  1. What a load of fanboy tosh! I've been running flight sims since Airbus A320 on the Amiga in 1993. I'm pretty certain I know my way round a setup screen and stick configurator. I have never come across a sim (sorry, game) where it is virtually impossible to hand fly. I have tried all sorts of sensitivity settings and dialled down the FPS as suggested elsewhere. Over at Avsim someone already posted they have examined the flight dynamics of these default Asbooboo aircraft and they are way off. I loaded up XP11 yesterday evening and hand flying a Cessna was perfectly stable and enjoyable. As it stands, FS2020 is a pretty scenery simulator (at the cost of streaming Gb's of data) but as a flight sim it's at best early access.
  2. Again no mention of revisiting the default aircraft physics which are causing the control issues most of us are having.
  3. No mention of updating the aircraft config files to tame the wild handling, though.
  4. I run with a GTX1650 (4Gb) and I have 4K at medium settings. No stutter yet albeit I've not flown over any dense areas yet. No stutter yet - though I've capped FPS at 30 for the time being to try and tame the handling.
  5. Go into options and see if you can assign a joystick button to the function.
  6. I did wonder though if trying legacy might tame some of the more extreme handling behaviour.
  7. Yes they have Wroughton Airfield just south of Swindon in the sim which actually now has a solar panel installation on the runway area!
  8. I am running on a I7 4770 with GTX1650 and 24Gb RAM. No issues running at medium settings, the flight models that's a different matter!
  9. From a post at the Steam forum... https://steamcommunity.com/app/1250410/discussions/0/2800630252896896461/ Seems that turning down max FPS could tame the bucking GA aircraft. About to try it now down form 60 FPs to 30 FPS.
  10. No it's not you Tim. I just finished reinstalling XP11 and I'm going to try a GA flight, with real weather to compare. the problem with FS2020 seems to be the slightest control input is being exaggerated in translation to the sim aircraft. You know this actually feels uncannily like Flight Sim World in terms of handling the GA stuff, got to make you wonder...
  11. After trying several of the GA aircraft, I am beginning to see where people are getting annoyed. Even with control sensitivities turned right down they are almost impossible to control and get stabilised on takeoff. Twitching and lurching all over the place and not helped by you can't engage autopilot until you get into a reasonable configuration. About the only flyable aircraft is the Icon Microlight - which doesn't have an AP. Yet I see MS are already filling up the DLC store trying to squeeze more money out of the new customers. Think it's time to sit it out for a bit and see where this goes.
  12. It allocated me a parking spot (I was in the Icon microlight) and put the progressive taxi route up to get there.
  13. We train simmers had the same with MSTS. A 3/4 baked product that had loads of issues and received one half hearted patch that fixed a miniscule number. Default heavy freight locos with the performance of a sports car, routes with unrealistic gradients and a major snafu that derailed your train if more than 6 miles between a junction or points. Let's just hope MS and Asobo are indeed in this for the long haul.
  14. I don't think the ATC is that sophisticated (yet). Messages seem very erratic and taxiing to the parking at Bournemouth I had two AI heavies taxi straight towards me with no warning from ground to any of the aircraft. So I would say it's worse than FS9 or FSX default ATC.
  15. After taking off without any ATC (which I've deferred to the co-pilot anyway), I got a semi audible sound about two thirds of the way into my flight, no text repeater message and nothing else after that. So it looks like ATC is actually worse than FS9 or FSX.
  16. Yes for all I'm enjoying the visual experience, I currently have XP11 reinstalling (the forthcoming A340 looks oodlesome) and I am squarely referring to FS2020 as entertainment software, in the same way I'd fire up Elite Dangerous or one of the GTA's. I think MS and Asobo would have won more friends if they had released this as early access and maybe toned down some of the preview footage that was allowed to be shown.
  17. In terms of the aircraft, most emphatically yes. However scenery wise, you are pretty much set with the default using the streamed mapping data.
  18. Well I cut my flight sim teeth on A320 Airbus for the Amiga so a relative "youngling". FS2020 gives us the sort of scenery we could only have dreamed of back then. I flew from Swindon to Southampton last night in the microlight and that alone would probably have required £100's worth of VFR scenery to get the same effect. I'm not for one minute denying or belittling those who are having issues and many parts of the product feel like it should have been offered as early access. Steam forums in particular are full of either furloughed RL pilots who thought a £60 sim would offer study level flight and the kiddies who thought they could crash planes for two hours then get a refund - wrong on both counts! Much work is needed from Asobo and MS to prioritise and iron out the wrinkles and we eagerly awit to see what PMDG et al can do with the new game engine. However there is massive potential here and I'm already contemplating getting a world tour under way.
  19. There's little doubt many people are having issues and some of the problems it shipped with mean this should really have been put out as early access. The price tag is also somewhat steep given the initial issues. However up and running on average hardware with, I have to say, no issues I am thoroughly enjoying the GA experience flying over territory which looks instantly recognisable, without having to load £100's worth of add on VFR scenery. The good stuff will come, add ons from PMDG or Just Flight which have decent flight models and proper functioning autopilots. the important thing is we have a new platform to fly on which doesn't require computer trickery to get running or a white lie to qualify for purchasing.
  20. Pause is the... Pause key. To save a flight in progress Escape then spacebar. I just passed over Southampton in the microlight and was getting low cloud broken in places which seems right (about 60 miles south of where I'm sitting). Loads of reports though that AP is foobared both on the GA and tubes so I'm going to stick with handflying until it's fixed.
  21. You don't need a hyper computer to run this, in fact from what I've seen so far on various forums it's the high end users who are running into problems. I have an "old" I7 4770 CPU along with a GTX1650 GPU and 24Gb of RAM and it runs fine (so far ;) ) on medium settings at 4K.
  22. Up and running with my own flight, have to say that is rather lovely. Set up a flight from Kemble to Southampton with the microlight and even on medium detail the eastern side of Swindon is quite recognisable - the GWH Hospital, Coate Water and all the roads are in the correct place. Some of the key controls (especially views) will take a bit of getting used to, shame there's not an option to apply FSX defaults. Setting trim was also a bit tricky as I had a tendency to over compensate with the keys. I did try a flight in one of the autopilot equipped GA but as soon as I engaged Alt Hold, ploughed into the ground, so definitely work to be done there. However for VFR flying using Bing Maps data this is going to take some beating. The nav map needs some work too as I can't see a way to apply user waypoints, however I note it is saved in .pln format so should be possible to use existing planning software to draw up a custom plan. Nice.
