  1. Here are some shots of a flight from Cape Town, South Africa, out to the island of Saint Helena, a British Overseas Territory, far out in the remote south Atlantic. Saint Helena is famous as the place where Napoleon was exiled after losing the Battle of Waterloo. It was only accessible by ship until a new airport opened in 2016 after several years of construction. Since then South African carrier AIRLINK has provided bi-weekly flights to and from the island’s Jamestown Airport (FHSH) using Embraer E190s. Let’s fly along and check it out. Ready for takeoff at Cape Town International with some scattered rain showers over the field. On the climb out we're treated to a double rainbow! "Coast out" for the 3+ hour over water segment. The map insert shows Saint Helena's remote location. Not much to see over ocean water so we'll turn off the cameras until we're on the approach. With the ocean segment behind us, we're on approach with great views of the island's mountainous terrain and sheer cliffs along the coast. You can see why even getting here by ship before the airport was built could be a problem in getting ashore. On final for the 6000-foot runway. Getting sufficient runway length when building the airport required some major engineering to build up terrain by filling in a ravine at the far opposite end. Turning off the active and parked at the terminal. Welcome to Saint Helena. We can leave. Napoleon couldn't!
  2. A nice shot Chris. Well framed and a good viewing angle to highlight the plane. I especially like the counter rotating props detail. That said I don't think a Russian plane would have much luck in getting refuled in Poland just now!! :D
  3. A spectacular shot of one of the all time classic aircraft.:cool: Congrats on your acqusitions Rick!
  4. "Sign, sign, everywhere a sign! Blockin' out the scenery, Breakin' my mind, Do this! Don't do that! CAN'T YOU READ THE SIGN?" - Song lyrics by the Five Man Electrical Band Here's a random collection of "Do this, don't do that" aircraft signs and placards from FS2020 :D Click shots for full screen. Don't even think about it! (And read the other 5 panel warnings and no-no's while you're at it!). Vaping is a relatively new addition to these door signs. OK, sounds reasonable "No Step" as in "Let's don't put any dents or holes in the wing!" Kind of looks like the red window flag is showing. Stand back or else! Remove before flight and do not paint pitot tube area. If you don't remember anything else, remember this: Do Not Pull Handle!!!! Let's keep the speed brakes attached to the aircraft The cockpit equivalent of "Seat backs and tray tables in the upright position."
  5. You can't go wrong with the "Phabulous Phantom" Rick. Awesome shots!:cool::cool:
  6. Great shot of a great plane in a great livery Rick.:cool: Might want to be sure those AIM-9 and GBU-12s on the wing stations are "Safed" before landing at RDU tho! :D:pilot:
  7. This looks like an interesting Vietnam-era SEA camo paint scheme but hard to see or appreciate the full picture from this angle. Side or quarter views are much better for showing off your big library of aircraft. Just sayin'....................:pilot:
  8. Thanks fror the detailed comment and interesting background! Just to be clear - this isn't my work - just a download of a freeware repaint for the payware FS2020 Red Wings L1049 that I added to the other liveries that come with the plane. Here's where the artwork and paint credit goes: https://flightsim.to/file/38021/lockheed-super-connie-american-overseas-airlines As far as I know there aren't any Constellation Model 049s available yet for FS2020. At least not native ones. Hoping to see more of the older classic aircraft start showing up. There are more than enough A320s and 737s!!!
  9. Some shots of the F14A Tomcat "Queen of Spades" from the Black Aces of VF-41. A livery which wouldn't make it today but did back in the more tolerant 70s, 80s, and early 90s. ;) FS2020 The real deal. :pilot:
  10. Here are some random shots of an L1049 Constellation in the colorful eye-catching livery of 1950s-era American Overseas Airlines.
  11. +1 A little tweaking would do a lot for these shots
  12. Here are some random shots from flights over the last several months. A Navy P3C Orion departing Lajes Air Base (LPLA) in the Azores Islands The control tower at Walt Whitman Regional Airport (KOSH) in Oshkosh Wisconsin. KOSH is the scene of the annual EAA AirVenture fly-in and Air Show. The 2022 event just wrapped up a couple of weeks ago on July 30. An Azul Brazilian Airlines A320 on a straight-in approach to Runway 02R at RW weather fog-shrouded Santos Dumont Airport (SBJR) in Rio de Janeiro. What's wrong with this picture? Hint: Starting with the line of visible hilltops off the left wing move right and look carefully into the fog directly ahead of the airplane level with the top of the vertical stabilizer in the pic. Than look at the insert Approach Plate for a straight-in approach to Runway 02R .  F14 Tomcat "Miss Molly" on the ramp at NAS Jacksonville, Florida. (KNIP). Canadian Forces Twin Otter landing at CFB "Alert" (CYLT) on the northern tip of Ellesmere Island. eh! ;) C172 G1000 PFD on approach to Roanoke Airport (KROA) in the Blue Ridge Mountains of SW Virginia. USAF KC-135R tanker over the Alaska Mountain Range between Anchorage and Fairbanks. B737 on glide slope for a night landing at KSEA. Captain Sim B767 landing flaps and wing view
  13. In this series a FedEx Cessna Caravan makes an early morning inter island package delivery from San Juan's Luis Munoz airport (TJSJ) over to Terrance B. Lettsome airport (TUPJ) on the island of Tortola in the British Virgin Islands (BVI). Flight is 30 minutes enroute. TUPJ reported RW weather 1800 scattered, Temp 82F, Visibility 10 miles, Altimeter 30.02, Wind calm. Off San Juan with the rising sun lighting up scattered cumulus clouds behind us. As we climb out of the San Juan area the mountains of the famous El Junque Rain Forest park are visible to the right Approaching the eastern end of Puerto Rico we can see the town of Fajardo below us with the sun reflecting off a highrise resort hotel along the beach. Further out in the distance along the coast is the former Rosevelt Roads Navy base and air station. Familiar to generations of sailors and aviators as "Rosy Roads." Offshore beyond RR is the long slender island of Vieques. Time to don our sunglasses as we head directly into a typical beautiful Caribbean sunrise. Two landmarks flying between Puerto Rico and the Virgins. The island of Culebra off the right wing with Vieques in the distance. Coming up on St Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands the extended runway of Cyril E. King airport (TIST) in Charlotte Amalie is visible over the right glare shield corner. Tortola is straight ahead behind the layer of scattered clouds. Over the Sir Francis Drake Channel south of Tortola on a downwind for Runway 25 at TUPJ off the left wing. On base for the runway. The high terrain surrounding the airport make this a tricky approach in low viz. Turning off the active for the ramp to offload our packages. "When It Absolutely, Positively Has to be There Next Day!" :)
  14. Very nice series :cool: but must be from a few years back. The water in Lake Mead hasn't been that high for a while now!!;)
  15. After landing at Southern California Logistics Airport (KVCV), an aircraft "Boneyard," a surplus American Airlines MD80 has been towed to a permanent parking place in a field of other stored and decommissioned airplanes while waiting for a final decision on its fate. The possibilities are a new owner buys or leases it and puts it back into service with a new air carrier :), the reuseable parts like flight instruments or structural pieces like engines or wing flaps get removed and resold as spares or replacements to operators still flying MD80s , or - worst case- a wrecking crew shows up to chop the airplane up in pieces to sell for scrap :(. Any one of these scenarios could take months or years to play out. In the meantime, ex AA N9405T sits patiently in the desert sun.
  16. In this series a retired American Airlines MD-80 lands at Southern California Logistics Airport (KVCV) near Victorville in the dry desert east of LA to go into long term storage. The low humidity and rainfall make this an ideal location for preventing corrosion and other damage to airplane structures and systems that are parked for long periods of time. Because many of the airplanes never return to service these kinds of airports are usually referred to as "Boneyards." In the real world most retired AA MD80s and other types of AA retired planes are stored at Roswell Airport (KROS) in New Mexico. AA retired all of its MD80s in 2019. Rolling out on the runway past a field of retired Fedex 757s, MD11s, and 727s Turning off the active to taxi to the ramp we pass between lines of Southwest 737s on the right and other airline 747s and widebodies on the left. Parked and shut down (maybe for the last time) on the terminal ramp. Soon a tug will arrive to tow the airplane to a permanent parking spot out in the sand and tumbleweeds and a crew will begin sealing it up for storage while the plane awaits its fate. Will a new owner arrive to put it back in service? Will it be parted out for spares? Or will the wrecking crane arrive to send it on a final flight to the Big Airport in the Sky? :(
  17. A great series. After seeing these shots I felt the need to immediately go and download the new Oceano scenery! :D
  18. Some quick shots of a Delta Connection CRJ-700 on a short sunrise commuter flight from Roanoke Airport (KROA) in southwest Virginia up to Dulles International outside of DC (KIAD).
  19. A great series showing the ability of FS2004 to accurately recreate both the aircraft and period airport scenery and traffic of the golden age of aviation. Very enjoyable. Well done Larry!:cool:
  20. Passengers on the right side of this Delta 767 landing at Fort Lauderdale (KFLL) get a great view of the Hard Rock Guitar Hotel.
  21. Nice Rick. Another great shot of a classic.:cool:
  22. Nice shot of the DC3 Chris. Not too much water behind the dam these days!
  23. Way up North Way up North North to Alaska! We go North, the rush is on! - Johnny Horton song lyrics The Gold Rush is over but here are some shots of a USAF KC-135R tanker on a flight from Elmendorf AFB (PAED) outside of Anchorage up to Ladd AAF (PAFB) at Fort Wainwright outside of Fairbanks. The flight is over the rugged snow covered peaks of the Alaska Range between Anchorage and Fairbanks. Takeoff from PAED. Climbing out of the Anchorage area. Leveling off over the peaks and valleys of the Alaska Range. Landing at PAFB outside Fairbanks.
