/images/notams/notams22/uk2k1001.jpgWelcome to George Best Belfast City Airport (EGAC). Not to beconfused with Belfast International Airport (EGAA) which is 15 milesto the west. This City airport is right in the heart of Belfast, closeto the docks, the Exhibition centre and the Titanic museum. Directlyopposite is the famous original Shorts of Belfast factory complexwhich latter became a 'Bombardier' factory but has now changed handsagain to 'Spirit Aerospace' Belfast City airport opened in 1938 andwas called Sydenham Airport. It was the main airport at the time forBelfast, but war was too soon changed how it was used. During the war,it was named HMS Gadwall (also known as RNAS Belfast or RNASSydenham). Unlike other UK airports, it remained in RAF or RNASservice right up until 1978, carrying the name RAF Belfast. After 1978it was then purely used by Shorts aircraft manufacturers. In 1983, itstarted to attract interest from airlines as a true airport again, andvarious routes were started up. In 2001 a new modern terminal wasbuild and continued to expand. Today many airlines fly from BelfastCity including Flybe(version2), British Airways, EasyJet, Ryanair andAer Lingus. Ryanair, have since moved away due to the pandemic, butmay return at some point. /images/notams/notams22/uk2k0321.jpgYes, we've gone west! For 2022 we will be making US airports. There are many reasons forthis, part business and part getting bored with UK airports. Thereseems to be plenty of UK developers making airports here at themoment, so we are taking time out to make other airports in theworld. /images/notams/notams21/uk2k0627/ns1.jpgRonaldsway airport started live in the early 1930 and there wereflights to a number of different parts of the British mainland fromits grass runways. World War Two saw Ronaldsway being requisitioned bythe RAF in June 1940 to allow No 1 Ground Defence Gunners School tomove in and was renamed RAF Ronaldsway. It changed in 1944 when HMSUrley came into being and had as its main task torpedo bomberreconnaissance, mainly operating Fairey Barracudas. After the war itwent back to civil flights, but remained in Admiralty possession until1948, when it became the main airport for the island. The naval four runway layout survives in place, allowing forextensions and exapansion; although a typical four storey Navalcontrol tower from that period has now been demolished. /images/notams/notams21/uk2k0118.jpgLuton 2020HD for MSFS has now been updated to Version V1.05. With this version we have removed the AFD approach data, which forsome users may be the cause of a crash on start. In addition we have to follow Microsoft store guidance and not havetwo versions any more. Sorry but from now onwards, we have to remove theairliner static aircraft, but we have kept the GA static which DOESNOT effect an AI parking allocation. This is a compromise and has to be done sadly. The old V1.04 is still there if you wish to use that instead. In addition, the UK2000 common library is now part of the product, and will be part of all the airport products. This is not ideal but isanother compromise to do with the MS store requirements. Source UK2000 Previews Glasgow 2020HD UK2000 Suspending Scenery Development For X-Plane 11

/images/notams/notams21/uk2k0114.jpgWe have taken the difficult decision to suspend scenery developmentfor X-Plane 11 effective immediately. We know that many of ourcustomers may be unhappy with this decision, but there is simply notenough time in the day to develop for four simulators (FSX, P3D, XP11 andMSFS), when UK2000 has only one developer. Who have their own real lifecommitments and family to focus on. We faced many issues developing for XP11, as the simulator itselfwas like nothing we have developed for before; FSX, P3D and MSFS allhave the same backend infrastructure. MSFS promises to be the nextmajor simulator, obviously it is not at this stage yet, but we feel itwill be in the near future. So will be shifting our overall development focus to MSFS, P3D andFSX. This decision has not been easy, but it is a decision that wefeel we must take as an scenery developer for the betterment of ourstaff and developer to continue thriving in the future. Our current X-Plane 11 sceneries will continue to be available topurchase on our web site, if any customers want to grab any of thesesceneries.,/p> Sorry once again. Source

/images/notams/notams20/uk2k1101.jpgWe will be making ALL of our UK airports for MSFS 2020. This willtake approximately 2-4 years to complete, we can't say which order. Weare getting daily emails/comments/messages about 'When are you goingto make airport X'. We can't reply to all these, because we just don't have an answeras to when these will be released. P3D sceneries will still be released as normal, so P3D folks, you're not being abandoned. New P3D scenery being released inDecember/January hopefully. X-Plane support is looking to be dropped. /images/notams/notams20/uk2k0810.jpgWe have almost got one entire airport made, we are getting into theflow, but will not be released until many weeks after the sim isreleased. We can safely predict issues with the new sim, and will takemany FS2020 updates to settle things down. So far we would rather waitit out for sim stability and SDK maturity. Another comment here on the engine from a scenery developer'spoint. The more we make scenery for this sim, the more staggered weare and the thought that went into it, it's a miracle of design. Yesthere are still game breaking issues, which we are sure will besolved, but compared to the P3D and the X-Plane engine, the FS2020modelling engine design is leap years ahead of every other sim. Mostof the old Z-buffering (flashing) issues of FSX and P3D are gone, polygon sequencing is far better than older sims, flexibility indesign is endless, it all means as a designer, we don’t have to fightthe engine and come up with cheats to solve issues and is a pleasureto use. /images/notams/notams20/uk2k0810.jpgHi everyone, just a little update for everyone. We are not going toannounce plans or products, as we don't like to tip off thecompetition, but rest assured we are fully embracing the switch. Whensomething is due for release, we will announce it during the Betatesting stage. There are significant hurdles, the SDK is not finished, and there are some things that can't be done yet. But we have seen andlearnt enough to know that Asobo/FS2020 will continue to solve andrefine both the SDK and the sim, they are actively helping to come upwith scenery design solutions for third party developers and in timewill wipe away every other sim before. The key word is TIME, this is a major shift of technology andmethods from previous simulators, this is no simple upgrade forsure. It will be take time for tools to be made, it will take time formethods to be perfected and it will take time for users to switchover. But it will happen and we will be there with our products. Understand this, there can't be a simple 'port' of our oldscenery. In the past users have asked/expected for us to make a simpleport of scenery to a new flightsim, this is NOT possible withFS2020. Everything has to be remade and it will take a long time. It will be worth it in the end. Price will be based on time spent on developing the sceneries, which is our normal policy. Source

/images/notams/notams20/uk2k0715.jpgMSFS2020 now has a release date of mid August! This is far soonerthan we would have thought, especially considering the SDK is notcomplete. We don't have any products ready yet, but we do hope to startporting some in the next month, providing there is enough SDK to doit. Customers need to understand that MSFS2020 is not a simple simchange like P3D V4 to P3D V5, or even FS2004 to FSX. The move toMSFS2020 is more like Windows to Linux, it is totally different inevery way. We've had some users say that their FSX scenery will workin MSFS2020, absolutely it will NOT work. MSFS2020 uses a new modelformat, new AFD structures and a new terrain system, even the toolsand workflow is different. Because we now have to concentrate on MSFS2020 work, all other workincluding new airports, updates and minor bugs fixes will be on holdfor the next few months. Sorry if you were looking forward to any newreleases and remakes, they will still come, but will just be delayedby a few months. Source
