  1. stusue, Did you by any chance join a group flight. I have had those symptoms after being in a group and the leader of the group leaves before you do. What has to happen in a group situation is, the leader has to be the last to leave. Anyone that remains in the group after the leader leaves is stuck with the settings used during the group involvement. If this is your case, get someone to invite you to join a group. Accept the invitation, then immediately leave that group. You should be clear no to change the setting (time & weather) to suit. Hope this helps. I no longer join group as they are not necessary for multiplayer flights. Hal
  2. Update, I have installed FSX and Acceleration, no issues encountered in the installation. I just now have to get all my config files, add on scenery, log book file etc. restored from backup. I am currently having an old issue that is not exactly related. Since installing the Sim, I installed video editing software. I have always found that editing software interferes with the operation of the optical drives. Something to do with the disk burning parts of the editing software. For the past 2 - 3 hours I have been watching the DVD drive try to read the installation disks that I used Dec 24. I first noticed this issue years ago when I installed one burning software (name withheld). The exact problem I have right now. Removed said software and things went back to normal. Then purchased a video editing software, installed it, and the problem returned. It had burning capabilities. I forgot to install the SDK's when I did the initial install. No I am trying to install them (it). Bottom line is the Sim is working great, just need to finish the set-up. Hal
  3. Thanks. It appears to be working fine. Will know better after a week or two. Did a stream on twitch tonight to start balancing the audio for my streams. I have a minor bit of screen tearing when panning inside the cockpit. Working on eliminating that now. Found a few suggestions that worked for others, so hopefully one will work for me also. Merry Christmas Hal I now have MSFS and FSX up and running.
  4. Update on the computer. The new sim computer is up and running. Had my first flight on it last night. For those that mentioned it, the computer arrived equipped exactly as promised. Here is what I did before firing it up: 1) It shipped with a 256g NVMe m.2 drive for the operation system. I had a 1t NVMe m.2 that I was using in the last computer that I removed and reformatted for a data drive. I installed this in the 2nd m.2 drive slot to install my apps on. 2) I removed the 7200rpm 1t HD and replaced it with a 1t Sata SSD. (Will use it elsewhere) 3) I installed a 2nd 1t SSD in the available expansion spot. 4) I will be installing externally a 1t SSD This gives me a computer that is completely solid state. Today I set up the computer and installed MSFS Premium Version. After all items installed I went for a GA flight. I actually flew the last flight plan I used before the failure. Was a very enjoyable time, as I had not flown since Nov 11/21. On good thing I can say is that I did not lose any of my control settings (I have 4 controllers connected plus the keyboard and mouse.) or any entries in my log book. Since this data is stored on the cloud it was still there waiting. This sim even found my Manual cache stored on one of the SSD's. I have to say that Dell, Alienware, looked after me. It was somewhat longer that I expected, but the result is everything I could expect and much more on top. For those who commented, thank you for your interest and contributions. Happy camper here back in the air again. Hal
  5. My original unit arrived as ordered 20 months ago. The unit coming now is a no charge warranty replacement. The only problem I have with Dell is there high prices for upgrade parts. Other than that they have been great when issues arise. I purchased the extended warranty and premium support package. Seemed a bit pricey at the time but looking back now it was a bargain. And I will definitely be keeping this thread up to date. Hal
  6. Thanks for the comments, I have never really been a FPS watcher. I go by what I see on the monitor. I believe I had it locked at 30 fps but cannot confirm that now. I was running with 3 monitors attached. One for the sim (3 if FSX), one had Little Navmap and Google earth Pro, and the third had my streaming software and any other windows from the Sim that I had open. When I was streaming I had the following running on the computer: 1) The Flight sim - 2020 or FSX, (When running FSX I used the 3 monitors for FSX. Center and right monitor is what I flew on, the left monitor was what I streamed. Switching between cockpit and outside view. Little Navmap was networked to a second computer.) 2) OBS streaming software. 3) Little Navmap 4) Google earth Pro. 5) Discord I believe that when streaming I was showing about 35 - 50% CPU usage, and 100% GPU usage. I will report in this thread about the performance of the new system. A good friend of mine, who was and is one of the testers, tells me the system should give me some great surprises. He really likes the 3080 ti and the DDR5 memory. Right now I am thinking that all drives in the new system will be SSD. No mechanical drives. I have room for 2 NVME drives, 1 3.5, and 1 2.5. The system comes with a 7200RPM drive that I am thinking to swap out for a 1T SSD. Good thing is I have all this hardware here out of the old system. Thanks again for the comments. I will be reporting back again. Hal
  7. Good day from PEI Canada, The Alienware in my signature suffered a motherboard failure (so Dell says), so under my warranty they are building me a complete new system. It seems they cannot get a motherboard for my system. I will be adding, once it gets here, a second NVMe M.2 1t and 1 SSD 1t. For now I am going to live with the 16G of DDR5 until the price drops a little. This is quite an upgrade from the original and is being covered 100% by Alienware. Looking forward to getting it here about the middle of December. Hal
  8. Thank you for the reply. You are correct, every system and it's environment is different. This I am quite aware of. Regardless of any other person's experience, I could very well face a different experience. But, I now know that the program will work on W11 given the right setup. I can work from there. Hal
  9. gsnde, Thank you. That is the information I was hoping to get. I have had zero issues with FSX on W10, but as I stated the new computer is likely to have W11. Thanks again Hal
  10. Good day good flight sim people. My sim computer (specs in sig) died and I will be getting a new one under warranty (long story). I am sure it will arrive with Windows 11 installed and was wondering if it has been tried yet. I will not know the rest of the computer specs until it is about ready to ship. If so are there any things that need to be done prior to the installation. I will be installing FSX Gold disc version if possible. I am aware of the sticky at the top of the forum. Thanks for any thoughts Hal
  11. Ron136, Have you recently joined a group in the sim? If you join a group and the creator of the group leaves it before you do you are stuck with the settings that were in effect at the time. I have had this happen a couple of times, now I do not join groups. If you are in this situation you can get out of it by having a friend invite you to a group. Once you join, then leave the group right away. This should give you the ability to change your settings again. Those that create groups must stay in the group until all have left before exiting themselves, otherwise the people left cannot change the settings in their sim. Hope this helps. Hal
  12. I am not Ann Landers of Flightsim, but I am in the same canoe. My motherboard in my Flightsim computer died and I too am without my necessary fix of daily flying. Help is on the way, but as of right now no time frame is available. The good part is it being covered under warranty. So, that makes two of us that need suggestions. Hal
  13. Mike, Not really going to be of any assistance I am afraid. I just tried this on my setup and everything is working normal. I can zoom in and out, as well as scroll. I don't normally use the VFR map because I use Little Navmap on one of my 3 monitors. I set my test up with the main sim screen on my center monitor and the VFR map on both my left and right monitors. I could zoom and scroll every time. Sorry. I am thinking that it is not related to the sim itself, but rather something in your system environment. Hal
  14. I got this response from usb777 a while back: "I had the same issue. Go into General Options-Accessibility-Cockpit Interaction-System change from lock to Legacy I believed is what changed that ." This seems to be the solution. Hal
  15. Good day good people, Is there anyone doing custom paints for MSFS 2020 Please PM me for details. Hal
  16. You are correct Frank, shouldn't be like this at all. But it is what it is. I am just glad that it has worked for so many. Hal
  17. Good news, I am up and running again. Downloading the World update as I type. Version number 1.19..8.0 Thanks to all who replied with suggestions. Hal
  18. Update, I am currently downloading what I believe to be the update. (2.67g) Found a thread on Zendesk with the following steps: Their suggested steps: 1. Go to the Microsoft Store and search for the ‘Xbox’ App. 2. Download the ‘Xbox’ App and click ‘Launch’. 3. Once the Xbox App is running, go back to the Microsoft Store to ‘Downloads and Updates’ and click ‘Get Updates’ The MSFS update should start to download. Note In step 3 I did not go back to the store. I tried I do not remember the complete steps in the app that I clicked. Was not really expecting it to work. But I know it was not hidden there. Easy to find the update. There is a Store button in the Xbox app. I used that. I will post when it is done to let you know if it worked or not. Hal Spelling corrections/
  19. I had a suggestion from Tiger1962 but no joy yet. I am on the east coast of Canada. Prince Edward Island. Only reason I was really wanting it is I stream every day about noon my time. Not happening today that is for sure. Stupid me forgot that it was update day and didn't start trying until 30 minutes before going live. I will keep you posted, especially if I get a good result. Hal
  20. Thanks for the reply Tim, I followed your steps but did not get a preview video, just the image showing it installed and a play button. Hal
  21. What you described above is my normal procedure. Go to the sim get redirected to the store. This has always worked up until today. I have, since posting, done both a repair and a reset but no joy yet. I am hoping I do not have to do a complete reinstall. The store now shows that the sim was modified minutes ago, but the version is 1.18.15.0 which is not the current version. Thank for your reply. I am never insulted by someone's advise by the way, Hal
  22. Good day good people, I have the sim telling me a mandatory update via the store is required. Click on OK and it opens the store and closes the sim. This is normal. Problem is the store tells me I am good to go, everything is up to date. Has anyone else seen this issue and got by it? if so what was your method? What I have tried: Log out of the store and reboot. Log back into the store. Look for updates. Again it says none. I have done this numerous times. Hal
