  1. Perhaps the license for the disk remains on your computer allowing for the download Premium Deluxe.

Check the version numbers for the aircraft in Content and see if they change to later versions when updating.

I ordered the Premium Deluxe disk set myself when it first became available. The shipping date came and went, so I cancelled it and got my money back.

I bought the Premium Deluxe download and installed that.

The disk version later arrived on my doorstep and so far have not even opened it, so I got a two for one deal :)

  2. ...That's one thing I really like about ORBX...they never make you buy anything twice.

They are charging when you buy a like product when migrating to MSFS2020. At least they offer a "Bundle" discount to do so that I don't mind taking advantage of instead of waiting for it to go on sale.

  3. Always good to have a few brave souls pave the way :) I'll still wait.

This is second hand cause of above issue...

According to the Prepar3D Forum this is from the experimental setting "Amortize Clouds". This will cause the clouds to update at a slower rate which can increase performance but also introduces visual artifacts, especially at lower framerates. Turning this off will cause this tearing to no longer occur.
  4. There is plenty of information googling your question.

In a nutshell though, FSX uses mostly DTX5 .dds for its textures. 32bit is the best for detail, but can cause out of memory (AKA OOM) errors on complex aircraft such as PMDG, QualityWings etc.

Also FSX doesn't care if its .bmp or .dds however .dds are slightly faster because they are stored upside down which is one less processing step because graphic programs (ie FSX) will flip .bmp WHILE applying textures to a model.

You should compare the texture folders of a 32bit vs DXT5 to see the difference in storage space. DXT5 is substantially smaller.

  5. Only obvious thing I saw with ORBX products was the Content page said they (and all other add-ons) were "Not Installed" when they were in fact installed. This has been corrected in later update.

Guess trial and error are the only way to know which add-ons are a problem.

One thing ORBX recommends though is this...

  6. One question... Do you have any add-ons in your Community folder?

It's well documented that older add-ons can cause problems for latest updates. Only add-ons I have are ORBX scenery and FSUIPC7 and also a few repaints.

The add-ons that directly effect aircraft etc. can be troublesome until a updated add-on can be obtained.

Try moving any add-ons out of the Community folder and restart your computer/sim.

I agree with your belief...the last thing you want to do is reinstall the sim since it worked OK before.

  7. If you search on google you can find direct downloads (simshack) and also even the boxed DVD at Walmart.

EDIT: One other thing about JustFlight is they use a generic American Airlines livery so not to infringe on copyright but you can find real replacements.

  8. One comment, and I don't know the truth of this, is that the Traffic 360 models are simplified over WOAI stuff. If this is true, does that help with framerates?

Just Flight uses their own in house AI models, they even went so far as to use FSX native .DDS textures (rather then .BMP) and I have no issues with frame rates.

I was impressed flying to Guantanamo Bay and finding fighters and C-130's roaming around the base. With Ultimate Traffic there was no traffic.

Being a older AI program don't expect latest liveries though.
