  1. Sounds like you need to know how to work with zip files. The files are zipped. So you need WinZip or 7Zip program to 'un-zip' the download files (which are compressed, or 'zipped'). In the zip download the files will have a folder structure that will place the files into you 'SimObjects\Airplanes' folder IF you have 'Use Folder Names' ticked. It is best to un-zip to a TEMP folder and then move, or copy, the folders to your 'SimObjects\Airplanes' folder. Go to YouTube to find videos on how to do all of this if you want. Good luck. 2. No REAL need to edit air file. In aircraft cfg go to (Flight Tuning) and increase 'parasite drag' from 1.0 to 2.0 (4.0 max) and test (only way). You could also reduce your vertical speed to 1000 fpm and if needed you can change it to 1800 fpm to get to altitude and then change back to 1000. If you want you could go into air file in (flight dynamics) and increase 'fuselage drag' by 10%/50%/100% (test). Or, if it's 75 (too low!) then you can increase it to 128 with nothing getting too much out of whack (if at all). I don't have this model so could not test it for you. Happy flying! Chuck B Napamule PS: it would take you a week to read and implement all that info/parameter in 'Airfile editing..' post. Ha.
  3. Al Haynes passed August 2019. United Airlines issued a statement thanking him for "his exceptional efforts aboard Flight UA232". Here is a graphic of the flight path after engine failure. Amazing. Chuck B Napamule
  4. Wrong forum. This is General Support for A.S.S. (Auto Sports Simulation - ie: race cars). This thread should be put in the outer marker or ? Chuck B Napamule
  5. Me? I would just use 2 sidewinders. Make the one on right for flight controls and the one on the left strictly for throttle(s). You can then map the 4 buttons for engine 1, 2, 3 and 4. You can use forward push of stick to give throttle (to the 'selected' engine(s) picked by use of buttons 1-4). On stick are other 'thumb' buttons you can map to F1 (cut) and F4 (full). Setting up controls thru FSX, and/or FSUIPC, would be much easier to do than to re-wire the whole thing - which might not even work. My 2 cents. Chuck B Napamule
  6. The Ruth models have 1 contact point for gear(s). It would have to have 2 or 3 cnt pts to be able for gear to be 'just touching' runway, then followed by 2nd and 3rd cnt pt 'touching' & then 'fully compressed (ie:all gear on gound). That would require annimation (for 3 cnt pts) that is not possible with just 1 cnt pt. So, it's (1). 'tillted': not yet touching and (2).'level': touching (all). That is to say only 'ON' or 'OFF' is possible, with nothing in between. So it can not do what the 'real' tillted boogies can do. Chuck B Napamule
  7. The '180' is the STEERABLE one. The '40' is the NON-STEERABLE one. They made a mistake. Fix it. Chuck B Napamule
  8. You might find lots of info on YouTube. I imagine someone out there is doing (or has done) what you are doing - even if it was in 2009 (hehe). Here is something you may be interested in: Joystick Controller Page: https://www.slagcoin.com/joystick.html . Every bit of info helps. Chuck B Napamule
  9. This is the definitve answer: ''..your mouse wheel..''. No mouse? No mouse wheel! You go to vc and click on dial with numbers (for whatever AP function you want) then spin your mouse wheel to change the numbers. Too easy? If I did not have a mouse, and a joystick, I just would not fly. It would be impossible for me to tolerate the pain and suffering of trying to fly with only the keyboard. I feel for you. Chuck B Napamule
  10. Don't worry. You won't be a 'pilot' for very long. The airplane will disentagrate and you will be a 'flying object' with no parachute. Bye Bye Birdie! Chuck B Napamule
  11. Which model is it? PAD? Project Fokker? Need more info. If it's the Project Fokker I looked at aircraft config and spoted a couple of things that might be causing this. Of course, if you are making a 180 at 350 kts then all bets are off. Speed makes a difference (and should be around 150 kts max) for auto pilot heading changes. There are 'limits' you know (hehe). Chuck B Napamule
  12. Robin, Well it's getting late (4pm) so it will have to be tomorrow. I am still working on it. Need to do the lights section (did it have one? hehe). I put in the floats. It's ok if you land at 70 kts. At 30 kts the vertical speed is too much and it crashes to 500 ft. But where are you going to find water in space anyway! My rear view mirrow fell off and have to glue it back on. Anyway Saturday is my 'day off' (said the retired geezer-ha). It goes 1500 kts at FS150. Not sure how it will handle at FL999. I had it to FL500 and it was ok. Am I done? Nope. But I will send new FDEs late Sunday (Monday your time). And I also have to try it out in FSX Accel to see if it even loads more less work. Only the MOI's are different so it could be it will work good. We shall see. CUL8R. Chuck B Napamule
  13. Robin, I got a different set of FDEs and it handles much much better now (99% improvement). But it still lands at 60 to 70 kts. And taxi is touchy. Might have to add 2 more gear in front and 2 in the back for a total of 12 gear (cnt pts). Busy today so will have to be tomorrow. This model does not have spoiler? I wish I knew more about modeling so I could figure why the spoiler does not work as expected. And when you brake it wants to tip and flip. Could it be the model? Wish I could figure out. It's all wrong. The files are there for modelers to modify this thing. Wish Erwin Welker would take this job on. He would probably fix it. Thanks for the compliments. I resemble those remarks (hehe). Not no master. Just genius-which is 99% persperation and 1% inspiration. I learn something new every day. Will get back to you tamale. Chuck B Napamule
  14. Well I had to install FS9 but this gave me a good excuse to do it. This model's 'gear' (jointed), and how it affects the cnt pts, is probably the most difficult cnt pts I EVER had to do. Phew! But I got it to behave (not bounce, or tilt and crash when you brake) and sent FDEs (zip) in email attachment so check your email. It IS a 'WIP' as I need to do more tweaking ALL OVER all and everything! What a mess. But I love it (hehe). Chuck B Napamule
  15. You might find that when you browse to the install exe (as opposed to using 'Auto Run' to begin intall) that if you DO NOT do 'Right Click' and 'Run As Adminstrator' that the process will run 'full speed' with no clatter of disc, etc. And when you get it installed and have FSX icon on desktop that you also NOT DO 'Right Click' and 'Run As Adminstrator' will suffice. FSX lets Win 10 do what IT (Win 10) wants to do when you 'Run As Adminstrator' (ie: give Win 10 permission to run files thru what ever 'filter' it wants to use) thus messing up your attempt to install ANYTHING. Especially FSX. Win 10 hates FSX. My 2 cents. Chuck B Napamule Edit: BUT, if you are going to install to 'Program Files' then all bets are off as that alone is totally wrong.
  16. Those emails saying 'We need to meet..', etc are no more (or less) than DATING services. You reply, they send you pics of the 'date' that is waiting for you, they take your money and it's up to you to find that 'date' (Hong Kong, Saigon, etc). It's a scam aimed at 'lovelorn' men with money to burn (as will your ears and cheeks) with embarassment (bare ass ment? - ha) when you are 'stood up' (ha). Chuck B Napamule
  17. I don't think in 'real' life there can be 'zero wind'. There is always wind. What changes is the speed and direction. But there will always be wind. Chuck B Napamule
  18. I just downloaded and both of these HAVE a VC! Did not notice before (did not 'view' panel cfg). They fly 'ok' but it takes a lot (+5.0) of pitch trim to keep the nose up for landing. Both seem to fly alike (ie: have same 'problem' so probably same cfg and air file). Darn taildraggers! They are all have the same quirks ('garbage FDEs') or so it seems. Taxi turns are with differential braking IF you are moving SLOW so THAT is all wrong. The purists will say 'all taildraggers are hard to handle', etc. Bogus logic! It is BAD FDEs, that is what it is. They probably used the DC3 cfg and air files. HA! Chuck B Napamule
  19. You might not be able to MAKE a VC (for FSX) if it's a FS9 model. It's that simple. Or rather, not possible to do unless you have the model files and even then it would be a LOT of work! Not worth it. Chuck B Napamule
  20. The Enzo model is by Jessy Corrales and made in 2005 for FS9. I got it going in FSX Accel but in 2012 I lost a hard drive (found out FDE was not backed up!). So had to start over from scatch. I still used Bill Lyon's air file that he tweaked for his Willys Jeep. He knew his stuff. Perfect for vehicles. Some people actually tried using the C-172 air file for vehicles and, of course, that did not work. I changed lots of items in both the cfg and the air file to get the results I wanted. It took many, many, many hours of trial-n-error. I sweated tears of blood. It's streesful. But results are big reward. So I made video to show how well it handles on race track. It takes practice to get it to drive smooth due to high speeds. That takes days. And still I mess up on occasion and hit a fence or run into the gravel, etc. And at higher speeds if you try a 90 degree turn it will sail 200 feet in the air (ie: must slow down to make turns). Dynamics, dynamics, dynamics! I don't even fly any airplanes anymore. I just 'fly' and tweak vehicles all day. But, that is what I choose to do and I just love it. Still, it's not perfect. I keep working on FDEs but perhaps I will never ever get it perfect. But it's been FUN! Chuck B Napamule
  21. It could be as simple as: '...reloading the page in your browser'. You do this by pressing F5. Good luck. Chuck B Napamule
  22. The 'key' I believe (in your case) is to UN-INSTALL the OLD version (or the one you installed yesterday). Doing just copy/paste evidently won't work as textures have to be installed to other folders than just the folder that the bgl's get 'put' into (the folders you create manually for FS9). This Ontario scenery is 'New N Improved' and 'stand alone' so you HAVE to un-install (not just delete) the 'old' version. OK? OK! Chuck B Napamule Edit: ok, maybe not un-install. But there was also this in readme: 'IMPORTANT: If you have the previous version of this scenery you will need to delete a file which corrected the AI traffic altitude in the previous version. This file is named KONTelev.bgl and is contained in "FS2004"\Scenery\Namw\Scenery folder. DELETE IT.'
  23. Yes you can. You have to go to: 'FSRecorder Menu/Keyboard Controls' and ASSIGN a key press or combination. Then you can switch between manual and automatic panning using that KEY or Key Combo on your keyboard. Some combinations are already 'taken' by FSR so you might need to invent one for your own use. I never used pan switch so can't help. There is a PDF you can read that is located where you installed FSRecorder. I had to read it 40-11 times and STILL have to go back to it (been using FSR since 2007)!! It's hard to get your head around all the features, I know. But that is why I love FSR. You can do so much that you can't do otherwise. I imagine I 'played' around with FSR some 200 hours (or more) over the years. So stay calm and read it AGAIN to 'get it'. You will. Chuck B Napamule
  24. One more thing. If you give steering (40.0 below) you don't need to install type5 (water rudder) to cnt pts. You steer with rudder when in water and it's always 'ON' (no need to press any keys). Oh, if you key 'Lake Renegade' in 'All FSX Files' in search you will see my upload ('update') for it back in 2010. I (Nut Case) love to work on cnt pts! Chuck B Napamule Please try the 'below' floats. You MIGHT like the results. You might need to adjust the vertical a bit? ........................................................... //....... //.............. //... //................................. point.9= 4, 8.50, -9.50, -0.50, 8000, 0, 0.5000, 0.0, 0.100, 4.5, 1.0, 0.0, 0.0, 4, 0.0, 0.0 point.10=4, 8.50, 9.50, -0.50, 8000, 0, 0.5000, 0.0, 0.100, 4.5, 1.0, 0.0, 0.0, 4, 0.0, 0.0 point.11=4, -5.60, -9.50, -0.50, 8000, 0, 0.5000, 40.0, 0.100, 4.5, 1.0, 0.0, 0.0, 4, 0.0, 0.0 point.12=4, -5.60, 9.50, -0.50, 8000, 0, 0.5000, 40.0, 0.100, 4.5, 1.0, 0.0, 0.0, 4, 0.0, 0.0
