  1. Try disabling the joystick before using slew, the slightest offsets in its readings are magnified in slew mode and interpreted as inputs.
  2. Sitting at Munich Off to ETSE Which is quite close No ES41 on my map, so head to LOIK Oops, didn't notice the ceiling, climbed to clear the mountains Right on top of LOIK before it's visible Turn to Innsbruck Getting close There it is Maybe if i stand up I can see something Ubiquitous Caravans wherever you fly On final Easy landing FWIW, plane is a Davis D-1, forty or so were made 1929-1930, about a dozen still exist, "several are still airworthy". A modified Davis with 120hp engine won the 1930 National Air Race.
  3. The obvious - check that files aren't write-protected. Also make sure your account has full privileges to the install folder (if you installed to any Program Files folder this can be an issue).

  6. And they do not natively run windows programming. Linux is popular, but you must be a programming genius to configure emulators to run windows programs ....if indeed they will run them. There is no alternative to windows for which you can simply install and run your favorite software, thus no viable competition. Just look at all the anti-trust issues Microsoft faces as they continually buy out competitors, unfortunately they have the financial clout to buy their way out of all such problems. Aren't you glad MS did not develop the automobile.
  7. Yes, I am always wrong. Mac is not competition to Microsoft because they do not run the same software. If there were an option to windows that would run the same software then Microsoft would have competition. You have an option of what TV to buy because they all receive the same channels; you have an option what car to buy because they all run on the same highways; there is no option to Microsoft ...so they dictate the market.
  8. Remember this is Microsoft we are dealing with. They have no interest in what the consumer wants, they will dictate what you buy and how you use it. The best thing that could happen to the computer industry would be for Microsoft to have competition.
  9. Try disabling the joystick before using slew mode, enable it when done and out of slew.
  10. Ditto. I would prefer having it on but it doesn't affect AI aircraft and I was tired of going down in flames during approach when an AI flew through me and continued to land unscathed ....I want the AI scathed also! Thanks for the info on finding those invisible walls, I've dumped a couple of add-on airports due to plowing into them.
  11. I stand corrected, the Nardi 333 is available for MSFS
  12. A major point is X-Plane does not require an internet connection, MSFS does (around 20meg minimum, 50 recommended). Currently X-Plane seems to have more variety of aircraft, but MSFS has more impressive scenery. It's like buying a new car, any will get you from point A to point B with the same traffic and parking issues; so you consider your other priorities.
  13. Haven't flown the Canal Zone in ages; mostly default scenery with GEPro textures and an old mod that enhances the locks ...nothing to see here, move along. Also haven't flown this plane in ages, a reminder that I never finished the panel work and the trim control is too coarse. "Hi, I'm Johanna. If you click me I will hide." Only a couple dozen of these planes were made, almost all sold in the US, all to private pilots; so this is a thoroughly fictional livery, but it's sharp. We're off The first batch of ships. Base transit fee for a small boat (less than 65ft.) is around $1600, this includes a certified canal pilot who takes command of your vessel for the duration; if you do not have the necessary lines they are provided ...for a fee; if your crew is not knowledgeable of the canal requirements, help is available ...for a fee; there is a mandatory inspection fee of $75 for every vessel before it enters the area. Cruise ships were once charged by number of berths, today it is by length and displacement, averaging about $60,000; a large cargo ship can pay over $300,000. Several people have swam the distance, not illegal but you must get special permission ...and pay the transit fee, around $1 (not stated whether they also had to pay the inspection fee). In 2023 rainfall was far below average, so lock operation was slowed greatly. Many ships had to wait days for passage; one company offered to pay to bump the line and be the next ship through, it was allowed ...but cost them nearly $4 million. Private boats pay an average of $75/day for dock space while they wait, large ships lie at anchor just offshore; cruise ships often return to their departure port rather than wait. Gatun locks Large ships require cycling of around 52 million gallons of water during passage The first bridge ...I shan't fly under it Miraflores locks Next bridge, I'll refrain from flying under it also I believe that's the destination But off to the island first (I don't have all the same scenery, so I'm winging it) Turn to final Easy landing And park Probably an impressive flight in MSFS, but I doubt this cutie of an airplane is available there. (It's the Nardi 333 Riviera.)
  14. I'm sure the marketing dept at Ford cares. Anyone selling any product should be as interested in why someone would not buy that product as in why they would buy it. There is an old engineering adage, "You learn nothing from success".
  15. All my downloads are for FS2004, and all have been "infected" recently. A similar situation on another site some years ago was fixed by some behind the scenes legerdemain, but I've no idea what.
  16. Therein lies the rub. There is no virus, something the software here is doing is perceived as malicious, or at least suspicious, by our browsers. Everything I have downloaded here the past few months has been blocked as containing a virus, I override the block then scan the download, it is clean; a couple of times I have uploaded the files for an online scan ...all clean.
  17. In that popup menu clicking the arrow should get you the option to allow or block the download. (I have the same issue ...only on this site.)
  18. Sadly this is the basis of our modern world. Everything is geared towards higher dividends for investors ...at the expense of everything else. In the US we pay exorbitant electric bills because the vast majority of power companies are investor owned (all too often by people who do not even live in this country). I am a big fan of auto racing, but it has been ruined by "sponsors" (investors) who now dictate the rules, the cars, the tracks, even the drivers. Friends who are fans of football complain that it is more about business than sport today. This will only get worse in the foreseeable future as the major effect of someone making money is they want to make more money. Nice to hear you can continue enjoying your hobby without catering to Microsoft (the best thing that could happen to the computer industry would be for Microsoft to have competition).
  19. Apparently this is a popular tourist area, I wonder if there's an extra fee for this flight as a thrill ride. I see no way of approaching NZMF that wouldn't have a major "pucker factor" in RL. Sitting at NZQN there's no indication of what you're in for. Climbing out isn't difficult, just stay between the mountains GPS is your friend Follow the valley ...unless you fancy climbing to 10k ft for a forty mile run Somewhat inhospitable surroundings Halfway there Still following the valleys Now it's either continue to the ocean and double back or ...over the mountains, I'm about 8200ft here Almost there, NZMF is up that inlet 8 miles to go (paused for the screenshot, from the cockpit those walls seem about five feet away) Threading the needle, 70kts, half flaps There it is, 60kt, full flaps, and puckered so that half the seat cushion has disappeared Down, once on the ground she'll stop on a dime ...thankfully An alternate approach might be through the pass in the mountains, on the left, which somewhat line up with the runway; but it would be completely blind til on this side, when suddenly there's the runway and a steep descent to it. 53 minutes for 40 miles An interesting flight. But now I've spilled the beans.
  20. Whoever posts first will be posting spoilers. I can only say about NZMF ...."MF" is the operative term. Only a moron would build a runway here, and only an idiot would fly to it; but the world is full of both. I did the flight in a Diamond Katana, though an autogyro would be ideal; 53 minutes to go 40 miles. More later (must attend an online game now).
  21. This is usually because you are using a different mesh from what the scenery was designed for.
  22. Exactly. (I was just too lazy to start a d/l and make screenshots.) And since this is the only site giving me this problem (and it started fairly recently) I feel it has something to do with the library here, not my browser.
  23. It isn't just google, it has something to do with the download section of this site. Firefox also blocks downloads, claiming they have a virus ...but they do not. I override the block and get the download, it passes all local scans, even an online scan (sadly, no longer virustotal). This is something those behind the scenes need to address.
