  1. Sorry if you think it is too much trouble. It only adds about 30 to 40 seconds to my start up for the flight. I wanted to give a very descriptive procedure so it could be followed easily. Hal
  2. David, Check your V-sync setting. I had the same on the initial release. I had to turn off v-sync and it has bee smooth ever since. Hal
  3. I run the sim every day for more than 3 hours at a time and have had one CTD. I have had the sim since about a week after first release. I have had some issues, but not related to CTD. My issues were answered either by Zendesk or here and was back up and running with minimal down time. None of my issues were a result of the MSFS software. It was other things that needed attention or an adjustment in the options. Hal
  4. SSP76, I am going to address the last part of your question regarding importing the plan to Little Navmap from MSFS as requested in your original post. Here are the steps that I use when working with Little Navmap. (Which is every flight) 1: I have created a folder called "MSFS Plans" (Location should be one you can remember easily. Mine are on 'One Drive') The default folder is very hard to find in a windows explorer window if you do not know the exact path. This is why I made my own folder in an easy place to find. 2: In MSFS, create your flight plan in your usual manner. 3: In MSFS, save your plan (hit space bar 2 times). In the window that opens change click save. Next window navigate to your Plan Folder. Look for 'Save as type' and change the option to .pln file. Not absolutely necessary as the .pln file will be created along with the .flt file (I do not use the .flt files). It is the .pln file that is needed. Give it a name that makes sense to you. 4: Once the plan has been saved you can the import it to Little Navmap using the next few steps. First start Little Navmap. 5: If necessary, check to see that you are connected to MSFS. (Status at the bottom of the window. 6: If necessary, check to see that the scenery library for MSFS is loaded. Click 'Scenery Library' on the menu bar at the top. The drop down menu will show the library that is currently being used. (dot beside the name) 7: If all is good so far, click on 'File' on the menu bar. Click the second option 'Open Flight Plan' 8: Navigate to the folder that you saved the flight plan in and select the plan. (This part of the process is only required the first time you go to the folder. Little Navmap remembers the location for you, as long as you do not change it.) It will bring the plan into Little Navmap as you created it. Do not worry about the message that your plan has no valid starting position. You can set that in a bit if necessary. I find I have to do this a lot in MSFS, so I make note of my starting position when I create the plan. 9: Steps 5 & 6 are only necessary once unless you make changes. I hope this is of some use to you. I make up fight plans in this manner for every flight. Hal
  5. Thanks Mike G., That worked except for one thing. I cannot get the Nav1/GPS toggle to work using a button on my yoke. It works with a click in the cockpit. I have cleared the assignment and reassigned to both a new button and the same button. All other buttons work as assigned. I know it is not the yoke or the button as they show when tested in the sim. If I search by pressing the button on the yoke it brings up the toggle Nav1/GPS assignment. Hal PS. Switched to the C172 with the Garmin 100 and the button works. But not in teh older cockpit.
  6. I got everything all downloaded fine in a few hours. Starts and runs fine. Most controls are working except for the following strange problem. I cannot operate various switches or buttons in the cockpit with the mouse or the buttons on the yoke. When I hover the mouse over the switch or button I get a description, blue haze (flashes slowly), and what looks like a reference to a game controller button. I do not think I have any AI assistance turned on. I never did before and made a flight this afternoon before I got the update. Also I do not have any game controllers connected. In the settings the yoke buttons are still bound to the correct action, but no action in the cockpit. Some switches are still functioning properly. Yoke flap switch. Heading bug adjustment switch. Push back request button. Toggle outside view button, toggle park brake. etc. Mouse wheel still scrolls in and out and mouse free look is available. Got me confused on this one. Have never seen this before. Anybody have and ideas on what I might have set incorrectly after the update? Normally I do not have any controller problems after updates. Hal
  7. The easiest way to get gas is on the ground before takeoff. Just open the interactive menu at the top The little arrow thing. Click on the weight icon and you will be able to adjust the amount of fuel in the aircraft. In my system it defaults to 50% fuel. Just adjust it to 100% or what ever you want. Hal
  8. I think the answer is: The .pln (plan file) is just that. A flight plan. Shows what you intend (plan) to do or hope to do. It can be changed or updated before loading. The .flt (flight file) is the state of the flight at the time it is created. It shows where you are, what you are doing, the state of your aircraft etc.. It is not a plan but a description of the flight as it stands at the time. My humble opinion of course. Hal
  9. This only shows on the 'other aircraft' . When I look at my own aircraft it is normal, no legs. The other person flying with me see the same thing, but in reverse. He sees my aircraft with legs hanging out and his own looks normal. Both of us are flying stock aircraft. I am flying the steam gauges version and he is flying the glass cockpit version. Funny and strange. He calls it the Fred Flintstone effect. Hal
  10. Has anyone else noticed when flying with another pilot, when you get up close you can see legs hanging out of the other aircraft. I have not checked another aircraft other than the Cessna 172. See attached video: Hal
  11. Jorgen, I have had to re-install over the past 12 months and the online registration worked fine. So I believe the servers are still working. Hal
  12. The only time you can get the option to save a .pln file is in the world map flight creation screen at the time of the flight creation. After that your only option is the .flt file. Of course you can create the .pln file in other software that can create plans for MSFS. The default option in MSFS is to save as the .flt file. This also creates the .pln file. You can choose to change the save to a .pln file in the drop down window. This saves only the .pln file. Another point here. Contrary to what some say, you do not have to have a departure airport to create a valid plan. You can click anywhere on the map and set that point as departure then choose an arrival airport or click another spot on the map and set as arrival. This is useful for setting up landing challenges or any other thing you might want to practice. I have set up a folder to save my plans in and have it stored on OneDrive. You do not have to use the default. Only drawback is that you have to navigate to your custom folder to save & load. Hope some of this info is of use. Hal
  13. I am glad you found it useful. Fly for fun and fly safe. Hal
  14. Have a look at this video I found. Sums it up pretty well, I think Hal
  15. I actually store mine on the cloud OneDrive. But you can create a folder where ever is suitable for you. Mine is just called MSFS Plans. You do have to navigate to the folder every time you load or save, but it is not so bad. In FSX saving flight plans was done automatically. In MSFS this is not required, and you have to remember to save them if you think you might want them later. What I like about the .pln files is that you can load and modify them all you want, I have never used the .flt files as yet. Mostly because I do not really understand them. Hal
  16. Great to see. Once done planning you can save the flight to fly again sometime. After completing yo will see a button for Load/save at the bottom of the screen. Just be sure to save it as a .PLN and not a .FLT. You will have to set this in the save window/ I have a custom folder for my plans. I just called it MSFS Plans. I save all my plans there. Once you get the feel for it you will find it is very versatile. Just glad it is working for you. Happy flying. Hal
  17. You are welcome. Always glad to help when I can. Just remember step 3. You have to zoom in to see the name of the airport or your waypoint will be called Custom. You can add custom waypoints at random locations as above. Hal
  18. You can add as many waypoints to your flight plan as desired. If they are airports, you can land , (eat, fuel up or sight see) then take off for the next leg of the flight. To do this: 1) Enter your Departure airport 2) Enter your arrival airport. This will give yo a straight line on the planning map. Any spots in between can be added as follows 3) Zoom in enough to see the name of the airport you want to add. When you can see the name click on it. 4) You will see the option to ADD. Click this option and it adds it to the flight plan. You can land or just fly over. 5) Repeat step four to your hearts content. See image Hal
  19. Sorry but you have not given enough information for anyone to give you help. Here is what I got doing a little search: "Error 1722 can be caused by the following: Corrupted or incomplete installation of Windows Installer software. Corruption on Windows registry. Virus or malware infection. Another app or program that might have deleted Windows Installer files. Since HP mentioned that it might be compatibility issue, follow the methods below and see if it will help resolve the issue:" Do a search for "Error 1722" and see what you find. Hal
  20. I, also, have never moved anything out of the community folder before an update. I have had no issues with the items installed there. Hal
  21. I don't recall bashing anyone. I simply wanted to know your source or numbers for your statements. And you should not make comments about people that you don't know (bashing strangers). Also, you have no idea what my knowledge level is regarding computers. I may not be up to the standard you think you are at, but I know from years of writing computer code that the only thing constant in computing is the program code. Everyone running a particular piece of software is using the same program code. The variables are the hardware and the user. The software is not responsible for differences or faults in the hardware or the users. I do read the forums, but you are forgetting something that I would imagine describes you as well as a lot of others. You must own many products that are in some way associated with forums. Is it your policy to go onto those forums and tell how good things work for you? Yes, I run MSFS. No, it is not perfect on my system, but it is the same program code that everyone else runs, problems or not. I just do not think, and my opinion only, that the vast majority of users are having the level of problems that you think they are. If your are tired of reading the posts, why do you read them? Hal
