  1. If I could trade one item from FS20 for one item from FSX it would be the VFR MAP. I did not know how much I liked the FSX VFR MAP until I moved to FS20. VFRguy
  2. Just as well. Last night I was gimping around in that area when a warning appeared and said my package was out of date and that I have been logged off. I saw that warning before when I got myself in big trouble. I quickly put things back the way they were before, rebooted my computer and fired up FS to see if I still could fly. Things looked good and for a better check I flew a flight pan from Norman Oklahoma to Wichita Kansas. All is well. That ends my fooling around with Rolling Cache.
  3. I flew from Norman Oklahoma to the Beech Factory in Wichita Kansas. I had an appointment to have my Beloved Baron repainted in the colors of FlightSim.com. I would show you the new colors but I have yet to master the art of photography with this sim. Not a whole lot to see in Oklahoma. Just miles of flat country. You have to travel to the south east part and a few other spots to see anything close to what we call mountains and other people call hills. I flew a 172 all over Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas in real life in the 80’s and now I am recreating some of those flights in FS20. I made 10 touch and goes on this trip with only 2 or 3 bounces. The trip was at 2000 ft. I lifted off 12 AM and somehow it was really bright outside as though it was High Noon. VFRguy
  4. If you cut off the panhandle of Oklahoma leaving the rest to form one big square, that is the area that I do 60% of my flying. Sounds like that might be useful for me. You think?
  5. To HBWJr24 I really don’t think I am qualified to give advise. I bought the Premium Deluxe version (10 disk) from EBAY. I installed it with no problems. I registered it with no problems. I flew it with no problems. I HATED it because I had to insert Disk #1 before each time I wanted to fly. I uninstalled it. I bought the standard version from the Microsoft Store. I downloaded it with no problems. I installed it with no problems. I registered it with no problems. I flew it with no problems. Like you at first I thought that you had to pay a fee to XBOX. NOT TRUE. True, I did have problems but they had nothing to do with what we are talking about now. The Forum guys will be glad to help you with any issues that you may have. They can at least point you in the right direction. They are nice guys. The things I say must be taken with at least two grains of salt. VFRguy
  6. The Cirrus SR22 went through 3 times OK at full speed. My beloved Baron tried 3 times at slower speeds was a NO GO.
  7. Well at least I know where to pick up some extra memory if I need some.
  8. I just did it in a Cirrus SR22 in full throttle. I don't know what to say.
  9. I must be doing something wrong. I now know it can be done. TBM?
  10. I have been trying to fly under that very tall tower over in Paris. I had to configure the plane to the Superman mode to prevent the flight from coming to an end when I crash. I come in from the grassy side (wheels up) and lined up really good. I hit the opening with plenty of space all around. Just as I get directly under I hear a really bad sound. The plane is forced to the ground with the wheels extended and I exit the other side bouncing around and finally jump into the air. I have tried it with my two ultralight planes with the same results. The “ARCH DE TRIUMPH” let me fly through OK. Some of the bridges let me through some will not. I found out that the Golden Gate has a small window to fly through. I guess the other bridges have a small window as well (or else I am a very poor pilot). I like Under Flights because you get away with something that would send you to jail in real life. People have been flying under things since day one. They are fun. I also like buzzing cars and trucks. Scares the hell out of them. 9/11 took the fun out of flying into buildings. VFRguy
  11. During my troubleshooting period one of the questions asked of me was “Do have you have Rolling Cache set up?”. I replied that I did not know and just forgot about it. Well I did have it set up and the size was 8GB. I increased it to 12GB I looked at the “MANUAL CACHE” and it was set at 0. I increased it to 12GB It said I could change it later. Since I have plenty of free space (for now) I figured what the heck, the more the better. I don’t know exactly how that stuff works but……… VFRguy
  12. THANKS Just trying to stay out of TROUBLE. . . . A few weeks ago a Microsoft TEC moved my Community folder closer to the top of “C:\”. I have since wiped out my hard drive and reinstalled WINDOWS and then reinstalled FS20 (which is the only thing in my computer now). Now my Community folder is back at the original place and I have no idea where that is. It pains me to look at that big long path to it's location. I can’t worry about it now any way. VFRguy
  13. If you have only added all the free stuff and one small ultralight from the MARKETPLACE can you NOT worry about the Community folder?
  14. Thanks I could not remember their name at 4 AM. I guess that explains the nice airports.
  15. I got up at 04:00 AM today (when you get old that’s what you do). I fired up my FS and found a group of islands just off the NW coast of Africa. All of the larger islands had one major airport. I picked 7 of those islands and made a Flight Plan. I don’t know what the name of those islands are so I named the plan “GCLA to GCRR”. It was a com clear day, almost like it was 12 noon. I jumped in my Beloved Baron and found that my copilot was sitting in the right seat waiting for me. I took off from GCLA, turned on the autopilot at 2600 ft. The islands ares nice looking with plenty of mountains. I had to ascend to 6000 feet to clear them. A lot of valleys and villages and I enjoyed flying to each of them. I did a couple of touch and goes at each island. One thing that stood out was the airports. They were all really nice airports really top end. The parking areas were picture perfect with really nice taxi ways and long landing strips. Fly there and see for yourself. They are ease to find. VFRguy
  16. It’s been there all along. I once thought that the HOLLYWOOD sign was forgotten. I looked for it many times as I was trying to get a handle on the workings of this new Flight Simulator. I could always see the POI marker but never the sign. I even posted about it. If I remember right, a couple of other guys had the same problem. One guy posted that you could download an add on. I had to eat my words when I posted about other missing items. Like the Washington Monument, buildings in NYC and a couple of other things that I spoke about without being fully informed. I got fairly good at fooling around with things in the data section of the GENERAL OPTIONS menu. So I gave the HOLLYWOOD sign another shot. I tweaked up the data and went hunting. I found it right where it is supposed to be. In FS X the sign is up high on the ridge. In FS20 it is down below the ridge line where it belongs. VFRguy
  17. I am just glad that I had the nerve to do that procedure. turns out, It was very simple. However I lost my free word processer (OFFICE WRITER). I looked for it but I could not find it. It looks and acts like MS WORD.
  18. I did it. I went through the procedure to wipe out my hard drive and reinstall Windows. It worked great. I now have 252 GB free space. Before this procedure I had only 7 GB free space. (I was sure something was wrong). Not only that. Before the procedure it took me 9.5 hours to download the 90.5 GB main body of FS. This time it took me only 2.5 hours to download the same 90.5 GB. I think that this is absolutely GREAT GREAT GREAT news. I am very happy. VFRguy 0
  19. OK,I talked to a Microsoft TEC and he showed me a way to wipe everything from my computer and make it looked like I just walked out of the store with a new computer. I am not saying that is what I am willing to do.....NOT YET. It would not be very hard for me to get ready to do it because I only have a few things to put on a flash drive. Documents and pictures. This will be my “Last Ditch Option” (LDO) VFRguy
  20. Cancel that I just looked and I forgot to setup a restore point. However, I think MICROSOFT can reinstall Windows 10 for me. (Not sure though)
  21. I think that I could put this computer back on a DAY ONE configuration and start from scratch. Scary, but I think I could do it, if someone could convince me that it would solve the problem.
  22. My bought this computer New from MSI on March 17 2021. I uninstalled a bunch of crap that comes with new computers. I installed a word processor called "OFFICE WRITER" (FREE) and a small PUZZLE program called "JIGIDI"(FREE) and MICROSOFT FLIGHT SIMULATOR. That is all of the programs that I installed.
  23. Ran that cleaner program. Not much of a change. I guess I need to look into a second drive.
