  1. Once again I have to eat my words. In one of my posts I was talking (complaining) that they forgot the Chrysler Building. I said that it was strange considering the history between the Broadway Tower and the Chrysler Building. In my mind, you can't talk about one without talking about the other. Then the other day I was fiddling around with that POHTOGRAMMIETRY thingee and other stuff in the DATA portion of the GENERAL OPTIONS section. I must have got some things right. After I made some changes I went on a test flight to NYC from JFK, there it was, standing tall and giving me the middle finger. VFRguy
  2. Don't know any thing about rolling cache enabled or how to enable it. Tell me. And tell me what kind of drive to buy and how to set it up and while you are at it, fix me dinner. I did a search, "Aircraft carrier" and nothing. That is why I have never found one. Thanks a lot fellas. I will strap on my Ultralight and go land on some carriers. VFRguy
  3. Sorry about my poor choice of words. Of coarse I mean uninstall. I have done that disk clean up, scan and all that stuff. It is just hard for me to believe I ran of space considering the small amount things I have installed. I guess the time will come to learn how to add a second hard drive or something like that to store my FS files in. By the way. I found my first Aircraft Carrier a little while ago. It is across the bay from San Francisco straight east. I think I found 5 in FS X.
  4. In March I bought a New computer just for the new Microsoft Flight Simulator. It has 500GB of memory. The only thing that I loaded into the new computer was a Word processor and a small puzzle program. I even deleted a whole bunch of stuff that came with the computer. I don't play games, except that puzzle thing and fly. I pay my bills also. That's about it. I then ordered the Flight Simulator (On Disk) and it will take 4 weeks to arrive. In the meantime I loaded My FS X and fired it up. I attempted to register it but Microsoft would not let me register it because it was on a second computer. So, I removed FS X from my new computer and waited. When My new Flight Simulator arrived I loaded it up. All 10 disks. I flew it for 3 or 4 weeks and got tired of having to insert disk 1 in order to fly. So, I removed my new Flight Simulator from my new Computer. I then downloaded another Flight Simulator from the Microsoft Store. I flew it for a while until I got into trouble with an Update. A Microsoft TEC fixed the problem but I had to reinstall the program. When the TEC fixed my problem he also moved my community folder to the the location listed below. C:\Flight simulator\community (EMPTY) ......................... \Official\ Onestore (DATA) (132 GB) Where ever the base program is , I don't know but I do know it is not that big. Last week a new update problem appeared and I spent around 4 or 5 hours trying to figure it out. What the heck, I removed the program and reinstalled it. The program was 90.5 GB so it took me 9.5 hours to reload ( 10 GB\hr ). That fixed my problem. I also had to install all the stuff from the Content Manager 59.5 GB. When I look at the properties for the C drive there is 7.5 GB free space out of a total of 496 GB. I figure that there is around 150 GB to 250 GB free space missing, perhaps more. I suspect that a bunch free space got lost during all that reinstalling and I don't know what to about. If I don't resolve this issue, sooner or later I will be out of memory all together. Then I will be in deep you know what. VFRguy
  5. Great video That kind of validates what I said. I noticed this guy has a lot of other videos. Those videos are geared toward the novice who needs information on how to perform some of the more simple tasks. A lot of simple things add up to bigger things. A lot of videos seem to ignore this reasoning and get into the bigger things from the start and make my head spin. That's great if you already know the little, simple things but not so much for guys like me. I added this guy to my Favorites list. THANKS VFRguy
  6. I have been fooling around with the “.PLN” file. I first noticed that when you open the .PLN file rather than the .FLT file you have much more flexibility. You can change to any of your planes that you have by changing your plane in the plane selection box and reloading the file. I liked that. As far as I know, that is not possible with the .FLT file. You are stuck with the plane that you built the flight with. The flight plan itself is more useful although I don't know exactly how that works, yet. I am pretty sure you can change things around all you want. It seems a little odd to me that you need two files. Why not combine all the functions into one file? I guess they have a reason or they would have done it already. I have a feeling that that the .PLN file is going to be my file of choice in the days to come. Is there ever a time when you need to open the .FLT file rather than the .PLN? Looking forward to your thoughts. VFRguy
  7. Opened FS Then it says “A new mandatory update is available. Please update Microsoft Flight simulator in the Microsoft store before launching” I click OK. Then a Microsoft Store window opens up that says “Error”. It says see details with code 0x80073D26. It then shows the many reports with this code but it does not say what to do about it. I went to “ help.microsofr.com” to talk to a support tec but it never would connect me to a real person. It just gave me the run around. Considering the dozens of reports I'm hoping that someone at FlightSim.com will have an answer to this problem. Sorry I missed that post msfs 2020 will not start after 5/25/21 update But I am still confused about what exactly to do about it.
  8. How about guys like me? I know very little but I am learning something new quite often. I know that I have no business fiddling around with those files and folders. So for now, I think it would be best if I used the Marketplace for my shopping. And as far as making my computer run better and faster, well, someone else will have to worry about that. Lord knows I have many many many things better to do with MSFS than gimp around with files. It would nice to know how to do that stuff but for now, I'll just leave it all with you guys and watch from the background. And put in my 1.5 cents worth from time to time. VFRguy PS You guys scare me. Thank you JohnJohn, I will file that away under things to do. I mean it.
  9. THANKS I figured that something like that is what happened. My first clue was that I still had all 30 planes. I did not realize until yesterday when I was snooping around the Marketplace that I had all the stuff that I paid for. I thought that that I will have to forget that first program that I bought from EBAY.
  10. The following is a chain of events that leads me to wonder if I “OWNED” to much, causing a conflict. 1. Purchased MICROSOFT FLIGHT SIMULATOR PREMIUM DELUXE 10 disk version from EBAY and installed. 2. Unhappy with the fact that I needed to insert disk 1 to run sim. 3. Uninstalled same. 4. Downloaded MICROSOFT FLIGHT SIMULATOR standard version from MICROSOFT STORE and installed. 5. Happy and flying. 6. Ran into problems with update 1.16.2.0 and a Microsoft Tec Fixed it. (just saying) 7. I thought that I got rid of the 10 disk version. 8. In the sim I browsed WELCOME/MARKETPLACE/FULL CATALOG/OWNED/YES. 9. There I found these 10 items. 1. Amphibious Ulterligh-flying boat. 2. Aviators Club Livery 3. MICROSOFT FLIGHT SIMULATOR Deluxe Upgrade 4. MICROSOFT FLIGHT SIMULATOR Premium Upgrade 5. MICROSOFT FLIGHT SIMULATOR Premium Deluxe Upgrade 6. EDLP Paderbom-Lippstat Airport 7. World Update I: Japan 8. World Update II: USA 9. World Update III: United Kingdom 10. World Update IV: France,Belgium They all showed “OWNED” and ”INSTALLED”. While studying items 3, 4 and 5, it solved a couple of mysteries for me. However, there seems to be an overlap. I think some of the files are duplicated. If that is so, is that a problem? I have not noticed any problems. The only things that I ever Paid for were MICROSOFT FLIGHT SIMULATOR PREMIUM DELUXE and MICROSOFT FLIGHT SIMULATOR STANDERD. Yet there are 3 upgrades. I don't know what is going. I did not consider those two programs that I bought upgrades. VFRguy
  11. OH Really! I was wondering about that Two files thing. I even did a little post on the matter. I need to study your post a little closer and figure out the ropes. I have that flight plan filed as a .FLT file and it also made a .PLN file. Is that the .PLN file you are talking about or another one? . . Also I plan to make that flight later today. Should be fun. VFRguy PS. Where do you keep your custom .PLN folder?
  12. Holly Smokes. Grade School stuff. I was blind to the keyword “ADD”. It took me around 6 minutes to build the flight plan below. VANCE AFB, HENNESSEY, KINGFISHER, OKARCHE, HARMON, PELLER FARM, EL RENO, PAGE (MY SOLO AIRPORT), WILL ROGERS, DOWNTOWN, TINKER AFB, WILLEY POST, SUNDANCE (MY AT6 TEXAN FLIGHT), GUTHRIE, STILLWATER PERRY, RINGWOOD, AND BACK TO VANCE AFB. Take away the two Air Force bases, Stillwater and Will Rogers. I have flown this rout in real life. One big loop. I was afraid to fly into Will Rogers. VFRguy
  13. THANKS Looks great and I will try it out. As usual, something is hard until you learn to do it then it will have been easy all along. Thanks again
  14. I have been trying and cant make it work.
  15. Is it possible to build a flight plan with multiple stages? Depart from point A, arrive at point B and not land, then fly on to point C and not land, and on to point D and E? Or, land at each point and then take off to the next point and land there and so on?
  16. Today I got up at 4 AM and jumped into my DA 62 and transported myself and my airplane over to Freiburg Germany. That is a good jumping off spot if you want to fly up the Rhine river. The plan is to fly all the way up to Amsterdam looking for castles. I chose the DA62 because it is about 35 MPH slower than my beloved Baron and I like the autopilot better. I have limited understanding of the autopilot. I will be flying at 1000 AGL and I need to change course a lot. It is easy for me to get confused without some sort of audio warning for switching on and off the autopilot and the Baron does not have that. I know the castles are there, I have seen them. Back in the late 60's my Air Force uncle and I spent 7 days driving up that river (more or less) and we saw several castles. Could be the best 7 days I ever had. Back In those days the Germans loved the Americans and they all treated us great. I don't know about today. We spent our time rubbernecking, drinking the greatest beer in the world and eating the finest food ever. Before our trip to Germany we spent 3 days over in the London area. The Brits are stuffy and I didn't like their beer very much and I hated their food. They would do well to spend some time in Germany learn how to drink beer and cook and have a good time. So, I flew about 175 miles (clicks) north. I saw lots of nice stuff but no castles. If any were there I must have flown right past them. Time for a change. I am going to finish my trip up the Rhine to Amsterdam. There is a lot more there than just castles. It is going to be a fun trip. And after that I am going to use my Ultralight and the World Map to pick out POI's and transport myself and my aircraft to those places of interest. I used the BING tool and did a search. I now have a list of places and things to see. Couple that with the World Map POI's and I should be able to get around ok. VFRguy
  17. Well, I'm fat and happy with the way things are now. I don't want to rock that boat too much. No telling what will happen. My plan was to upgrade if I felt the need. With those 6 free uploads and what ever is coming down the road plus my extra airplanes I think it would be pointless. VFRguy
  18. I spent a year wondering if I really wanted this new Flight Simulator. I had a run of the mill computer and was pretty sure that I would need a new and better one. I think I paid 6 or 7 hundred dollars for it. It ran FS10 just fine as long as I did not max out all the options. I understood the program good enough. One day back in March lady Luck came my way. That day I looked at my Bank account and, WHAMO, $1,400.00 just appeared in my account. I thought OK, I can get a pretty good computer for $1,400. One problem solved. The next problem was to figured out which of the 3 FS options to buy. At first I picked The standard option, I could upgrade later. IN FS 10 I flew the Baron 58 on over 90 percent of my flights. I love that plane. It has good flying characteristics and I could put it down on the runway at any point I wanted. If I was to buy the new FS it would have to include the Baron. I made that a deal breaker. I found out that the Baron is only in the upgrade. OK, I will skip the PREMIUM and go with the PREMIUM DELUXE. I am OLD SCHOOL. I want the disk version. All my problems are solved, The new computer has arrived and FS is ordered. First BUMMER. After I ordered the disk version I found out the order will come from the UK in 4 weeks. (it took 3 weeks) Second BUMMER. After several hours, the program got loaded and I put all the disks back in their fine looking box and I fired it up. As soon as clicked on the icon, a message came on screen and said …............INSERT DISK ONE. I thought that kind of crap went away last century. I put up with that BS for 3 weeks. My mind was getting dizzy with anger. I ripped that G D program out of my computer, clicked on the Microsoft Store and downloaded the standard version of MSFS despite the fact that the standard version does not have my beloved BARON 58. One sweet thing came out of this mess. When I removed the disk version all of the airplanes somehow did not get removed. I still have all 30 which include the BARON. VFRguy
  19. Sorry about those missing words. It was too late to anything about it when I noticed the errs'.
  20. So instead of trying to find HOLYWOOD signs I decided to take my Ultralight over to Monument Valley and look for John Wayne. While I was there I was flying around of those bigger monuments. I figured it would fun if I were to land on one. The one that I selected was long an narrow with a fairly flat top. The landing went just fine but when I came to a stop I started sliding backwards. It wasn't as level as I thought. I added full power and managed to get on some level ground. The take off was easy. Just like falling off a log. VFRguy
  21. Sorry about that. I would delete it if I could. I couldn't find it also, however I am taking a cautious approach on this subject. I get into too much trouble by spouting off before I have all the facts. VFRguy.
  22. HELLO MAXsenna What did you mean by "it's there by default"? I'm talking about the HOLLYWOOD sign post. VFRguy
  23. I took a rubberneck tour around Washington DC in my new Ultralight and I flew low and slow. I find that using an Ultralight is a good way to go site seeing. I visited all the POI's and then just flew around. If something is pretty far away you can always SLEW. Then I went to London and flew From Heathrow, down the river, to London City airport. There is a lot to see over there and it will take several trips to get my fill. I then went back to the US to New York. JFK to Laguardia to north NYC to Central Park and down to The Broadway Tower. I have always wondered why the Chrysler building was not shown, considering the history that the two buildings have together. Then down the East river and around to fly under that great bridge that we all love so well. Then on to visit that pretty lady and unfortunately, I clipped her right arm and crashed into the the river. VFRguy
  24. OK, I decided to buy that AMPHIBIOUS UTRALIGHT FLYING AIRCRAFT from the Marketplace at $9.49. It would not be a huge lost if I hated it. My first test flight was at London. I took off from Heathrow and as I started to climb the plane started to bounce up and down like a roller coaster. I thought, here we go again, another problem that I don't need. I eased up on the control stick and fiddled around with the trim. Soon I had every thing under control. The plane was flying just fine. I didn't realize just how far from town the airport was. At these low speeds it will take for ever to get to the middle of town. Thank you SLEW function. I followed the river going to each POI until I got to the other side of town. The slow speed of that little plane made it possible to take in the sites without just speeding by. Even the Piper Cub could not do the job as well. I was pleased. VFRguy By the way, I prefer to call the SLEW function " WARP DRIVE" PS. I was surprised to find out that the thing had trim control.
