  1. Great! That looks like the problem is solved. Thanks a lot. I guess That I would never solve this one without help. By the way. My choice of words seems to have gotten me in hot water. I will be more careful next time. VFRguy
  2. I am aware of the unlimited fuel option and I don’t like it. I miss pulling up to the pump and filling up. I watched your clip.
  3. Actually it’s been on my mind all along. Every one should know that this stuff never really goes away. I have held off talking about it because I knew that there would be a simple solution and that I should be able to find it on my own and I would not have to eat humble pie. I gave myself a chance and It did not work out. OK? I will always be thankful to those people here at FlightSim.com. and the people that respond to my post and help me out. There is also something to be said about being able to figure something out by yourself. VFRguy PS I am sorry that I wasted your time.
  4. There I was. Flying along at 2300 AGL above the Kansas country side in my Beloved Baron. Not a care in the world. Headed to Anywhere USA. Then it happened. It has happened several times before so I wasn’t surprised. I knew exactly what to do. I reached down to the keyboard and pushed the letter R. Instantly I had a full tank of gas. It’s like God said “here you go Son, you have been a good boy.” “I will give you this tank of gas.” “You don’t need to land your lazy ass at the nearest airport to get gas.” It’s not that I am a lazy ass. I’m just a dumb ass. I just can’t figure out how to get gas the normal way. It is easy to blame the Big M or come with with some other crazy excuse. We all know where the blame belongs. I have tried every way I know of but the right way. I pull up to the pump and nothing happens. I park in what I think is a parking spot. I request gas and nothing happens. Sometimes the truck will come and just sit there. I was surprised that I could not find very much on this subject. I know the solution will be some simple thing that I over looked. I gave up worrying about it long ago. After all the only thing I have to do is push the letter R. VFRguy
  5. I think I agree with everything you say which why I now do not keep my PLN files very long. They are easy to make, at least for my way of flying. I keep only four plans. Two plans for Touch and Go’s, for right and left patterns. One for JFK and one for Washington DC (just because). I find that I never repeat the same plan. This whole thing opens up old wounds which I will talk about shortly.
  6. I built a flight plan for a 620 mile flight across NW Africa. Al-Msassira to Es Senia. It has 7 legs with the first 100 mile leg ending at Menara. 60 miles of this leg crosses mountains and the 1st leg airport POI said the highest point of my flight was 7500ft. I have no doubt that the airport POI is correct but I wanted to check it out anyway. So, I configured my Beloved Baron to the SUPERMAN Mode and lifted off. I set the altitude to 7500ft. and headed for the mountains following my flight plan. When I got close to the ridge line I set the camera to just below the aircraft to get a better view of the crossing. I saw that it would be close. It soon became clear I was not doing to make it and I did a go around. This time I checked my path on the VFR Map more closely. On the approach I gave the autopilot plenty of time to settle down. My plan was turn off the autopilot just before the crossing so I could climb up if needed. If every thing is steady when the autopilot is turned off there will be no change in attitude. The approach was fine and steady, hard to tell if I was going to make it. Just as I crossed the ridge I bottomed out. So close, 1 more try. On my next approach when I turned off the autopilot I added a tiny bit more lift and made it across OK. I had to be dead on with my flight path because the ground was a little bit higher on both sides. The only problem was on the 2nd try. I scratched up the bottom of my brand new FlightSim.com paint job. VFRguy
  7. EVER WONDER? Whenever I put together a flight plan I save it as a (.PLN) file. If I want to exit the flight and go kiss my girlfriend I save the file, but I can not save it as a (.PLN) file. It appears that my only option is to save it as a (.FLT) file. I wonder why. This not a big deal but I think about it every time I want to save an active flight plan. I suppose that this violates some kind of rule that some programmer thought up just to drive me crazy. VFRguy
  8. I’M CALLING IT FIXED. This AM I visited 13 airports along the NE coast USA. All 13 landings were made by me waiting until I was lower than 500 ft. AGL before I lowered the landing gear. This is my second day enjoying many landings without any problems with the landing gear. I spent two months with this nagging problem. At times I would think I was doing something wrong. Then I would dismiss that idea. I have made thousands of good landings. I should know if I am doing something wrong. I also dismissed the idea that something was wrong with the airplane itself as well as any hard program error. After being pointed toward an assignment error I dismissed several items until I finally got around to completely unassign the button #12, which was assigned to Toggle Landing Gear, and reassign it. It’s a little strange how a problem can appear to be unsolvable and when a solution is found the fix would turnout to be as simple as it gets. All you can do is ask your self “why didn’t I do that in the first place?”. VFRguy
  9. LANDING GEAR PROBLEM SOLVED ….I THINK I have 6 Joy Sticks and 1 Yoke. See listing below. About two months ago I proved that the Landing Gear problem was not with the controller. Today I posted my problem and Steve Harding gave me a few things to check and or change. I did not want to disturb My button 12 (TOGGLE GEAR) assignment just yet so I made assignments in the Key board using two keys to raise and lower the gear. I made several attempts to duplicate the problem but no success. (that was a good thing) I then unassigned the #12 button and the #11 button and assigned #11 to raise and #12 to lower the gear. I made several landings and I could not make problem appear. (again that is a good thing) I am not willing to have two buttons to raise and lower the gear. I only have 12 buttons and I need all of them. I am happy with having only one button to toggle the gear. I can work through the problem. However, I put the two buttons back the way they were with one exception. The assignment for the #12 button was originally on the left slot and I moved it to the right slot. I figured what the heck, I’ll give it a shot. I then fired up my Beloved Baron and started a bunch of Touch and Goes. The problem will usually appear on Final around 500 ft. I made made many attempts to make the problem show it’s ugly face but it never would. I then flew 15 miles at 20 feet above the ground while raising and lowering the gear. The problem appears to be gone. My best guess is that moving the assignment from the left side to the right side had no bearing on the problem. It was the fact that I unassigned and reassigned the button that did the trick. Kind of like a Mini Reboot. VFRguy ONE EA. LOGITECH G SAITEK EXTREME 3D PRO…....ACTIVE LOVE ONE EA. 10. I hear you guys. I am painfully aware of the traps that one can fall into by fiddling around with stuff you know little or nothing about. However I can not resist using that switching planes thing. I will leave the rest of that stuff alone for now. As for the landing gear problem I will tell that I made a change. I made 15 landings with the change and I did not encounter any problems. I also flew 15 or so miles at 20 ft. while toggling the gear without problems. I would tell you what change was made but I can not believe that it had anything at all to do with the problem. It is stupid to even think about the change. It will take a few days of flying before I will even think about calling it a success.
  11. I tried to post this on "SWITCHING AIRCRAFT" but the thread is closed. IT’S THE LITTLE THINGS THAT MATTER I have had very little to talk about lately. MSFS is running smoothly. So, I decided to keep my mouth shut and my eyes open to see what I can learn from flightsim.com. On several occasions I would read a post that I could use to better my flying ability. Many times I thought it would be nice to change planes without having to go back to the beginning. Then I read this article and gave it a try. It worked just fine. (I don’t want to hear from someone telling me that it is cheating) I said this before. It is the little things that mater. You add one little thing to another little thing and soon you will haves something big. From the looks of things there will many useful things to be had by turning on this developer thingie. Two birds with one stone. I have only a couple of issues that I have been toying with and I can’t decide if the problem is me or something else. (no big deal) Example: I have an issue with my beloved Baron 58. When on Final I like to hold off lowering the landing gear until around 4 or 5 hundred feet. From the ground it looks cool to see a plane coming in wheels up until the last minute. However I can’t do that because every once in a while the landing gear will attempt to lower but It slams shut and refuses to lower. No matter how much I fiddle with the assigned button #12, it some times will not lower. At 500 ft. I don’t have much time before I have to go around. I don’t seem to have this problem If I lower the gear during Base or sooner. (I’m not sure that this statement is true) The problem shows up on my other two planes (DA62, Bonanza) but not as often as the Baron. VFRguy
  12. As usual, I most likely made a stupid A.. mistake. I will fix it.
  13. Before I Assigned a key to refuel I pulled up to a pump and nothing happened. I tried to move in closer and still nothing. Since I assigned a refuel function I have yet to pull up to a pump to test that portion of refueling at the pump. I will look at the keyboard functions for requesting a fuel truck.
  14. I hope the heavy bomber and fighter pilot guys don’t think we are talking about them.
  15. As you well know, in FSX you just pulled up to the pump and it was an automatic thing from that point to get fuel. It never occurred to me to look for any Key assignment so I don’t know if there was one or not I think not.
  16. I would but the only way to change it is to have one of the Forum Cops do it for you. They have changed it once already. I wouldn’t want to over burden them.
  17. It’s really hard to avoid the temptation of pushing the button to refuel in midair. Just saying. VFRguy
  18. OK I am up and running. Had to reinstall server. All is ok Flying over Enid, Oklahoma as I speak. APP looks good Will need to make a few test flights to check this thing out. THANKS a bunch. VFRguy
  19. The server is in back ground but there is no green icon on bottom of screen
  20. I must have done something wrong The map tool still wants IP address been 15 min
  21. OK I paid my 3 bucks and downloaded FS MAP TOOL on my phone. It is setting there now wants my ip address I don't know it.
