  1. Well you can't fly a chopper with a yoke and rudder pedals. Not in my book. You just need a GOOD twist grip joystick. The MS Sidewinder is the BEST - no springs even tho it does spring back to center. I know - I'll get snickers, and scoffs, and even a few 'YEAH, RIGHT' comments. But you SEE the results. And it's ALL due to that MS Sidewinder and a USB 10-keypad that you map the throttle keys to for giving and taking in SMALL INCREMENTS (1 tap up 2 taps down - all in one second). THAT is what makes it possible. Not no $1,000 cockpit with 3 monitors. OK? OK. What you have to do is go to FSX joystick calibrate and when you get to throttle window, set it to '0' (zero) and then jam the throttle slider on your joystick (jam a skinny white piece of plastic) to prevent it from moving MAKING SURE it STAYS at ZERO while still on calibrate window). Finish calibration. Now buy a $15 Targus USB 10 key pad and position to left of keyboard. You then operate the throttle with left hand fingers. See pic for layout. This works perfect for TOTAL CONTROL of chopper. I have my joystick to the right, arms length away, at 45 degree angle, and sitting on top of an old speaker box (22 inch high), with speakers removed, and weighed down with metal weights (about 30 lbs) so it doesn't move. NOW you can fly the choppers. Chuck B
  2. Well it was exactly 1 year ago that Scatterbrainkid posted here (12/31/2014, post #171) that he could not land the EH101 on Tokyo high rise (Hotel or Hospital - not sure). I posted a video in 'Flight Videos' forum of my landing the Canadian 'Dirty Bird' on that helipad. (The video shows 3 landings too many - mouse clicks must of 'duplicated' the same clip several times - I'm new at using Sony Vegas - but I'm learning - slow but sure). Chuck B
  3. Or, it could be as simple as you having 2 DVD's in your DVD drive. You will get a lot of chattering. Check and see if you have 2 DVD's. It won't wreck your DVD drive. The designers apparently made allowances for that. But the chatter will give it away as having 2 DVD's. Hope that's it. Chuck B
  4. I port over FS98, FS2k2, and FS9 models (vehicles, ufo's, etc) into FSX and now FSX Acceleration. I like 'experimental' type AC. And YES I have all of those Sims installed on my computer. Can't never have too many Sims. Chuck B Napamule
  5. Well, you can imagine what I CAN do by looking what the sim has to 'offer' as far as 'aircraft' is concerned in MY FSX. This FUN hangar took a LOT of work to establish. But I never get bored, that for sure. Chuck B Napamule Oh, and since we might take note of 'age': I am 74 1/2 yrs old. And I DO NOT have ANY 'payware' (aircraft or programs-except FRAPS and WinZip). You can't 'buy' FUN!!!
  6. Isn't it tied down backwards? The aerodynamics of the bottom of the capsule must result in a 'wagging' trailer, I would imagine. But I could be wrong. Maybe the way he has it tied down is correct? Of course, at higher speeds the truck would 'part' the air and there might not be any problem. (Dynamics, always dynamics - hehe).
  7. Gray,

    Well I dug the Mallard out (from the ('back up') My Book USB drive) and loaded it into FSX just for kicks. Well it showed. But when landing on water it will just jump, jump, jump (due to contact points) and won't stop (but won't 'crash' so you can still take off) and all of this really freaks me out. Very strange behavior. The FDEs I have are from 2006 and for FS9, and my FSX is Accleration, so I had to do changes to the air and a bunch to the cfg file. But it still bounces on the water. Will try it in FS9 tomorrow-it's late. Maybe I will get it working half way decent. Then I can email you the model. The only Mallard at Simviation had a messed up aircraft cfg (must of been written, and saved, with Wordpad). I thought everyone knew never to use Wordpad on aircraft cfg (and to always use Notepad). Talk with you later.

  8. Opa,

    Here is what they have (if it's the 'corsairX.zip'):

    idle_rpm_mechanical_efficiency_scalar= 0.65 //Scalar on idle RPM mechanical efficiency

    idle_rpm_friction_scalar= 1.0 //Scalar on idle RPM friction

    So it's backasswards. S/B 1.0 for Mech Eff, and 0.65 for Friction. Try that. Downloaded adn will try tonight. CUL8R.

  9. Opa,

    Sorry for delay. I might have said dbl click but the correct way is with LEFT mouse button clicks. The right button click will bring up context menu where you do the 'Open With' operation. I'll go check to see if I goofed up (again). Thanks for heads up.

    I will relate with you the 'right click' plus 'open with' and how it can mess things up. I right clicked an air file, and clicked 'open with FLV Video Converter' by mistake (fast hands but slow brain-hehe). Had to go registry to delete the 'opens with' problem. I open air files with right click on AirEd Icon on my desktop, then 'Open' and browse to air file (which is correct and only way, as AirEd is not registered so air files don't open automatically when you 'dbl click' them (with left mouse). Hope you had a pleasant Easter Holiday. CUL8R.

  10. Well, I don't really need this. I am an ole geezer and you are a young man. Our taste would probably be worlds apart. But, thanks anyway. See you around (the forums). No hard feelings I hope. Cheers.
  11. Just 'need' to point out that Patrice Grange 'tail sitter', or 'Coleoptere', found here, contains MY cfg and MY air (per batum-exact copies) that I used for V-22 Fix. He did not ask, just took possesion and claimed them as if they were his work. They are circa 8/3/2004 and 9/5/2005, but still mine. I would ask if you could remove file and see how that feels to him. What a phoney buzzard. I'm at cbackus3@att.net. Thanks for your time. Sorry to bother.
