  1. That may well be true but it doesn't deal with the pole routes, which is the question here. The only solutions I am aware of are to edit the terrain.cfg file as previously detailed, or to turn down realism settings. Either way it is an "all or none" solution. John
  2. Indeed - I heard from one developer that the work-load was as great as the building of the aircraft itself. Some of the developers of free products out there preferred to move onto their next work, their true love, and you certainly can't fault that when they are offering their work for nothing. The situation for commercial products is different of course. Purchasers are entitled to have expectations. John
  3. From my own experience, the attempt to connect with the "primary servers" always "times out" (and has done so for years) but it then it tries the secondary server and is fine. This adds a significant delay to initial load time. I haven't looked into detail, but there may be a way to define the servers to "try" in the opposite order. John
  4. I'm not sure of the purpose of this thread, is it to provide a list of what won't install? If so, please add FS Sound Studio. Frustrating, as I do not know of any alternative product. Maybe somebody does? John
  5. MyTraffic is a commercially available add-on utility. The current version of MyTraffic is only for FSX upwards. Traffic Tools, if you need it, can be found here: FlightSim.Com - Flight Simulator Must Have Downloads John
  6. It shouldn't be difficult, if you have Traffic Tools 2. De-compile the flightplans that send your aircraft to VHHH. Keep a backup of the original, just in case things don't go right. Then: In the flightplans, use a plain text editor to change all references from VHHH to VHHX. An advanced text editor will do a bulk replace in one shot. In the airports file, add an entry: VHHX,N22* 19.0176',E114* 12.1571',0 Recompile and test! John
  7. That thread concludes, it is clashing with something within FS9 so a full computer reinstall is not necessary. It can't be if you have other installs that do! I'd be looking at a reinstall of that specific installation of FS9, and selective testing as you go along. John
  8. There is discussion on FSDreamteam's own forum about this issue: bglman.dll causing FS9 to crash! (fsdreamteam.com) John
  9. The latitude and longitude settings have no significance or effect other than it saves you placing Ns and Ws (on those settings) if entering a location on the FS map manually. Best regards, John
  10. "Working on?" FSTramp (for FSX) has been around for ages. It was the FSTramp that saw the end of FSNavigator. Helge has strong view on keeping abreast of new software and he cut FSN off to develop FST which is, to be honest, magnificently better. I don't agree with his view, but it is his business, not mine! I don't know where his principles lie with the latest Microsoft simulator, though. John
  11. If you have copied your entire FS across, just run FSNavDBC.exe from the modules\FSNavigator\Bin directory to rebuild. Oh dear, that myth has surfaced again. There is no free version and never has been. I checked with the author. This so-called "free" version is the standard download and will only function for a limited time as a trial, when it will either require registration or if you are very lucky to be randomly selected you apparently get free registration. I've never heard of anybody that enjoyed that feature. John
  12. In my experience, it can be done. There is a Registry Repair tool available from Flight One. The only items that I think you may encounter issues with will be commercial add-ons with custom registration procedures - you will need to register them again. I've only encountered this with sceneries but I am told a few specialised aircraft use this method too. John
  13. I think it should work. I'm sure I have done that when moving to a new compooter. You can still download FSNavigator from a few sites if you need to do a fresh install, as long as you have kept your registration info somewhere safe. John
  14. I suppose I'm stating the obvious by suggesting you re-calibrate your joystick? John
  15. Mark, If its a fault in a paid-for product from a reputable seller (as it appears) the problem should be fixed. If it is an old product (as you suggest), the fix probably already exists. It is unlikely you are the first to have noticed it! So contact with the seller surely has to be the first approach. John

    weather software

Understood, Carlos. Hopefully somebody more technically minded than me can answer that. John

    weather software

FS Global is my preferred weather utility, although I keep FS Meteo as a standby as (being a pessimist) I cater for the fact that no web server is ever 100% reliable. It is discreet, reliable, and reasonably subtle with FS2004's weather area changes. When started, it will reload AI traffic to make sure everything is using the correct runways. As for size, mine occupies 36.3 MB but allowance should be made for the installation process using more than that. However, if you have that little spare space on disc you are running at a high risk of issues generally anyway. You can install FS Global anywhere you like, even on another drive. All weather programmes are limited to certain quirks of Flight Simulator such as the rain above cloud level. They are also all greatly enhanced with the use of high quality "3-D" clouds, if your setup can handle them. Hope that helps, John
  18. . . . or just reload the aircraft. You can assign a key such as R if this happens often. John
  19. Fair point, but a rare example. From what I have read that aircraft was built for FS2000! I think you will find the majority of add-ons that don't instantly work will require re-insertion of your registration code rather than using the registry. John
  20. Initially installing from disc adds the registry entry for FS. I have never come across an add-on that creates a registry entry. John
  21. One way to do it is to install FS2004 from disc, then copy all of your files over it. A few commercial products may need re-registering but otherwise everything should be honkydory, complete with the correct registry entry. John

    weather software

The only two I know of that work with FS2004 are: 1. FS Global: Welcome to PILOT'S! (pilots.shop) 2. FS Meteo: FS Meteo - Générateur météo John
  23. Telling you they will no longer support it if you interfere with it but are they going to fix it? Because if not they are not supporting it anyway. I would have no compunction in making changes of my own - all you have to do is retain a set of the original files in case you break it. AFX or ADE will remove taxi signs with ease. John
  24. You can just copy your existing files to where suits. The only thing that won't be there is the registry entry for FS, which some installers need. You can fix that with the Flight One Registry Repair Tool - https://www.flight1.com/view.asp?page=library . As was mentioned above, some existing commercial scenery may require re-registration. John
  25. There is a stage during the installation process where you are given the option to choose where to install it. It isn't obvious - you have to go through the installation with care. John
