  1. Great shots David. The Aleutians make for some great flying with spectacular scenery and challenging weather. Besides visiting there in MSFS I've been to Adak (PADK) RW.
  2. Some shots of the American Airlines DC3 "Flagship Detroit" in the 1930s and 40s AA paint scheme.
  3. Another great Navy paint by JK!!!:cool::cool: Fly Navy! Although Jan's paint of the Hercules is fictional the Navy did fly a large seaplane in the late 1940s and early 1950s timeframe. The JRM-1 Martin "Mars" which was roughly one-half the size of the Hercules. One of these aircraft is still flying as a fire-fighting water bomber in the U.S. Northwest. There's an FSX version of the water bomber in the Library with this filename: martin_mars_firebomber.zip Here's a pic of the original Navy Mars.
  4. Correction for the record: The DHC2 is the "Beaver" - the twin engine DHC6 is the "Otter." My mistake :o: That said - I've always been attracted to "Beavers";) :D :D
  5. An awesome series - Howard Hughs himself would approve!!!:cool::cool:
  6. Here are a couple of quick shots of a Kenmore Air DHC2 Otter climbing out of Kodiak (PADQ) Alaska on a late afternoon flight up to Valdez (PAVD).
  7. Very nice shots and ones that prove FS2004 and FSX can hang with MSFS!
  8. Great ones JK!:cool::cool: FSX is still my go to while waiting for some of the early jets (707, 727) to show up in MSFS!
  9. Here are some shots of the Liberty Foundation's WWII era C-47 "Chalk 40." The aircraft is painted in the D-Day invasion striped paint scheme and has a winning hand "4 Aces" nose art.
  10. Beautiful shots and awesome framerates! It doesn't get any better than that!!
  11. Great paint and shots of this early Navy jet fighter. One of my favorites.
  12. An awesome series and interesting trip route David!:cool::cool: Thanks for pointing out the PMDG sun visors - I didn't know about them either.
  13. Crew admiring the view and looking for best screenshot angles on the descent from cruise. Meanwhile, back at the airplane........................................:)
  14. Here's what got us a trip to the control tower after landing::(:o 14 CFR § 91.117 Aircraft speed. (a) Unless otherwise authorized by the Administrator, no person may operate an aircraft below 10,000 feet MSL at an indicated airspeed of more than 250 knots (288 m.p.h.).
  15. So that's what's on top of those things! There's a fix for them btw.
  16. Thanks Larry - another great guess but our mistake was more basic. It's hiding in plain view!
  17. Good guess but the gear was down. We will be getting our wrists slapped but for another (once you see it) highly visible reason!:D
  18. Thanks Paul - if you look carefully the reason is visible in one of the shots!! :pilot:
  19. Here are some shots of a Pilatus PC-21 high performance turboprop trainer on a flight from Northeast Florida Regional Airport (KSGJ) near St. Agustine down to Melbourne International Airport (KMLB) on Florida's space coast. We pick up the action over the coastline of eastern Florida as the airplane is just starting its descent from cruise at FL180. The PC-21 has tandem seating with the instructor sitting in the rear and above the student in the front cockpit. As we get down to approach altitude in this view from the rear cockpit we can see Merritt Island and the causeway out to Cocoa Beach on the coast off the left wingtip. Further out in the upper left are Cape Canaveral and the Kennedy Space Center. With the airport in sight at 10 o'clock, we're cleared for the visual 9R approach. After landing we've been instructed to report to the tower controller! Why? On final, cleared to land. Touchdown, taxi, and shut down on the ramp. Welcome to Melbourne!
  20. Nice shot & landing Rick but you might want to wait til the tailwheel touchs down before getting too comfy ;):pilot:
  21. Nice view David. Now about that 30% fee for handling pots of gold...........................
  22. Well, it's not just Antarctica David! Check out these 3 giant monoliths on the approach into Juneau, Alaska. Do we need to cue the theme music from "2001: A Space Odyssey"?;)
  23. We're not in Kansas anymore! A Navy Grumman A6 "Intruder" on approach to Jacksonville Naval Air Station in rainy weather flies underneath a full rainbow. Will a pot of gold be waiting on the ramp? Or maybe the Lion, Scarecrow, and Tin Man? ;)
