  1. Hi, The same thing is happening to us, so you are not alone.
  2. First make sure that the entire C-47 folder has been deleted. If that doesn't fix it, post the fltsim sections of the aircraft.cfg file of the DC-3 you want to load. Then check that the AIR file is present as specified in the sim= lines, and the model folders are present as specified in the model= lines (model= is model, model=flyable is model.flyable, etc.).
  3. PS. AFAIK, you cannot use any wav file names outside of this list.
  4. Here is some info I saved from various forum threads: Posted by InBetween, Thu Jan-01-70 12:00 AM Greetings, It is indeed possible, ala the default fireworks display, or the flying chickens in the barnstorm effect in FS2004. Open the file fx_barnstorm.fx (in the FS9\effects folder) with Notepad and see the lines: Sound=5 Sound Param=40 These lines call a sound that is "hard-coded" into the Sim. The Sim looks for a specific wav file connected to the number "40", in this case the wav file "barn.wav" found in the FS9\sound folder. Cfs2 used this a lot in the effects files, here is the list: ---------------------------------------------------- Sound filenames associated with effects file entries ---------------------------------------------------- Sound type "5" Where three filenames are listed, one will play at random at each initiation of the effect... ---------------------------------------------------- FX file entry sound file(s) ---------------------------------------------------- Sound=5 Sound Param=0 firework.wav ---------------------------------------------------- Sound=5 Sound Param=3 xvlg_exp.wav ---------------------------------------------------- Sound=5 Sound Param=4 amb_aexp1a.wav amb_aexp1b.wav amb_aexp1c.wav ---------------------------------------------------- Sound=5 Sound Param=7 amb_aexp2a.wav amb_aexp2b.wav amb_aexp2c.wav ---------------------------------------------------- Sound=5 Sound Param=10 amb_aexp3a.wav amb_aexp3b.wav amb_aexp3c.wav ---------------------------------------------------- Sound=5 Sound Param=13 amb_aexp4a.wav amb_aexp4b.wav amb_aexp4c.wav ---------------------------------------------------- Sound=5 Sound Param=16 amb_wexp1a.wav amb_wexp1b.wav amb_wexp1c.wav ---------------------------------------------------- Sound=5 Sound Param=19 amb_wexp2a.wav amb_wexp2b.wav amb_wexp2c.wav ---------------------------------------------------- Sound=5 Sound Param=22 amb_wexp3a.wav amb_wexp3b.wav amb_wexp3c.wav ---------------------------------------------------- Sound=5 Sound Param=25 amb_wexp4a.wav amb_wexp4b.wav amb_wexp4c.wav ---------------------------------------------------- Sound=5 Sound Param=28 amb_gexp1a.wav amb_gexp1b.wav amb_gexp1c.wav ---------------------------------------------------- Sound=5 Sound Param=31 amb_gexp2a.wav amb_gexp2b.wav amb_gexp2c.wav ---------------------------------------------------- Sound=5 Sound Param=34 amb_gexp3a.wav amb_gexp3b.wav amb_gexp3c.wav ---------------------------------------------------- Sound=5 Sound Param=37 amb_gexp4a.wav amb_gexp4b.wav amb_gexp4c.wav ---------------------------------------------------- Sound type "6" These sounds play at one of four different "speeds" or "tones", chosen randomly each time by the Sim... The filename listed will play at each initiation of the effect, with four possible variations... ---------------------------------------------------- FX file entry sound file(s) ---------------------------------------------------- Sound=6 Sound Param=1 imp_large_a.wav ---------------------------------------------------- Sound=6 Sound Param=2 imp_large_b.wav ---------------------------------------------------- Sound=6 Sound Param=3 imp_large_c.wav ---------------------------------------------------- Sound=6 Sound Param=4 imp_large_d.wav ---------------------------------------------------- Sound=6 Sound Param=5 imp_large_e.wav ---------------------------------------------------- Sound=6 Sound Param=6 imp_med_a.wav ---------------------------------------------------- Sound=6 Sound Param=7 imp_med_b.wav ---------------------------------------------------- Sound=6 Sound Param=8 imp_med_c.wav ---------------------------------------------------- Sound=6 Sound Param=9 imp_med_d.wav ---------------------------------------------------- Sound=6 Sound Param=10 imp_med_e.wav ---------------------------------------------------- Sound=6 Sound Param=11 imp_small_a.wav ---------------------------------------------------- Sound=6 Sound Param=12 imp_small_b.wav ---------------------------------------------------- Sound=6 Sound Param=13 imp_small_c.wav ---------------------------------------------------- Sound=6 Sound Param=14 imp_small_d.wav ---------------------------------------------------- Sound=6 Sound Param=15 imp_small_e.wav ---------------------------------------------------- Sound=6 Sound Param=16 imp_small_f.wav ---------------------------------------------------- Sound=6 Sound Param=17 imp_small_g.wav ---------------------------------------------------- In FS2002/4 these still work, just use one of the combos above in naming the new sound.... EDIT: I forgot to mention the limitations: Sounds are "global" (heard everywhere). Sound plays once per effect initation, for the length of the wav file. Regards, JR
  5. Hi, Try it with the AI slider at 0%. If no crash, then it's likely an AI aircraft texture. If it still crashes, try unchecking the Active boxes of all your addon scenery in the Scenery Library and try the flight again. If no crash, then there is an addon scenery causing your problem. Hope this helps,
  6. One thing to try - if you use a terrain addon that has replaced the detail1.bmp file in the main FS2004/Scenery/World/texture folder, try backing up that file and replacing it with the default version on the FS2004 CD #4 (as I remember). If it doesn't help, reverse it.
  7. Hi, I was given these settings from a forum post some time ago and they resulted in a nice sharp terrain display. I didn't bother finding out if there were better settings, or what each one was. :)
  8. My settings in the cfg file: [TERRAIN] TERRAIN_ERROR_FACTOR=100.000000 TERRAIN_MIN_DEM_AREA=10.000000 TERRAIN_MAX_DEM_AREA=200.000000 TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL=19 TERRAIN_TEXTURE_SIZE_EXP=8 TERRAIN_AUTOGEN_DENSITY=5 TERRAIN_USE_GRADIENT_MAP=1 TERRAIN_EXTENDED_TEXTURES=1 TERRAIN_DEFAULT_RADIUS=9.500 TERRAIN_EXTENDED_RADIUS=4.500 TERRAIN_EXTENDED_LEVELS=232 Note that it's probably the last 4 lines that will help you.
  9. There are at least two things that will determine loading times - the format of the bitmaps (888 32 bit textures are probably the slowest to load, I assume) and the size (the larger the slower). Also, it depends on the capability of your video card - a faster card will, well, be faster!
  10. Hi, Just to tamp down expectations, the Classic version is not as detailed as 9Dragons; most buildings used are default models, for example.
  11. AFAIK all versions include the curved AI approach, including my Classic version.
  12. No there isn't. You will need to download an addon airport for that. There are at least two freeware airports, one modern and one classic.
  13. And about the not appearing when you start it: http://calclassic.proboards.com/thread/7470/fs2004-start-read
  14. To see if it is the cfg file, back up the plane's aircraft.cfg file. Then copy an Autopilot section from a plane's cfg file that does work OK and paste it in over the BAC-111's cfg file section. Save it and load the plane. See if it works now.
  15. Might it be OS related? I'm using Win 7 and it started OK for me. I've seen people with Win 10 report similar out of memory issues.
  16. Geez, I suggested exactly that a while back in the thread. I just don't get any respect... :)
  17. If the gauge is really transparent, you can just put some letters on the main panel bitmap and it will show through.
  18. AFAIK the language.dll file is found in your main FS2004 folder - mine is. If you need one in the other folder, just copy and paste it in.

    Fs9

See the previous thread for some suggestions. Just don't install it into any Program Files folder.
  20. Some appear to need it, others don't.
  21. Next time you have this problem, try using DXTBmp or Imagetool to re-save the problem textures - that sometimes fixes the corruption. The other possibility is that these are very small textures (less than 64 x 64 pixels) in DXT format, which causes crashes on some computers. The cure there is to save them in 256 color format. Hope this helps,
  22. That usually indicates that the airport's altitude does not match the elevation in this area.
  23. Hi, Glad to help. The issues you are seeing are due to it starting life as an AI heli, with some specific AI animations. If you can live with those you'll be fine.
