  1. “Hit the brakes and he’ll fly right by” comes to mind. derka derka derka, mohammed jihad
  2. I would think it would be safe to update. Windows 2004 is recommended by MSFS. I think 1904 is the minumum. But as a precaution, do your own Restore Point and system Image as well as a back-up. There's also an option on these big updates to roll back to a previous version. If your PC is in good working order - Lean and Mean - it shouldn't be a problem. Plus, you'll be blazing a trail for the rest of us and we'll be very grateful :) PS. My version updates are usually 2-3 weeks behind the initial release. But, I've had no issues whatsoever. (Lean and Mean) PPS. You could always wait until someone else (over on the MSFS site) reports in on the update. They're usually the first to complain about anything.
  3. Yoikes... looks like it's displaying the path value, not the alias. You might want to try doing a repair on the installation. But first, just try rebooting your PC (not restart, but a full power off, then back on), and maybe run an sfc (system file check) a few times, then check MSFS before repairing the install. And please tell me you DO NOT use any kind of Registry cleaner!!
  4. try typing WINVER in the search box and run as administrator. It should say Version 2004 (OS Build 19041.572)
  5. Bing maps/scenery is several years old. In milwaukee, the zoo interchange is at least 5 years old. It looks much, much different today. At least you have a hole in the ground. But look at the bright side - the sim probably still has Police in Minneapolis :)
  6. The airports and identified landing stripes in the Phillippines ARE ALL THERE. You just have to zoom in to see them. And as to why, I'm guessing it's because the zoom reveals Airstrips and Airports based on some criteria involving size/length/tonnage or emplanement. And whatever it's based on I'm sure it's global. If you'd like to volunteer your time to categorizing EVERY SINGLE area in the WORLD to classify how it's zoom ranks the airport visibility, I'd suggest you conatct ASOBO.
  7. I'm guessing the visibility of the airport is not based on geographic density, it's based on the classification of the airport. The shorter the runway, the more you have to zoom in.
  8. shb... there are 121 registered airports in ALL of the Phillippines. In the US there 24,026. Perhaps the reason you can't find too many airports in the Phillippines is because there AREN'T that many to find.
  9. as you drill down (zoom in) the dots appear - first as just white dots. Then as you zoom, more infromation is available. And, I'm sure you don't expect a similar geographic area in the phillippines to have the same amount of airports as one of the most densely populated areas in the world, do you?
  10. The answer is because there are over 40,000 airports in the world, and the map on the screen would not be able to show that many without the text being so small as to be unreadable. Thus, the need to Zoom in.
  11. I've flown around devils tower and the black hills several hours, and never had an issue. Thats with the downloaded scenery, in several different types of aircraft. In fact, in 75+ hours, I've had just one CTD, and that was my fault. I really feel sorry for those whose PC set-up cannot tolerate MSFS. It must be extremely frustrating. But for many, many, many simmers, the software works just fine. To those from whom it doesn't, you have my sympathy. But like my dad used to say, complaining doesn't fix the problem.
  12. So my question would be... if active pause is not stopping the sim time, or the aircraft in flight... what IS it pausing?
  13. As a former IT professional, I can tell you now, that 98% of all hardware issues are solved by a reboot of a PC or if possible, the connected device. Problem with your phone? reboot... problems with your WifI? reboot your router. Problem with your printer? reboot. The other day my Sirius XM was acting funky in my car... pulled over... shut my car down, restarted - problem solved. This should always be step ONE in every chip based device problem solving procedure.
  14. in the Assistance, under Options, look for Auto Rudder on the Ground, and set it to ON.
  15. Maybe because so many people can't find the Any Key, they decided to just skip removing it all together. I just left click my mouse on the screen. Works the same as the Any Key.
  16. 1000mps? you have a T1 line in your home? try https://www.speedtest.net/ and see what your real world speed is.
  17. Good luck. I'm on Spectrum (200mips download) and it took me about 10 minutes to download and install.
  18. Unless soneone has a better idea (and I'm sure there are lots of them), you might try to "Repair" the installation from the Programs Add/Remove section of Settings. CLick on the MS FLight sim, there will be a "remove" and "Repair" buttons. Choose Repair. But, wait till others confirm or have other ideas first. PS. is your Windows 10 up to date? are you on 2004?
  19. the patch is that size... you're not getting the whole game. It IS a little confusing getting it. It looks like you're getting the whole game when you click on it in the MS Store. But it will detect the installtion and only download the patch.
  20. Do you have sh*tload of stuff in your Community folder? All of that has to load before you can get to the home screen. And that stuff loads kind of slowly. Also, how big are your cache folders? Do you have a good internet connection - at least 25mibs? Whats your CPU? How fast is your RAM? Is your installation on a SSD or HD? All of these things affect how fast the program loads.
  21. Cobalt... I am 100% certain that I agree with your post.
  22. I fly with just a CH Products Flight Sim Yoke...no pedals. I'm quite satisfied. Some would say "but thats not how it is in reality", to which I would reply "Thats right, its a computer simulation". I do not intend to really fly a plane, so I don't really care that there's no pedals in my set up. I enjoy the simulation of flying around the world, low and slow. Thats the great thing about the software, if you want a compleately realistic experience, you can do that.
