  1. Thanks for the response, Bill! I was concerned about the fuel flow issues as well, but I wasn't aware there was a fix for that, so I'll have to give it a try.
  2. Great shots, Bill! How does the CJ4 fly? I've been wanting to fly the Longitude, but I heard it's a mess.
  3. Aspen is a beautiful place, but we weren't able to stay long as we needed to head out on the next leg of our trip. This next flight we go from beautiful Aspen, Colorado to incredible Jackson Hole, Wyoming in the Bonanza. The Bonaza we were flying came equipped with the most recent G36 modifications, as well as the new G1000 improvement mod, so I was looking forward to testing this bird out. Here we go! Takeoff roll on runway 15 Climbing out of Aspen in a single-engine GA plane is incredibly challenging, but eventually we made it over the mountains Level at 11,000 enjoying the impressive views Passing Rock Springs Airport in Rock Springs, Wyoming The Teton Mountain Range comes into view as we near Jackson Hole Climbing over the mountains again Turning towards Jackson Hole Turning short final for runway 19 Crossing the threshold Leg #5 is complete, welcome to Jackson Hole! Besides the brutal climb out of Aspen, the Bonanza was a lot of fun to fly. It will definitely be a go-to plane for me going forward. Only two legs left! Thanks for viewing!
  4. Thanks guy! I just finished up leg #5, so I'll post those shots tomorrow.
  5. After an overnight stay in Kansas City, it was time to continue our journey as we head out on an early morning departure to Aspen in the TBM. While the plan was to fly low and slow, I knew the scenery wouldn't be much until we got to the Denver area, so mine as well get there quickly. Also, the approach into Aspen is no joke. I flew into there once in FSX and remembered it being really tough, and this was the same experience. Lined up on runway 1 at Wheeler Downtown Airport Climbing out of Kansas City as the sun rises Level at FL280 crossing over Kansas. This was actually my first high altitude flight in MSFS After having very little to look at, we now see the Rockies coming into view as we near Aurora and Denver Denver International under the left wing as we near the top of descent Descending into Aspen as we pass the Dillon Reservoir This livery looked okay when I was selecting it prior to the flight, but once we got in the air I quickly realized I was not a fan. Safe to say we'll be leaving this plane in Aspen! I really didn't think we were clearing the top of this mountain. It was CLOSE. As I mentioned the approach was tough so no shots from that, but the landing was relatively smooth all things considered. Taxiing off of runway 15 as we come to the end of leg #4 Welcome to Aspen! We're more than halfway there now, only three legs left in the trip! Thanks for viewing!
  6. Thanks Larry, David and Bob! I swapped planes while in Kansas City, so it's the next guys problem now!
  7. Thanks Bill and Michael! Michael, funny you mentioned Jackson Hole, I will be going there after Colorado so stay tuned!
  8. We're setting off on our third leg of our coast-to-coast journey after another plane swap, this time we will be flying the Grand Caravan. We departed St. Louis Downtown airport in the early evening and chased the sunset on our journey to Kansas City. We arrived at Wheeler Downtown airport just as the sun was setting. Our VFR departure allowed us to catch some incredible views of downtown St. Louis Overflying St. Louis Lambert Nothing but clear skies ahead The detail on the aircraft is incredible! Flying along the Mississippi River at 6,000' Descending into Kansas City as the sun begins to set The lights of downtown Kansas City starting to come into view Coming in a little high, but I was distracted by the nice view of the downtown area. Also, according to the big X's painted on the runway, runway 3 in apparently closed, but it had approaches listed for it so who knows Parked for the night. We will continue our journey in the morning Thanks again for viewing! The next leg is the only one I haven't decided on the destination, but I'm thinking somewhere in Colorado, possibly Telluride. If you have any recommendations on airports I should check out in that area, let me know!
  9. Thanks David! Thanks Michael! I plan on departing St. Louis VFR if weather allows so I can do a spin by the city and get some views of the arch, but flying under it may depend on the aircraft I'm in, lol!
  10. After a brief stop and a plane swap, it's time for the next leg of our coast-to-coast journey. Today's trip will be in the Baron G58 from Parkersburg, West Virginia to St. Louis Downtown Airport. Flight time is about 2:45. As you'll see we encountered lots of different weather from overcast skies, dodging storms and finishing with nice weather on our arrival into St. Louis (it was actually supposed to be stormy in STL as well, but the MSFS weather engine wasn't showing that.) Holding short of runway 21 at Parkersburg Crossing over West Virginia into Ohio. Even on a gloomy day this sim looks incredible The clouds are behind us for now... But not for long as we head towards a much more threatening looking storm Clouds are taking over again We're in the thick of things now It looked a lot worse than it was, just a few bumps and no rain Clear skies now as we begin our approach to Downtown airport No shots from landing, it was a bit hairy with a strong crosswind, but here is a shot taxiing in with the city of St. Louis in the background. Resizing the picture took some of the quality away, but if you look hard you can make out the arch. Parked on the busy ramp. Grabbing some lunch and fuel, and then it's off to our next destination Thanks as always for viewing!
  11. I'm just now starting to get the controls and key bindings sorted out with MSFS so at least now when I extend my flaps the parking brake doesn't come on. I'm not going to go on the crazed rant that some have about the autopilot, but make no mistake about it they're really bugged. After watching a few workaround tutorials I have it mostly figured out in the G1000, so I decided to go coast-to-coast with various legs, and maybe various aircraft, to enjoy all the scenery that MSFS has to offer. Our first leg is from the shores of New Jersey to the rolling hills of West Virginia. Unfortunately there was a heavy cloud layer for a majority of the trip, but we got to catch some nice views as we got closer to Parkersburg. Enjoy the shots!
  12. Thanks everyone! I went back and forth on building vs buying a prebuilt. I had done enough upgrades to my PC over the years that I was confident I could build it, but the idea of pulling a PC out of a box, plugging it in and playing was very tempting. After doing lots of research I came to realize that while most prebuilds provide you with a solid CPU and GPU, the other components are hit or miss. I was looking at an Intel build at one point that had a K’ version CPU meaning you can overclock, but the motherboard wasn’t strong enough to support overclocking. Ultimately I decided I wanted to have my PC be everything I would need and not require upgrades for a while, so building was the better option for me.
  13. I've enjoyed sharing with you guys my quest to get my cheap, store bought eight year old PC running well enough to handle FSX with some high-end addons and eye candy, and while it was holding its own, it was really beginning to show it's age. Once I saw the first screenshots and videos of MSFS, I knew it was time to do something I've wanted to do for years and build a real gaming PC. After getting the go-ahead from my financial advisor (aka my wife), it was time to make it happen. Over the last week I purchased everything, built the PC, got all of the necessary software and drivers installed and tested everything out to make sure it was operating properly (specs in my signature). Finally I installed MSFS yesterday and have started the task of learning all of the new controls, keys and nuances of the new sim. While I can confirm what many others have said, it's not perfect, the visuals really are stunning and are certainly worth dealing with a few of the issues that have popped up so far. I'm still very much learning this new sim, but here are a few screenshots of my first full flight from Reading, Pa to Cape May County, New Jersey as we cross the Delaware River at dusk in the Baron. I'm sure I'll have many more shots to come, especially once I get used to all of these new controls. I still haven't ruled out installing FSX on my new system considering the airliners in MSFS aren't that great just yet, but I'm going to give it a few more days before I make that decision. Thanks for viewing!
  14. In my last post I mentioned that my PC performance in the Orlando area was dreadful, so I ditched the dated freeware scenery and purchased the Taxi2Gate Orlando scenery to hopefully improve the experience. This will likely be my last FSX addon purchase before I build a new PC and move on to MSFS in the near future. Crazy to think that FSX actually performs better with highly detailed scenery that is well optimized, but it does! Onto the flight! We have yet another evening departure from Orlando as Frontier Flight 1168, and we fly a route that I've flown several times in real life to my hometown airport in Philadelphia. The catering trucks taking care of business prior to the passengers boarding Boarding complete and preparing for pushback as the sun begins to set Beginning our taxi in the Orville the Red Cardinal a320 Holding short of 36R We're off to Philadelphia! One final view of this awesome scenery Nearing our cruise altitude as the sun disappears over the horizon Passing the Commodore Barry Bridge and the Philadelphia Union stadium on the ILS approach to 9R The Boeing Ridley Park Plant where they build the Chinook and the V-22 Osprey, among other helicopters Welcome to Philadelphia! Thanks for viewing!
  15. Thanks guys! He was there the whole time, but he didn't bother anyone so we left him alone.
  16. I mentioned in my last few posts that I was using a program called "A Pilot's Life" and I has "hired" by Allegiant. Well while flying to new airports was interesting, flying into small airports with no available scenery updates got old quick, so I moved onto Frontier. I've knocked out a few flights with Frontier so far, including one last weekend where I finally took the plunge and flew on VATSIM. This evenings flight was a late afternoon departure from Buffalo with a sunset arrival into Orlando. Pushback complete in the Grizwald the Bear a320 Taxiing to runway 23 as a United Express ERJ touches down after a flight from Newark Climbing out of Buffalo with the trees already turning to their fall colors Flying over Pennsylvania as we level at our cruise altitude of 34,000 Beginning our descent into Orlando Continuing our descent on the CWRLD4 arrival On final for 18R. The KMCO scenery I have crushes my performance so this wasn't a very fun approach We made it! Starting our long taxi. We probably should have landed on the other side considering where our gate is located tonight. Oh well On time arrival for our passengers I have a few more flights in and out of Orlando on my schedule, and I fly there all the time anyway, so I think I may upgrade the scenery. Thanks for viewing!
  17. After flying to Rockford, Illinois from Vegas a few weeks ago, we did a few flights up and down the east coast before it was time to head back to Vegas. I actually did this flight yesterday evening, and it involved an evening departure from Orlando Sanford and skirting along the northern edge of Hurricane Laura before completing the 4.5 hour trip to McCarran International. Loading up at the gate in Orlando Taxiing out to runway 9L Climbing out of Sanford making a right turn towards the west coast of Florida It's no MSFS, but FSX put on a pretty good show last night! Passing the Hoover Dam on the TYSSN5 arrival into McCarran Welcome back to Vegas!
  18. Great shot, David! Looks like it’s a good week to fly the Alaska 737.
