  1. I figure 10 years before these 'bugs' will be 'ironed out'. MSFS is a WIP (work in progress) by the looks of it. And I also figure that in 10 years we will be 'working with' Windows 15 (or there abouts) and the first time you fire up MSFS Windows will cause a CTD and a pop-up will suggest you get X-Box? Maybe? 2. All I am saying that you might not realize that the MODEL dictates the 'geometry', and thus the CofG and thus the contact point positions. Not all/every 747 have identical cnt pts beacause the MODEL will ditermine what different dimensions (geometry/CofG) that particular model has. It is easy to get mixed up if you are not VERY careful. A FS9 model might be entirely different from an FSX model. If I had the files I could sort it all out in about 2 to 3 hours. I am willing to help but never have had any of the Overland models. I feel your pain. I myself would start over fresh. I would work on FS9 model. Then would get the FSX model and work on that seperate (never mix). It's a PITA but it can be done. Chuck B Napamule
  3. Flight in Class A airspace requires pilots and aircraft to be instrument equipped and rated and to be operating under instrument flight rules (IFR). In many countries commercial airliners and their pilots must operate under IFR as the majority of flights enter Class A airspace.
  4. You have 'record' parameters/options and then you have 'replay' parameters/options. To see 'lights' you need to turn on option to show lights in replay options screen. I believe that will fix your problem. FSRecorder has a LOT of options. Learning curve is steep. But once you catch on you will enjoy it more. Chuck B Napamule
  5. Quote:'Since you aren't a fan of these models, what have you been using as your user airplanes on FSX?' Woop! I guess I am not 'qualified' because I do not own ANY 'payware'. I use the default 747 in FSX (with no problems). I also I fix SOME default airplane's contact pts. Have been doing it for 10+ years. Not going to pay $20 for that model just to fix cnt pts either. And since you had this problem 9 yrs ago and can't find anyone to fix cnt pts for this model (orig for FS2002/FS2004) then it might be that you are stuck. They did a roll-out (updated models) in 2008 which might solve the cnt pt problem as 'version' of model DOES make a difference, even whan it comes to cnt pts. I am out. Chuck B Napamule
  6. Ok. But you still did no specify what Sim you are NOW trying to use it in. Or, what version of windows you are trying to make it work in. Would help. Like I said Win 10/11 or MSFS and you will not be able to make it work (from what I read in forums). Chuck B Napamule
  7. This site is for advice for 'Auto Sports Simulation' ONLY and not for hardware, etc. 'ASS' is for vehicles, specifically Race Cars, for FS9/FSX simulation. Sorry. Chuck B Napamule
  8. Back in July 2013 (YES-2013!) you posted: ''thank you. I just found that the problem had been fixed for me and I didn't even know it. In the Overland 'update' there were new 'aircraft.cfg' files that I had overlooked. I put the in the 'normal' cfg file and now the plane sits perfectly, regardless the fuel load.'' So what did you change? Or did you re-install and loose cfg? Either way I think you should 'GIVE IT UP' (hehe). Especially since the model was made for FS2002/FS2004. Yeah, I know: You LOVE this model. Being there - done that. So I don't blame you. I would fix your cnt pts but would need the payware model files. I don't think I could buy them anywhere anymore. BUT...sometimes the MODEL is made with wrong compression, wrong cofg, etc. And then the fix gets hairy and sometimes can't be done. Chuck B Napamule PS: Overland Simmers did not go out of business 'just because'. It is 'gone' because they sold screwed up garbage, that is why they are no longer 'in business'. Looked around and found link to download 'roll up' (new models), circa 2008, and 200 Mb, at Japanese site (it's legit): https://www.overland.co.jp/english/sms/download/
  9. I have a Sidewinder (Precision 2) which is not FF. Works perfect in FS9 and FSX Accel. You did not say what sim you are trying to make it work in but I suspect MSFS (AND/OR Win 10 / 11). Haven't tried MSFS but I believe I read somewhere that the FF model will not work in MSFS. Especially if you modded the electronics. 26 volts (anywhere on board) doesn't sound right to me, either. Good luck. Chuck B Napamule
  10. Hey Gang, Today (1/6) is Nels Birthday. He is 66 yrs (Simulated - hehe). Wish you many more Nels. Chuck B Napamule
  11. You should stick with FS2004. Go back to Win 7 (Restore Point?). I don't recomend MSFS (or Win 10 / 11). That combo needs years of work to function well. The best PC in the world won't fix THAT. I have a i9 9900k to 5.0 Ghz, and a GTX-1080 with Win 10 Home on it. But you can't PAY me to get MSFS. Maybe next year? I fly FS9 @ 60 fps and FSX @ 30 fps. What more could one want? Go fly. Chuck B Napamule
  12. I am 81 yrs old simmer. I have FS9 and FSX. For 15 yrs now. Learn something new every day. You SHOULD seriously consider getting X-Plane (learning curve is simular to FS9 or FSX. You will need a desktop (not a laptop) with something like i5 or i7 CPU and a good GPU. You can get by with Win 7 64 bit (for now). For MSFS you MUST have Win 10 or 11 (64 bit suggested). Once installed you will need to learn the TERMINOLOGY used for flight simming so you can do proper set up of your hardware. For FSX you also need to 'tweak' the FSX config file for best results. You are looking for 30 fps (frame rate per second) for smooth fly. You CAN'T fly with 12 fps (due to lag and stutters). You will start by learning how to fly the C-172 and then how to land it. Later you will learn to fly the jets (military and passenger) and last (if you fly EVERYDAY) a year later the B-747, etc. You can GRADUALLY learn to fly with ATC but can fly without for now. And...you WILL crash on occassion. We all did. There are lots of 'how to' videos on YouTube so search by topic. You learn by doing. So FIRE IT UP! and GO! Chuck B Napamule
  13. If you install FSX (or FS9) under Program Files you will have problems due to Win7 'permissions'. Best to install elsewhere. You should start over as otherwise you will suffer. On NEW install try 'C:/FSX'. No need to do 'C:/Program Files/FSX' (because you don't want it in Program Files!!!).Your 'FSX exe' file will then reside in 'C:/FSX' (and NOT under 'user','roaming',etc). There (C:/FSX) you will find 'Simobjects' folder. Under that you can make folder for your addons ('Aircraft FSX' is idea). Under 'Airplanes' are found the DEFAULT aircraft (NO ADDONS HERE). Same with scenery. Make folder under FSX named 'Addon Scenery Mine'. The 'Addon Scenery' folder should not have any addon scenery files. Good luck. Chuck B Napamule PS: My 'simbjects/aircraft fsx' folder is 8 Gb, 20,000 files in 1,000 folders. Never had a problem!
  14. But...Jett doesn't realize that this is a forum for Auto Sports Simulation and not 'General' advice or support on other topics (ie: it's the wrong forum). Seems like O.K. Daley is no longer able/willing to promote Auto Sports Simulations, the race cars (vehicles), or the scenery (race tracks). He did not respond to emails. Not sure why he just quit. Shame. Chuck B Napamule
  15. It's funny how people mix/confuse 'update' of 'driver' and 'latest version' of 'driver'. If you bought your video card in 2015 then you need specific 'drivers' (a ('correct') version of driver(s)) for that card (for that year). You can't just download the 'latest driver' IF THERE is NO 'UPDATE' for 2015 drivers. You are stuck with THAT driver (for that year) for that card. Drivers alone can not perform 'miracles'. Sorry. Example: GTX 1080 bought in 2017 will not work with drivers released 2018 - 2021. This is a 'Windows' (especially Win 10) problem and not a Nvidia problem. If you want to 'use' the 'latest drivers' from Nvidia then you must 'upgarde' your VIDEO CARD, not just the drivers. In 'real' life here is no free lunch! And re-install of FSX has nothing to do with screen resolution problem(s). You monitor has/has not capability of 1920x1080 res -AND- your video card has/has not capability of 1920x1080 res. One (or both) is your 'problem'. So: get a newer monitor -or- get a newer video card. Or both. Chuck B Napamule
  16. Go to a GoodWill store and get a used monitor (cheap). Just plug it in and turn it on to see if it works as there is usually 'no returns' on electronics. You might be pleased even with a 23 in monitor that has a higher res (2048x1152 -or- 1920x1080) than you would with any size TV. Good luck. Chuck B Napamule
  17. The best way to do any of this is to use software designed to seamlessly do the job. MACRIUM REFLECT 7 (Free for home use, 5.3 mb) is the best free clone/backup software out there. It requires you provide an EMail and they will send a link that you copy/paste to address line in web browser. They have a forum and FAQ to learn how to use it. Not difficult. People go to YTube and want SPECIFIC answers and only find general 'expert' advice (ie: opinions) and REALLY only want view count. Look for videos on 'How to Use Macrum' (did not check). I think you will like that it will do clone or image with not much difficulty. I am 81 yrs old and I too have to learn 'something new' almost every day. Ha. Chuck B Napamule
  18. Like Hans says (and due to you not 'interacting' with ATC) the runway YOU choose might have a stiff side wind. Even the AP won't help you there. And there are 2 other things NEEDED (required?) if there is any 'wind' involved, and those are PITCH TRIM and 'Auto Rudder'= OFF!!! You can use AP for approach and then turn it off when at 100 ft or so, then hand land (using pitch trim and rudder) to 'attain' that CENTERLINE touch down. Doing sidewind landings take practice. Whether with a Cessna or a 747. Practice landings using 'Locked Spot' view. After doing a few dozen (hundred?) of those then the landings using VC (or 2D) will be much improved. On approach, line up center line to YOUR eyes, not the center of windscreen. Sorry, but that is how the sim 'works'. No fix for that. This is often a source of confusion for simmers. And all their landings are to the LEFT of centerline (of course). Chuck B Napamule
  19. How to Enable TPM 2.0 in BIOS If you need to enable Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 2.0 in your bios as a windows 11 requirement, please take the following steps: 1. Restart your PC 2. Hold down the F2 key (FN F2 if no dedicated function keys) during boot up to get to the BIOS menu. 3. Use the arrow keys to navigate to the Security tab 4. Find a listing for either TPM, Intel Platform Trust Technology (IPTT), or AMD CPU fTPM 5. Toggle to “Enabled” 6. Finally, hit F10 to Save and Exit BIOS Note: After following all of the instructions above, TPM 2.0 should be enabled in your system.
  20. The 2017 Nvidia drivers applies ESPECIALLY to Windows 10 and FS2020!!! Turn off auto updates (until you get another video card - HA). You can let Win 10 do updates but choose option to download but not auto run/install. You can choose to NOT install what you research and decide you don't want (ie: video card drivers). Stupid Windows makes you work your a** off if you want to do flight simulator - it's not right but that's the way the cookie crumbles. Chuck B Napamule
  21. Chage the height: static_cg_height = 9.9 to static_cg_height = 3.9 That should do it. Also turn off crash detection. You don't need that (ie: headaches). Chuck B Napamule
  22. Very good Charlie. I have an Nvidia GTX 1080 in a new PC that will be for MSFS (with Windows 10, of course) and I found out that I will have to use 2017 Nvidia drivers or the card won't work. The 'latest' Nvidia drivers updated by Windows 10 will not work. If you get IOBit uninstaller it will do a complete uninstall of drivers (including registry entries, which is crucial). It's free. I won't use anything else to do uninstalls. The Nvidia uninstaller doesn't do a complete job. Chuck B Napamule
  23. You can't just 'copy' MSFS. You must 'install' it so FS and Windows can 'record' links to files, and make the registry entries that are required. A mere copy does not do that so it won't work. There COULD be a way to link things to where it might work but I don't know how to do that. Chuck B Napamule
  24. Hey guys - take it easy. He is not a troll. He has been around FltSimCom since 2010. Maybe he is just not 'into' computers like we are. He is just letting off steam. No harm. Maybe we can't help him due to him not having the latest-greates PC out there. Being there...done that. It takes a lot of reading, watching ytube videos, visiting forums (for months!) to learn one topic concerning puter 'stuff'. It's HARD to learn computers. Not everyone can do that due to 'xyz'. Least we could do is co-miserate and let it go at that. (He could be your brother, or your cousin, or your uncle - be nice!). Chuck B Napamule
