  1. Would you like to quote some figures from reputable sources that show how many are having problems and how many are not. This argument has been going on for a long time, but I have yet to see the figures showing how many "the masses" are, and how many the "some" are. I have a bit of a scientific mind, and if I see the figures I will accept the result. Hal
  2. My recent problem was not quite the same, but similar. Here is the fix that I got from tech support. You can give it a try. It might just fis your issue. Step1. Reset Gaming Services 1. Close Microsoft Flight Simulator 2. From your computer Start menu, navigate to Settings > Apps 3. Type "Gaming" or "Services" in the search bar 4. Select Gaming Services 5. Click on Advanced options 6. Click Reset 7. Reboot the system 8. Launch Microsoft Flight Simulator" Hal
  3. I have not seen a version of FS Recorder that could render video files. The only FS Recorder programs I am familiar with will record and play back the flight, but only within the sim itself. The files are not video files. Of course, if I am wrong here, someone will correct me. You need a screen recorder to get an actual video file that can be edited and rendered to a suitable format. Hal
  4. I always did too, but one day after an update it would not run. Went back to windowed mode and it works. I may have to try full screen mode again. I sure like it better that way, as I use 3 monitors and undocking the views that are to be moved to other monitors is a pain in the behind. Hal
  5. A bit of a stab in the dark here, but worth checking. With newer versions of Windows 10, I have found that I cannot run FSX in full screen. I get the symptoms you are describing. I can run in Windowed mode. Can you get to the start screen? If so go into the settings and change it to run in windows. Hal
  6. Market Place is up and running, CRJ is downloading as I type. Thanks Hal
  7. Thanks Tim, I did see something to that effect after I posted. I have been waiting for this one. In FSX, which I still use, I have a lot of hours in the CRJ700. Hal
  8. Any update on this release date? I don't see it available in the Market Place. Thanks Hal
  9. I also updated with no issues whatsoever. Started The Sim, it showed the update available. I clicked on the update now button in the Sim and waited for it to finish. It downloaded the 9.46g update and when done I clicked on 'Continue'. Went through the normal start screens to the 'Welcome' screen. I checked the content manager as all was up to date. This was all done without exiting the Sim. It makes you wonder. Some people have major issues, and many others have no issues. If only it could work well for all. As a side note, I intend to exit the Sim and reboot the computer as a precaution only. Hal
  10. Yes, you can run both on the same computer. Hal
  11. Your are welcome Loki. I like to post any problems and the solution in case someone else has the issue. I was very surprised by how fast the support team got back to me. I emailed them back that the problem was solved and had another email within 5 minutes. Hal
  12. Just an update here. I reported this to Zendesk and just had a reply that has got me up and running again. Reply time about 1/2 hour. I will post here what I had to do to clear things up; "First, please do the following in this order: 1. Click on Start (the Windows icon in the bottom left corner of your screen) 2. Select Settings 3. Go to Update & Security 4. Stay on Windows Update 5. Click the Check for Updates button. 6. Wait until the verification is done. 7. In the Windows search bar type "Store" and open the Microsoft Store app installed on your computer 8. In the top right-hand side corner of the Microsoft Store app, click on the Arrow icon or the three-dots menu 9. Select Downloads and updates. 10 Click Get updates and Update all 11. Reboot the computer If the problem persists after that you'll need to make sure that Gaming Services is installed and running. To do so, follow the instructions below in that order. Launch Microsoft Flight Simulator" The first part on the above did not help in my case, but the second part did the trick. Thanks to all who looked to see if they could be of assistance. Hal
  13. Here is a shot of the screen when I try to launch the Sim. As you can see, it says installed on the left, but the icon will not open the Sim. I cannot open the sim from the search bar either. I can find Microsoft Flight Simulator App, but it just opens the store also. Hal
  14. Good day good people, When I double click the MSFS Icon on the desktop, it will only open the Microsoft Store Showing the Gaming Services App install option. I have installed it but the Icon will only open the Store again. Strange. It was working yesterday. Anyone else noticed this or is it just something on my system? Thanks for any suggestions. Hal
  15. avallillo Did you just want to vent, or are you actually looking for assistance? It was hard to find an actual question we could answer in the original post. Hal
  16. I have to agree with plainsman. Do not believe all the naysayers. I have had MSFS since the release in August. I have very few problems. I also have different Sims for different aircraft. My main aircraft I fly is a CRJ700. I Still use FSX when I fly it. I also have DCS with the F18 for that type of flying. I also use CH yoke and pedals in all my Flight sims. Along with the CH gear, I also have connected a Thrustmaster stick and throttle. All of this gear is connected at the same time and all of it is used in one way or another during every flight. I have it set up to the way I want it. I am still learning new things about MSFS. I use it when I want a quiet flight or when I want to relax a little while still hand flying where ever in the world I choose. I don't have to post on MSFS a lot because I have nothing to really post about. When a person is not having problems, they do not go on the forums in bunches to complain that they have nothing to complain about. My advice, if you have the hardware, try it. There is a good chance that you will like it. Hal
  17. This is a known issue. I have a thread about it here back a few pages. Don't know how to insert a link to the thread though. You will find that it only happens when you undock the window (ATC VFR map etc) to move it to another monitor. If you do not undock the window then there is no control loss. You do not have to move the window, just undock it as if you are going to move it. If you undock the window (ATC VFR map etc), just moving the mouse to the area covered by the undocked window will cause the issue. As soon as the mouse leaves the area of the window control is regained. I posted a couple of videos showing the issue in the other thread. Hal
  18. Just my opinion, but I think the Sim is a very good replication of the real thing. Great video to watch I think. Thanks for the look. Hal
  19. I spent the best part of 3 weeks trying to get the sim to run. It would load and run to set up a flight but would crash to desktop shortly after clicking on Fly. Usually no error recorded. A couple of errors referenced memory issues. Today, looking through issues in the event viewer, I discovered that my page file was way too small. I reset it to system managed and the sim runs normally now. I am in no way suggesting that everyone set the page file to system managed, just because it worked for me. The point here is that it was not the sim that was the issue, but a setting on my system. No matter how new or robust our systems are we have to check our systems if we are having issues. Sometimes it is our own system that is causing the problem. Hal
  20. Just an update to those who attempted to help. I am again up and running as of today. One month without the new Sim. Glad I still had FSX installed. Here is what I had to do today: Log out of the Microsoft Store and the Xbox app. Uninstall the Xbox app Reboot Download a new version of the Xbox app Log into Microsoft store Log into the new Xbox app Run MSFS as administrator and log in, which then downloaded the complete sim again. Then download all the extras. I did not have to make any changes to my accounts, MS Store or Xbox. Strangest thing is that I never lost any data, even though I removed the sim for a fresh install in the hopes that it would correct the issue. All my controller setting were still there, my rolling cache and my manual cache files are still all there. Took a couple of flights and things working as good as expected. Hal
