  1. Absolutely agree with that Pete however as my existing setup works well I might as well wait until 2020 is released to get the best I can for it.
  2. Brilliant! Shame you had to reinstall to find out. Dx10 preview activates a few visual effects, such as shadows(i think). DX10 was just being released at the time FSX came out. If you have any issues with it switched on do a search for "Steve's DX10 fixer". Happy flying Stinger Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  3. I am now wondering if it us something to do with directx. Try checking the DX10 preview button. I read a post that said another users fsx was crashing if he left dx10 preview unchecked. Not sure why this would be though. Worth a try. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  4. When you reinstalled fsx did it delete your saved flights? When i said try different flights it is important to change the DEFAULT flight then reboot. If a saved default flight becomes corrupted in some way it affects the sim even if you load a different flight at the free flight screen. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  5. The OP has reinstalled FSX. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  6. Have you tried turning McAfee off? Turn off your wifi hub before trying this. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  7. Hi , Sorry to hear that you are having problems. A long shot but my first thought would be to creat a new default flight or load one of your saved flights and make that the default. If that doesn't work then try a different fsx. cfg if you have one or move your existing fsx.cfg to somewhere safe to force fsx to create a new one. Best of luck Stinger Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  8. Thanks for that. I will take your advice i think as my existing i5 based pc is fine for the moment. Cheers Stinger Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  9. Hi all, I am looking at getting a new pc built for the new sim. I am ready to throw money at it. So, what would be the highest spec pc currently available ? Are there any component upgrades likely to be released in the next couple of months that would be worth waiting for? Recommendations greatly appreciated. Cheers Stinger Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  10. Thanks for letting us know Gary Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  11. I am running a gtx1070 with resolution similar to that in #2 acros 2x 24inch monitors. The card is also driving 2 additional 10 inch monitors. All 4 graphics ports are in use and it handles it fine. This is with a 3.4ghz i5 cpu and FSX. Regards Stinger Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  12. Not sure what hotel that is in the left of the MSFS screenshot but it looks like it's about to fall over ! [emoji23] Stinger Sent from my SM-T813 using Tapatalk
  13. The other thing that might be worth checking, and this is a problem that i have encountered, is the cpu and gpu temperatures. My problem was due to the cpu heat transfer paste needing renewal. You can get little programs to monitor and record the temps. Also consider if you had installed any addons just before it started, although one might expect any problem to manifest earlier in the flight. Just my thoughts. Good luck Stinger Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  14. If you have fsuipc it might be worth checking available VAS in case that runs low after a long flight, although you would normally see a "out of memory" error message. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  15. Thanks for the correction. Head wasn't screwed on correctly [emoji4] Sent from my SM-T813 using Tapatalk
  16. This error appears when your computer has run out of VIRTUAL memory. This is nothing to do with ram or hard drive memory but is a limitation of 32bit programs such as fsx. The only way to avoid this is to adjust your settings or use a less complicated aircraft. Perhaps you have installed a new addon? There a various programs to monitor virtual memory usage available including the payware version of fsuipc. Sorry Stinger Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  17. Hi all, For anyone that may be struggling to assign non-native FSX events to their cockpit switches/knobs I have uploaded a video to Youtube showing how to trace custom cockpit events using LINDA. If you go to assign one of your external switches/knobs and dont see the FSX event listed (or if you assign an fsx event and nothing happens) it will probably be because the aircraft developer has used custom variables in the gauge code to operate the switch. This video will show you how you can trace those custom variables (Lvars) and assign them to your external cockpit switch. Here is the link.... 18. Make sure you have this set as I had a similar issue everytime my printer software updated itself in the background. Cheers Stinger Sent from my SM-T813 using Tapatalk
  19. It may be worth asking the same question on the Avsim Home Cockpits forum. Lots of builders on there. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  20. If cost is the overriding concern then Arduino would be cheaper. There are dowloadable scripts for these so you wouldn't have to do much programming. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  21. You could go for the BBI64, You would only need 1 or 2 and would be cheaper to post. It shouldn't be too expensive as they are small and relatively light. Not sure if there is anything similar on Amazon that wouldn't require programming. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  22. Good one ! If it does that with my 70mbs broadband we are in real trouble [emoji16] Stinger Sent from my SM-T813 using Tapatalk
  23. My suggestion is this... Go into the relevant VC gauge file and find the mouse click code that operates what you want. Then write a new piece of code which wraps the code you found in a Local Variable instead of a mouse click. Then assign the operation of that local variable to a switch or key. In FSX the mouse macro maker of fsuipc doesn't work, In P3dv4 it does, which would make things much easier of course. Cheers Stinger Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  24. Hi, It could work as you say although i suspect that there will be gauge files you would need to copy over from your gauges folder too. I would say just try it and see. All the best Stinger Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  25. Basically real weather stopped working sometime back. To get real weather now you'll need an addon. I use Active Sky 2016 which is payware and I can highly recommend it but there are others out there too including freeware I believe. Good luck Stinger Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
