  1. I’m surprised by that. I had read somewhere that you couldn’t do it, or is a bad idea (because of bottlenecks) at least. If it’s working ok with your usb 3.0 drive then fair enough. Maybe it will work with an Xbox then. Mind you.. his 500gb is probably still plenty for a while yet anyway. Regards Steve
  2. Hi, I personally don’t own an Xbox and have never had one. I’m guessing the expansion card is an external, plug in device? If so then I doubt you could do it. With a pc, you can install MSFS on a second drive… but not an external one. I think it’ll be the same for an Xbox, but I might be wrong. Regards Steve
  3. Hi, can you give us an idea of spec.. and which version of windows you have please? It might be simply a case of having to install or update the Xbox app if nothing happens when you click install. Have you tried logging out of the store and back in? Which version of the sim did you buy and which one are you trying to install from the store? You always install the standard version from the store, irrespective of the one you own. You are then prompted during the installation to install the delux/premium deluxe content. As for the discs, there have been a lot of posts on this and other forums saying the same thing. Cyclic redundancy data error? Often dirt or scratches on the discs, but could also mean your dvd drive is a bit fussy and won’t accept the disc. I’m assuming they were bought from a reputable source? Regards Steve
  4. I fly a variety of aircraft, although i don’t bother with the big jets so much. My favourite used to be the Robin DR400 but I have expanded my hanger quite a bit now. My current favourites being the three Turbo Arrows by Just Flight, the MODEL 61 Long-EZ.. and the H135 ( freeware) and H145 helicopters. Mind you.. yesterday I was flying the T1 Hawk! Another great one in VR :) Regards Steve
  5. Sorry that didn’t work. There are more posts on the official forums about it. https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/solved-microsoft-visual-c-runtime-library-assertion-failed/279475 Maybe something here will fix it. Regards Steve
  6. Is the sim working though? On the options page, you can set the size of the cache. The default setting is 8Gb (mine is also 8gb) Assuming you’re back up and running, go into settings..click the Data tab and scroll down and you’ll see Rolling Cache Limit is set to 8Gb - you can change this if you want I’d probably just leave it for the time being. Regards Steve
  7. There's a good chance you'll find the rolling cache here... C:\Users\email\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache the actual file is called ROLLINGCACHE.CCC Regards Steve
  8. Hi, this might help… https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/c-assertion-error/359958/18 It mentions “visual studio” (no, I haven’t a clue either!) and one suggestion is to delete rolling cache. Anyway. Take a look and hopefully it’ll help. Regards Steve
  9. I’m not sure you need to download or install it. If you have Windows 10 then you already have DirectX as it’s built in. Regards Steve
  10. This question gets asked each time but the answer is the same.. the updates are mandatory. It’s a (mainly) online based sim, so everyone needs to be running the same version. Of you may not have any problems. I didn’t and it’s running very well. Regards Steve
  11. I’m not sure if this is it..but if you go into settings and click the traffic tab, then scroll down. There’s a setting at the bottom of the page for “variety of traffic “ or something similar. Might be worth a look. Regards Steve
  12. I thought that was the way to bring it up! I didn’t know about the three dots. Not that I use the map very often (I have a better one, for VR) Regards Steve
  13. Cheers Keith. I’ll certainly check that one out :) Regards Steve
  14. It’s FREE at flightsim.to and is excellent! I downloaded it tonight… but it didn’t feel right visiting it without a warbird, so I spent some money and bought FlyingIron’s Spitfire from the Marketplace. Not the easiest plane to start. It took me ages to figure it out LOL The FREE scenery is certainly good though :) Regards Steve
  15. Hi, there are always reports of this happening with each update. I think it’s a bug. There are plenty of posts about it..like this one… https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/no-15gb-patch-here-but-donwloading-the-full-110gb-game-again/273565/94 Regards Steve
  16. I’m with you on this one. A bit expensive isn’t it? Don’t think I’ll bother either. Regards Steve
  17. Does disc 1 work ok? Going by another post on this forum, you maybe able to download the sim from Microsoft, assuming the discs were bought from an official source of course. Go into the MS Store and see if it says you own Microsoft Flight Simulator. If it does, then you can download it from there (standard version) You will still need disc 1 in your drive to run it though. Regards Steve
  18. I’m surprised by that too.. and so are many others. There are loads of posts and articles around the internet about it… and possible workarounds… like this one.. https://senpai.club/install-windows-11-on-non-listed-cpu-i7-7700k-and-asus-z270-a/ Regards Steve
  19. You get this when the dvd drive is struggling to read the disc. Often giving the disc a rinse under a tap ( then a very gentle wipe to dry it) will fix it. As long as it’s not scratched. There are several reports of this and several posts… like this one.. https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?334429-MSFS20-cd-download-failure Did you get them from Aerosoft? Regards Steve
  20. You might have to turn on show hidden files to see it. Look under folder options…view…. then check “show hidden files, folders and drives” Regards Steve
  21. Downloading the standard version is the correct way to do it anyway. I always go for the standard version but it then prompts me during the install, asking if I want the deluxe/premium deluxe. I’m surprised it’ll let you download it though, with you only buying the disc version. Although I suppose even if you install from the discs, you then have all the updates. Not sure about your photogrammetry problem. Regards Steve
  22. On mine, it’s simply D:\\MSFS but yours will probably be something like… C:\Users\*your pc*\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe Regards Steve
  23. Great!!! I’m so glad we solved it :) :) :) I know from my own experience that Ram speeds etc can cause so much trouble. Welcome back to the virtual skies! Regards Steve
