Reverb G2? Absolutely! I started with a Rift (CV1). I now have a Quest, Quest 2 and of course a Reverb G2.
The G2 works incredibly well with MSFS, especially since the latest update & the lat3st nvidia drivers.
I too wear glasses and have never had a problem. As long as your glasses aren’t huge. With my previous glasses, I ordered the cheapest available in a small frame, as a spare pair and used these for VR.
I recently got a new pair and completely forgot about VR while in the shop! so my new glasses are just a little larger than I would have liked, but still not a problem. Any bigger then it might have been an issue.
You’re gonna love VR though David. I have three 43†screens and several Saitek panels… all obsolete since changing to VR :) You get a different perspective in VR, which you don’t get with flat screens. I could never go back.

Thanks Kevin, and thanks nVidia!
GPU drivers rarely make such a big difference but 512.59 certainly has :)

Not sure if VR is any smoother though
Well I am now! I have just installed the latest nvidia GPU drivers and wow! MSFS is even smoother! Took a high speed tour of London in the Hawk T1 and it was so smooth :)

I had the Oculus Rift S at first but got tired of the screen door effect of the larger pixels. I switched to the HP Reverb G2 a year ago and would never go back.
Same here :) (except I had the Rift CV1 before getting the G2)

Hi,
You’ll probably be able to run MSFS with that spec, although I’m a little unsure of your CPU. What I would recommend is that you sign up for the Xbox game pass (trial)
It costs just £1 / $1 for a month’s trial. You will be able to try MSFS (standard edition) and see how it looks / performs for yourself. Just remember to cancel the trial before the month is up (& then buy the sim outright if you wish)

Like 60 deg
Cool :)
That sounds quite low to me.

I agree it would be quite useful, but it would mean more clutter in the skies.
A few weeks ago while taking off from Leeds/Bradford in the Eurofighter Typhoon, I spotted a game tag which was clearly an amateur radio callsign. I headed off after it for a bit of fun. It was further away than I thought but it still didn’t take me too long to catch up. More info with the game tag would have helped of course. I slowed down as I approached him & flew past, waving my wings.. then headed back.
A bit later on I received an email from the pilot (he had looked up my callsign) asking if he had eyeballed me in the virtual skies LOL.

If you turn on developer mode, there’s an option to teleport to any location. Don’t think you can set your speed that way though.
There’s also an option to change aircraft. Much quicker than going back to the main menu etc.

So I may have found an answer to my crashes to desktop/bsod while in flight. MSFS.....
I turned down the terrain detail from 240 to 200, and terrain radius from 160 to 115
So far I have done 2, 4hr flights with no issues
So what does this indicate why the computer froze and crashed.?????????????????
Thanks
Glad it’s working now :)
Does your RTX 3080 have two power sockets or three? (My 3090 needs 3) Did you install it yourself or was it included with the pc / had someone install it for you.
The reason I ask is that when I bought my previous graphics card (RTX 2080Ti) I made the schoolboy error of using a y-splitter instead of using two separate cables. The card then wasn’t getting enough power at times. I realised my mistake but it’s easily done.
When i bought the 3080 I made sure I used three separate cables. I guess I had learnt from my mistake.
I don’t suppose thi is is the issue with yours though, especially if someone else installed it but I thought it might be worth mentioning

I have now updated the sim & have had a quick flight around Leeds/Bradford in the Robin DR400. No problems here. It downloaded & installed ok. Not sure if VR is any smoother though as it was pretty good before for me.
I hadn’t flown the Robin for a while, but I noticed tonight there’s an annoying reflection coming from the centre of the windscreen (in VR) Never seen this before. All good otherwise :)
Edit: just taken the C172 for a spin. No annoying reflection with that so maybe it’s just the Robin. There does appear to be more reflections generally though (unless I’m imagining it) and looks pretty good.

All low and slow so far, Cessna 172 and Just Flight Warrior flying around Michigan and California. Much improved smoothness in VR and everything working just fine!!
VR is smoother? I’m looking forward to updating :)
Just got to get work out of the way first

Hi Steve,
You’ve got some textures missing. I found a thread about this on the avsim forum..
