  1. That is BECAUSE drivers are a WINDOWS program(s) and not a FS2020 program. Therefore it BELONGS on the C drive at the default location. So, essentially, you have no option as install of Windows drivers should be in default location. You may THINK you have options but you don't. Chuck B Napamule
  2. Might we consider this: LOD of model in FS9 -vs- LOD of model in FSX (especially when used as AI)? AI Optimizer might fix? Hi-Mem Fix ALONE might not do it? Reload (of anything) might not do it? Chuck B Napamule
  3. If you formated your hard drive then you should NOT have any programs anywhere and there should not be a conflict with any add ons, or other programs. They are not installed until you install FSX. If you installed to 'Program Files' then re-format your hard drive. Start over in other words. Create a NEW FOLDER under 'C'. Install to that folder. Sim will create all the folders that go with the Sim. But you will have sim files in other WINDOWS folders which the Sim needs to function with Windows. Re-Boot PC after you finish install of Sim. Fly the sim for a few minutes. Change planes, etc as a test. Set weather and you default flight. Then Re-Boot your PC. THEN and only then can you start to do add-ons, one at a time, with a re-boot of Sim after each install. You must be meticulos with Windows as it is very dependent on Registry Entries so as to make the Sim run smooth. Windows will always try to do updates of all/any files you have like video drivers for your video card, etc. Do your own updates. Let Windows only update vital Securtiy features for Windows. Good luck. Chuck B Napamule
  4. Push the F5 key to 'refresh'. Your browser will refresh and the '2' should be gone.
  5. 'C:\FSX' is a PATH name. 'FSX' is a FOLDER name. AFTER you create 'New Folder' by right click when you are at 'C:' you will have created a new FOLDER with a name of 'FSX' and therefore 'C:\FSX' will be the PATH to that folder. Terminology. Terminology. Terminology. Chuck B Napamule

  7. You don't need any drivers (there are not any anyway). Just plug it into a USB port and Windows should recognize it. If it doesn't try another USB port. I use the one in front (and I unplug it after I finish flying). Then I plug it in before I start Flight Sim and it gets recognized. When I start Sim the Sim will 'take over' as it remembers prior setup / assignments. If you plug it into a powered USB HUB it might not work. And if you go look there will be a question mark. Click on that question mark. Then it might recognize it. It will then be listed. Click on it and then go do setup / assignments. Once you do it once the Sim will remember it. You can unplug it and when you plug it in Windows will recognize. Start sim and IT should 'remember' it. Keep trying. Chuck B Napamule
  8. It's important to learn to use pitch trim ALONG WITH use of power (not at idle). Takes practice. Chuck B Napamule
  9. They say: Time flys when you are having fun. It's been 9 years (more or less). Here is what was on 'Outer Marker' forum ('Where is Andrew Herd') on July 27, 2011 - from Nels Anderson: ''Andrew Herd "retired" from writing flightsim related articles in order to write a book. Andrew is one of the most amazing people I've ever met. In addition to his obvious love for flight simulation he is also a licensed pilot, a medical doctor and and a world class expert on fly fishing, which is the subject of his latest book (he's actually written a number of books over the years):'' So welcome back. Lots of us sticking with (and some new simmers going with) FS2004 (FS9) *** due to FS2020 not working as expected *** so you will have plenty to do. So don't plan on 'resting' around here (hehe).
  10. The MS Sidewinder sticks are all USB and not AC powered. You will get 5 volts at the USB port which is all the voltage it needs to operate. This will take care of the power requirement. The USB connection also has pins for DATA transmission, which it needs to function with Windows and thus Flight Sim. That is why you did not find anything on Google search - there is no such thing as AC powered joystick! We are used to using a power adoptor with USB slot for charging our cell phones, cameras, etc. That is a totally different scenario. Not with a USB joystick. There are no batteries in the joy. You would fry your joystick if you plugged it into a CHARGING AC adoptor. So don't do that. Chuck B Napamule
  11. I need to know: Did you (consciencely) use POSITIVE PITCH TRIM (as much as required!) on all your approaches? They were all perfect is why I ask. Some simmers don't 'believe' the difference pitch trim makes on doing perfect approach (and..perfect result: ie: perfect landing). Super demo video. Chuck B Napamule
  12. I have a USB Sidewinder 2 and Windows 7. No drivers are needed. I plug it into the front USB port. I start Sim (I have used this joy in FS98, FS2k2, FS9 and FSX Accel) then I plug it in. When I touch it the throttle will go FULL (so be ready to hit F1 (cut off)). I calibrate it in Sim. I also adjust the sensetivity with zero null. I have 'auto rudder' OFF. When I finish with Sim I unplug it. So not sure what gives with your set up. Perhaps try another USB port? Good luck. Chuck B Napamule
  13. You can cycle thru cockpit views available by pressing the Q key. It might not be called 'mini panel' anymore but one of the views might serve the same purpose. Chuck B Napamule
  14. Quote: '..Windows (10 & update) setting ... power saving on USB ports..'. That has to be the most IGNORANT SH.T anyone could ever imagine an OS would do! Are you kidding me? Microsoft you SUCK! Chuck B Napamule
  15. To adjust the inital view in VC you go to aircraft cfg's (Views) section, then look at 'eyepoint=xxx, xxx, xxx' and change the xxx's to distance (from ref datum) in feet (Long, Lat, Vert). Trial & error may be called for. Reload airplane to see the changes. Chuck B Napamule
  16. Or substitute a 'compatible' (ie: aircraft type/model) panel from another aircraft. Just be sure that the panel name (panel=xxx) matches or it won't show. Nice specs - that is ALL i want for Christmas (i7 9700K). Chuck B Napamule
  17. You change the CoG that much and it should be jumping and spinning all over the place upon loading. You can't do that and have it even sit. I gather you did not try it after change of CoG. Bogus. Chuck B Napamule
  18. I vote for 'MX' (Microsoft X(Box)). Or 'mx' if you are lazy to push the Cap key. Or maybe you want to get fancy, like 'MAX' (Microsoft Asobo X(Box)). Or 'MAS' (Microsoft Asobo Simulator). 'Mas' in Spanish means 'More'. Or how about 'MasX' (more X)? Chuck B Napamule
  19. I have a i7 2600k that runs at 3.5 ghz BUT will auto throttle up to 3.87 ghz. With 16 gb low latency ram and a decent video card I imagine I could run FS2020 in moderate settings if I turn off some 'stuff' (eye candy). But I am thinking of an i7 9700k for the future. What I like abou the i7's is that they run cool. So with liquid cooling moderate overclocking is very possible. Bottom line: All it takes is money. Chuck B Napamule
  20. How? I spent 6 hrs downloading FS2020, to an external drive, and then dis-connected it - and there it sits! That's how. HA! Chuck B Napamule
  21. Glad to help. Mr Yamamoto has moved his 'office' to http://www.FSEconomy.com . I expect you will find his other models (links to RiKoo?) at that site. And this is a FS9 port over. Did not install. So there might be a glitch or prop issue-I don't know. Hope not. Cheers. Chuck B Napamule
  22. I found one here at FSCom that you can use. Not the original uploaded model, by Daisuke Yamamoto, but it should work ok. File name is: fc119sca.zip, 29 mb, March 2008. Also found one at: https://www.rikoooo.com/downloads/viewdownload/51/246. This one is also 'ok'. Chuck B Napamule
  23. Bush in California / Nevada? Haha. There ain't none that can be called 'bush' strips. Try Montana / Idaho. You will find plenty there. Go find FSX bush missions, note the ICAO / Names, and try to find them in FSXX. Make notes and do you own 'mission'. The challenge is getting in then getting out. Why get fraustred with FSXX - it ain't finished yet. Chuck B Napamule
  24. Ha. He doesn't even have a joy more less a HOTAS. He wants to be able to fly using only the keyboard.
